DOES THIS GAME COST MONEY!

breierbreier Member Posts: 1

I seriously want more mmorpg to be on the internet and free! But you have to pay onthly. Us gamerz would be all over these new mmorpg's but most of them cost money. Imagine WoW and Guildwars being free and all you have to do is DL it off a website and create an account.

Oh and my real question is will this fury game cost money? And what does n/a mean?

when i check if the mmorpg's cost money some of them will say n/a

what does it mean?

You're an idiot. Yes, Fury will cost money. If the games were free both to purchase, and monthly, then the companies would be losing tons of money each month, and thus would make it all pointless, as they would eventually just drop the whole thing and the game would end.

The only way a game is free is:

    1) It sucks and no one in their right mind would actually pay for it -- though usually there are things you can buy within the game for those crazy few.

    2) It's in open beta so they can get as much testing done with as many people as possible before they decide to charge for it. Every single Korean MMO seems to have long open betas, while most western MMO's tend to have short one to two-week open betas.

    3) It's Shadowbane... I don't know what is up with them. I think they'll start charging again soon, since they just got permission to keep developing it and all that.

    N/A = Not Available.

Well played. Although, I've not read much about Fury, yet. Have they announced whether it will be P2P or not?

I don't know how Guild Wars pulls it off, except perhaps the size of NCSoft. I've not heard of Auran before Fury.

The modern MMORPG is simply not worthy, of the acronym RPG. The straight grind and lack of atmosphere leave me with no choice. From this day forth, World of Warcraft, Everquest 2, and all the games like them shall be referred to as PIGCRAP. People In Guilds Constantly Raiding And Power-leveling

Guild Wars is free to play - but this guy wants the actual game for free as well. So he wants to pay $0 total for his mmorpg.

Hmmm - the game for you is puzzle pirates. Your other option is to get a job. I think there is a list of free mmorpgs posted in the general discussion forum. Dont expect WOW or Guild Wars graphics though.

n/a would mean that information is not available at this time.

I think you fail to realise the cost involved in developing a mmorpg and running the servers. Not even in game advertising would cover that.

WOW cost something like $40 million to develop. And with 6 million people playing I am sure they are not worried about the people who would play if it was free.

What an idiotic question...lets see fury is going to be like a 3rd person view but it might have 1st person too I don't know.  I also hear that there is no auto attack function so you are pretty much inputing commands for every attack you do.  The onlything that seems to be point and watch are teh deathblow functions which kinda act like fatalities in MK, or stealth kills in tenchu where you perform a situational attack and watch the carnage unfold. And its going to cost money so go spoon youself with a can of gothehellaway soup

i see why yo uexpect them to be free -.- ..................but WoW would never be free monthly or to purchase let alone guild wars to purchase, which is just sadly admitted. they are from servers that the companies hold. if they made those games "free" i would not play either of them, or for that matter even have tried them. Becuase that normally means they are a poor quality for my taste. and yes, of course you have to purchase fury. and N/A means not applicable aka not available.and for the  "gamers" like your self i'm rather glad  i do not have in game because due to your post, it reeks with immaturity. anyways... good luck to you and all your gameing days -.-

Haha it's funny, you guys replied saying he's the moron.

You didn't even read his post correctly, he was simply saying that if you didn't have to buy the software, more gamers would be trying more p2p games.

There's a whole lot of free MMORPGs played from a web browser. Then there are others such as conquer online, tibia, ... which are also free.

WoW currently has 6 million subscribers  each forking out roughly $13/14 ish. That's what... 75 million/month? Doesn't take long to figure out why they're not free. Guildwars has marketed itself as a pay-once solution, and it seems to be working for them (in any case i can't see them suddenly enforcing monthly payment plans to increase revenue).

Whatever the people here claim, the official site (unleashthefury.com) doesn't list anywhere whether this will be a free game or not (at least i didn't see any info pertaining to payments or lack thereof). I too would assume they'll follow the WoW method of initial and monthly payment.

n/a here means Not Available, thought it can also mean Not Applicable.

I was just wondering, would anyone know how much this game would cost? Either monthly or an upfront payemnt....
  • sirvsirv Member Posts: 24
not at this moment, and seeing as release date is currently 'somewhere' in 2007 that might be a while...
  • ExoneratedExonerated Member Posts: 3

Is it right to assume that the game will come early 2007? or mid or even late 2007?... i am just so eager to start.

True enough. Release dates are very susceptible to change. On the other hand if you've seen screenshots it's looking pretty good so you could expect them to be just a few months away from a beta. While 'release date 2007' can mean anything from 'early 2007' to 'early 2008' (or later), i'd guess beta will start first half of 2007. Like i said before, there's no official data on a release date (besides '2007').

You made the same mistake as me and started off a thread where everyone talks why it's good to pay/not pay for a game. There's one of these in the Pirates of the Burning Sea thread, Pay2Play. There is loats of info there on why paying for gaming is good or bad. I'm on your side because I won't pay monthly for a game.

    source: http://au.pc.ign.com/articles/743/743865p2.html

" ... Eventually, according to COO Tony Hilliam, once the game is out, there will be a free trial version, with a "business model that is as unique as our game is." When pressed farther, he added "It won't be the Guild Wars Model and it won't be the WoW model." It's a shrouded comment that leads us to believe that micropayments for unique and powerful equipment is a possibility, or that perhaps the core game will be free, but subscribers will get full access to all of the realms and content. ... "

So basically, it won't be "pay once AND pay monthly" (WoW), and it won't be "pay once" (GW).

I don't see how this relates to the topic ("Does this game cost money!"), but here goes:

What will the minimum specification be to run the game?

Fury is built on Unreal Engine 3 and we expect our minimum specification to be around the level of a 2.6GHz CPU with 1GB RAM and a 5700FX video card. This will be confirmed when we begin working on optimization towards the end of the year.

For the beta test we expect to have a higher requirement of a 6800 or better video card

    So, 2 things.

    1) we expect our minimum specification to be around ...

    2) minimum specs are never a good thing in a multiplayer game. My guess is you probably will be able to run it in any case (unless the program forces you to have minimum specs), but lag will be there.

Still, that's some low specs considering what i've seen from the Unreal 3 engine...

    I could not agree more!!!!

I think free to download and install the software online, but you pay monthly to pay is the way to go. I also believe it gives the companies a chance to give free trials for 7-14 days etc to entice more people. You can't exactly offer a free trial when you have to shell out 40+ bucks just to get the software.

i will probably get, yelled at and laughed at and insulted by this, but im gona try explain my thoughts.

This game is from what ive heard and seen, a 3d person view hacknslash game or in short a PVP ONLY<< ONLY>> game.

Name 1 PvP only game that has a monthly fee, let me tell you one of the most well known PvP ONLY games out there(little off here cuz its not a MMO) Battlefield, thats pay once, tada CRAP SERVERS but its free...

So basicly if they would make it P2P i think there down for a deathsentance, and i also highly doubt they will because i hope they have done their share of marketing and research and know that P2P will not work with this kind of game.
