I was ready to go when phase 5 (open beta) started up, and actually spent a whole day waiting for it to start. From that moment I logged in, I have yet to even play the game. Yes, it's true. I've been stuck at server select ever since.
I'm hoping someone has enough time to read this between playing Vanguard, because I truly need some tech support. Your ability to play intrigues me to no end. I've tried everything, and have concluded it can only be settings related. If you have time, please compare my VGclient log with yours. I've also included the diagnostic information that looked important. I have no idea what else to do, as SOE is too busy getting their game ready to launch. Any help would be appreciated.
The VGclient log...

Obviously, something is blocking my traceroute, and thus preventing me from playing. However, this was done directly without any security. I can only guess it's something related with the settings for my connection. Anyway, if anyone has the time, I'll put down more information from the diagnostic. This information is more technical however.
If all else fails, I'll just send someone my beta password. Atleast then someone will make use of it. Seriously.
As I said, any help would be appreciated.
The only thing i see unusual is the port being used to connect. I dont have my laptop with me at the moment to verify what port Vanguard uses on it, but i would look into changing the port# in the .ini file inside your install directory.
I looked around and found some examples of that port using TCP and UDP, and here is what i came up with:
tcp/udp
May be something else, but its early and i half asleep.
Try tracing to the address using a different port. Hope you get it straightened out.
After doing some research, I've decided to make a wild guess concerning my problem: my internet service provider has blocked it. I'll call them up tomorrow, but here's my harsh logic:
They block connections rather frequently. Their acceptable use policy allows them to stop and block any ports, connections, or scripts that they deem illegal or against their policies. I know this because before the switch from dialup to radio, I could use all the P2P software I wanted. It was slow, but it worked pretty much flawless. Now, such programs and/or connections are blocked within a few hours. Sucks, I know, but it's currently the only ISP I can get out here.
Anyway, I hope it turns out to be the problem.
EDIT - Also, it's not my internet security or router. I've bypassed both before with no luck.
Hopefully you get the help you need from one of the guys here because asking this games "support team" gets you no answers whatsoever.
I had problems logging in and I wrote them several times and have yet to hear anything from them. I was fortunate to of found someone here to help me out and advise me on what I need to play this game.
I truly hope they don't be the same way once the game is launched.
Do you get similar tracert output to all Internet locations, or is this unique? ICMP (and thus traceroute) is frequently filtered by companies; if your ISP blocks ICMP entirely than all your traces will look similar.
If this traceroute is specific to SOE games, then your ISP (or maybe your local router) is routing SOE-bound traffic to someone other than SOE - or dropping it entirely. Traceroute doesn't run on port 10100 - or any TCP port for that matter, it runs on the ICMP protocol. Blocking port 10100 would not affect a traceroute. A routing error would disrupt both ICMP traces and TCP port 10100 (Vanguard) traffic. Your local router should point all traffic to your ISP who are supposed to than handle routing that to their ISP. However, if your ISP has another customer who is poaching in the 64.37.xx.xx address space, they might be mucking it up for you.
Thanks for trying to help, everyone. It wasn't my ISP, but I've had it with this. Anyone want to see if my account works?
