Question on PVP in RO

RehmesRehmes Member Posts: 600

Hello, for many months i have looked at this game because i though its classes seemed very cool and i loved the concept of the game as a whole. I know very little about the PvP system in this game though and personnaly I like games where theres PvP. So i have a few questions which i hope you guys could give me some insight into.

Is there PvP in RO?

If so:

Is it open PvP?

What are the incentives to PvP? (territory?, castles?, reputation?)

And this last question is more about RO2  since i havent found any info on this as of yet. What kind of PvP system do you guys think  RO2 will have?

There is PVP in RO but it isn't Open PVP.  You actually go to an instance of an existing town and its free for all.  Usually they are empty except for after War of Emperium.  Also the class inbalance is so severe that PVP really isn't an option for some.

The real PVP in RO comes from War of Emperium.  A 2 hour fight fought twice a week over 20 castles.  Its a guild defends against other guilds thing usually encompassing over 100 people inside a castle at a time.  The incentive is very high with loot to make God Items and a special dungeon.

The PVP in RO is actually quite dated.  Its better then most western games except Ultima Online, but isn't really up to par with a few Korean Ones like Lineage II.

Right now there is little known about RO2's pvp since it won't be there at launch, although they have given it much thought.  In a 4 gamer interview they mentioned that RO2's pvp will actually be slightly twitch based, and that where you hit a person on the body determines the amount of damage.  Although it also takes into account Dodge/Hit rates since it is an RPG.
