I want to get into EVE, I played the trial 6-8 months ago and I enjoyed it but I want to get into it now for real. I want to get into the PvP aspect of it, I Know im gonna get owned my first few months of PvP just because ill be in a cruddy ship but I think the PvP in EVE seems cool. I never PvP'd in EVE, and I am not even sure how it works but i've just watched a few videos. Could someone possibly help me out into getting into the PvP aspect of EVE? Possibly talking about it over ventrilo, I would gladly join a corp or something as well. Just Private Message me or post in the topic.

The best way for a beginner to get into PVP is to become a tackler. You're not going to do very well on your own early on, so you'll need a place in a gang, and being a tackler is one of the least skill/money intensive positions. Basically you get a small, fast ship and engage targets with modules that cripple them (webifiers and warp scramblers, in specific, possibly other electronic warfare modules), this gives the slower ships an opportunity to move into range and do the real damage.

I'd recommend making a post on the Corp Recruiting forums on the EVE-O site ( http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=channel&channelID=109585 ) and tell them the same thing you said here.

I'm sure that there are plenty of PvP corps out there that would be more than happy to have another PvP pilot in their ranks and would be willing to train you.

BTW, the first thing about PvP in EVE is to get used to losing ships.  It sucks, and it can get expensive, but it's a fact that you'll have to learn to get accostomed to.  Find yourself a good ISK making method and just use cheap ships to start with.  And like everyone always says, never EVER fly something you can't legitimately afford to lose.  If you are affraid to get into a fight cause you REALLY don't want to lose the ship you're in, don't fly that ship, especially in PvP.

Yes, sign up for a corp active in pvp (not just one saying they've got a 'pvp wing', which translates to them doing as little fighting as humanly possible), active in your tiemzone (important), and able to provide you with frigates at no cost or in trade for some effort in corp ops.

Then go and pvp. Remmber that eve will require you to put in time doing something that earns isk or builds you ships, you can't pvp 23/7 and never have to put in other effort. But you can go a long way especially when you're new and dying costs next to nothign on a corp scale.

Nice advise in the aboves posts. Just to add a little of my own; Try to get into a Corp that is active in 0.0 space, or at least has some access to it. As a good way of making money is killing NPC's in 0.0, their bounties are high and the loot can be very good.

Before you go into 0.0 you're going to need to train up for a Battleship, Armor Hardeners, and various Cap. skills.... of course, guns too. ^^ Is it possible (or was, i've never tried this myself) to kill the "Rats" in a cruiser, as the speed of your ship is faster than the NPC's weapons can track. That's very risky, and i wouldn't advise you to do it unless you feel confident.

Try interceptors for PvP'ing, once you start making money in the game you shouldn't have any problems replacing an interceptor, they're awesome for tackling, and also a hard ship to get out of once you're in... the speed is great.

Yup  i would absolutly  recommend u to start out as a tackler,    u will  learn   fast and the ships you`ll  loose is  next to no  value... alot better to loose a fully fittet  T2  Bs  to a catecamp  og due to lag in a big fleetbattle :-)    so my friend  be a tackler learn   and when not pvp` ing   gang up with the guy`s and do some ratting and earn isk  to get better ships modules aso aso

    Excellent, excellent advise EvilC.

Think of it like applying for a job in real life.  Shop around a little, keep notes on the different corps you talk to and their representatives.  If someone rubs you the wrong way, don't be afraid to tell them that you're not really interested.  Remember, if you DO get really into EVE, you may be spending many hours a day for the next months or years with these people.  Don't settle for jerks you don't really like.  Look around till you find just the right corp.  The people you associate with can totally make or break your EVE experience.
