Ya I've pretty much threw out all hope of any codemasters publishes being anything experimental/good. I bought both RFO and AL on launch and both titles I canceled at the end of the trial period so they ended up with $100 of my money ::::21::. Any way AL has way to many problems like the OP said, I remember at launch when you first created your character it wouldn't move it would float around the screen and it became so frequent that when someone yelled out "OMGZ MY CHARACTER WONT MOVE!?!?!?" That everyone would just shout out, relog and it will fix it. Definatly something wrong with the starting variables they didnt switch or change. Anyway moral of the story, don't invest anything into codemasters unless you want to waste your money and time.

Save your money ....
I still know next to nothing about Dark and Light, but I do have experience with Alchemic Dream from Seed. Their GMs do know what they are doing, but it's not like they can save a game that's already broken. Seed was great, but it was released way too early, and so it died. I won't be surprised to see ArchLord follow the same path, though it won't be due to early release, it'll be because the early game is just crap and players will flee instead of purchasing from the store.

That was my issue. This game seems  very much in the same family as L2. So I already play L2 and just didn't feel the need to "start over" as it were. Especially since L2 has been out for just about 3 years and has a lot of polish to it.

Still, if you like Korean grinders and don't mind a game in its early stages, this might be the game for you. I like how you modify weapons ALOT and liked the auction house as it allowed me to sell when I wasn't on or when I was doing something else.

This is quite dissapointing..My Brother got me this and NWN2 for my birthday. Since it was a gift I'll open and give it a shot at least.  I'm familiar with L2 so we'll see how it goes.

Archlord is crappy version of Lineage 2, if your going to copy Lineage 2 at least make it good or improve over Lineage 2.

Ncsoft banned thousands when C5 expansion came, and also tons of new players enjoying the game Lineage 2

Its pointless to have a L2 VS AL debate. L2 does some things better then AL does, and AL does some things better then L2 does.

If your goign to copy lineage 2 at least make an improvement from lineage 2 features. Archlord doesnt, its a step backwards.

All i see is gameloading replying as a madman......i say make it easy.Type in google the word archlord and review..then look at the ratings.Come on a game that get's such a huge amount of bad critics. Not like a few say it ...if you find a 6/10 you can be glad most is between 2.0 and 5.0.

L2 doesn't offer as much as customization as ArchLord does. in ArchLord, you can fully enhance your equipment with stones, making just any kind of equipment you want, L2 doesn't offer it as deep as AL does. the Auction house system also works a lot better then in Lineage 2. AL also has more freedom when it comes to skills, since you can't pick all skills. you will have to make decisions. Not the case with Lineage 2. and last but not least, ArchLord has random weapon stats.

All those reviews are of the first few levels of PVE gameplay, which is simply not what the game is about, that goes for almost every asian MMORPG out there. look at Lineage, 2nd biggest mmorpg in the world in terms of subscribers, gets slaughtered all over by reviews. look at Lineage 2, 3rd bigger mmorpg in the world in terms of subscribers, also receives poor reviews. So much for the reviews eh?

Lineage 2 have enchant scrolls for armours and weapons.

Hey lineage 2 score much better then archlord, do some research before you post false statements.

Compare user rating between archlord and lineage 2 and tell me who is better.

*sigh* Vanguarde, R E A D man, READ! this is about the 3rd time you open your mouth without actually reading carefully what I posted.

1: Like I said, I find the enhancement system of AL to have much more depth then L2's.

2: I never said that Lineage 2 received lower reviews then ArchLord, don't put words in my mouth.

I remember back when this was in BETA and I said that this game would not only fail, but miserably.

I got flamed by all the fanbois of the BETA, and lo and behold, the game failed.. miserably.

There was nothing salvageable about this potion spamming, Bnet kiddie PWN the newbs style of MMORPG with a playability level of 0.

Too many bugs that they let slide thru to release, too many gameplay issues, no content besides a horrific grind, and not least, a horrible community.

Now its free to play, and people still are bailing out faster then rats from a sinking ship. That ought to tell you something.

Thats odd, Because the game is still alive & kicking, and the playerbase is actually increasing (you would have known that if you actually PLAYED the game). I guess there goes your sinking ship theory eh?

I was in the beta as well and felt the game needed a lot of work before it could be released.  I was excited when I got a purple sword one day, but then I got 6 more purples in 2 days.  Loot system a tad out of whack methinks.

Combat I found to be rather mind-numbing after a while.  Click to attack, occasionally click some spell/ability, spam potions.  Repeat As Needed.  Wasn't even fun to watch really same animations over and over.

I stopped bug reporting all the times I got stuck since I figured they either (1) got the point by now, (2) couldn't fix it or (3) didn't care.

Free to play is a good step, now if they can fix the bugs that should of been fixed before release....

at any rate, its good to see that the playerbase doubled so far. More and more people are joining, its good to see people actually give the game a fair chance instead of listening to a couple of haters.

Its not my cup of tea, but I agree. Thats why I think free trials are so important for games. MMOs vary greatly, EVE, WoW and Archlord are all vastly different experiences. Its almost impossible to get an unbiased opinon, so you should just give it a try :D
