so many people are complaining about swg after Combat Update, even the devs know that the game sucks, why dont they do what EQ did and release an origional/progression server, that is only Pre-CU, it would be great for the game, so many people would return...any opinions on why this is or isnt good?

    I agree with you.  I can't believe that no one has brought up this idea before?

    It has many times, trust me. The Devs just wont have it.

    It's said in the coming months, maybe four months, there will be pre-NGE servers. I don't know if its from a reliable source, but I'm still playing SWG today and a good friend of mine in my guild said he has a bud whos a dev. He said that in like four months SOE will release pre-NGE and pre-CU servers. He also mentioned something about something very important in 10 months, I forgot though.

    Maybe in 10 months they will put that game out of its misery.

    I love these, I have a friend who knows a guy who heard someone say ......ect  rumors.

    one question i thought of when thinking of this, how would the new content work? the new content in trials of obi won was tuned for CU...would they have to retune the mechanics of the encounters?

    Timmy, I'm afraid that Star Wars Galaxies has to go live on a farm in the country where there'll be enough space for him.  I know, you've gotten pretty attached to him - heck, he's become one of the family.  But don't you worry, he's going to be very happy.  Where he's going, there'll be plenty of other MMOs for him to run and play with and rabbits for him to chase.  You'll see.  It's all for the best.

    Haha there were calls for a classic server in EQ for ages and SoE continually dismissed the suggestions, even when there was like a thousand page thread on it. Anyway eventually, they do a U-turn but make it look as if it wasn't by announcing the 'progression server'.

    I agree with you.  I can't believe that no one has brought up this idea before?

    HeH its a real shame in a way that the OP didnt spot the sarcasm on this it just flew over his head [Watches OP look over his head in interest].

     

    But no this idea has been sujjested BILLIONS of times [slight exaduation here].

    i know that, but my main concern is how the new content would balance if they would revert it back to Pre-CU on a diff server

    yeah pre-cu was great, even after post-cu was bearable!



    but they had big issues too!! thats why they  tried to change the game in the first place!

    theres a reason the change changed so much! they can't balance the old skillsystem ! it's just that simple.



    remember the red, green and blue bar? how we all just aimed at that blue bar because it was the only thing one couldn't heal or buff as much??   it was just as bad!!!!!!!!



    really I love the thought of the early days aswell, but it really wasn't much better imho!

    and the other issues as with loads of houses everywhere will still arise within the first few months of the new server(s)!

    or the issue of having all the best resources available after half a year time or so thus creating more imbalances in gear!



    although I would return the first 2 months of the PRE-CU servers just to live through that great experience of feeling "little" as in part of the big picture (cough empire or rebellion) again!



    and then I'd see people kite big krayts again and eventually it would all be just as bad again :P







    Sorry guys, but SWG was just as bad in the beginning as it is now! Stop trying to fix it or return it to previously!

    the only place this game will end up is the garbage can! you're just extending its short life at this moment!

    Wrong forum... shoo g'way... no more bad memories allowed this close to Christmas!



    SWG was once my favorite MMO.... then SOE went and did the CU...  then they REALLY went and messed things up with the NGE.  I will never ever buy another game they have anything to do with.

    sorry for the question but how's swg really like i never played cuz i heard it sucks but i think it looks interesting... can any1 tell me the good things and the bad things about it?

    I actually have much more hope in the swg emu server project than in some words from a sony dev......because all who played during the fatefull year 2005 KNOW that you cant trust SOE with ANY they ever tell you. - sorry if i couldnt supress my hate.
