The guy in red looks all disproportioned and contorted, other than that the picture totally looks touched up.

They have addressed the issue of their screens being touched up before, there is a disclaimer on the website. They could be lying, but that doesnt make a lot of sense. I think the engine really is that good.

    Where's the disclaimer?
I went to the website, and clicked on Screenshots, the title reads:
    Unaltered In-Game Screenshots

    What's the deal?

Are your in-game screenshots altered in any way? Do you rework them in an art program before adding them to the site?

No, our Screenshots Section includes only totally unaltered in-game images. We use a distinctive glow technology that gives a fantastical appearance to the game. All the in-game screenshots that are in our Gallery are completely unaltered, and come straight from the game to you.

From their FAQ. By disclaimer I mean that they are refuting accusations that the screens are altered.

Glad that you like the shot! I can assure you that there is no Photoshopping or alteration going on of any kind whatsoever. These are actual in-game screenshots taken on quest maps on which our alpha testers are playing every day. As you've read here and on other forums, the testers will confirm that the game looks exactly as presented in our screenshots.

But as you may have read in our feature article in the May PCGamer, we've spent a lot of time answering the question of alteration, simply because people aren't used to seeing in-game screenshots of this quality.

So we don't mind saying it again -- No pixel was harmed (or altered) in the production of this screenshot. :)

Thanks Gaile for dropping by and setting it straight image

That must be *some* compliment when people don't believe that your screens could possibly be real...LOL.

Keep up the good work guys...we here at MMORPG.COM have a very watchful eye on you image

Again, we're really glad you like the shot. But again, do check out my post above. I stated it with a smile, but honestly, there is no art enhancement going on. There is no touching up being done. What you see in the shot is what you get in the game. Cross our hearts!  :)

Rob Smith, Editor in Chief of PC Gamer, can attest to to the screenshots' unaltered state, and he does in the May PC Gamer article. Play Magazine's Editor in Chief, Dave Halvorson, will tell you the same thing, and does, in their April and May two-part interview. And our testers confirm this fact every day on our many fansite forums, including this one. We'd love you to visit with them, and ask all the questions you like. With hundreds of testers, I'm sure you'll agree there isn't a conspiracy, and they surely aren't on the ArenaNet payroll. They will tell you -- to a one -- that the images you see are taken in the game world you play. Please check www.guildwar.com/community for a listing of fansites.

And we want to thank you again for the compliment. For saying the art is unbelievable is a high compliment indeed! :)
