I'm just curious to see what people who have played both games think. I'm still really new to Archlord (only level 8), but the feel of the games seems similar to me thus far. So, I'm kindof wondering, what does Archlord have that Lineage 2 doesn't? Of course, I'm guessing the main reason is that Archlord doesn't have a subscription fee, but you tell me...

i play non now though, im still looking for another mmorpg..so far i couldnt find any at all, ive played so many, but they just dont have ''it''
i have played L22 trial for 2 weeks, and played archlord.
wanna compare archlord to something? then compare it to shadowbane
EQ2, L2, FF, vangyard and WoW are a lot better.. just not a little, i mean 5 years of development better
i really dont understand why anyone playing this game could have fun playing it
Erynis, You played Only 1 day. you don't know jack about the game. Don't pretend you even have a clue what your talking about.
Lol.. you played L2 2 weeks...I played it for a year and played AL since Beta...as well as ~ 300 Days in FFXI...btw its spelled Vanguard.
L2 is better than AL in one aspect...player numbers...unfortunately both have farmer numbers in proportion to the population.
AL was alot of fun before the "hell patch" now it is just about grinding/farming to 99.
L2 was fun...but botters/farmers are ruining it.
SB looks like a really dated MMORPG..because it is.
I have played both games to high lvl.
Both are similar in that the pve is a mindless repetitive grind. At least with L2 there are raids with nice drops.
AL has more quests.
AL has better customization of armour and weapons, one of the few really good things going for it.
L2 lets you pick female or male - which I prefer.
As far as pvp goes L2 hands down is better. AL has a bounty system that practically wrecks pvp, it also has a very narrow lvl range for free pvp - that doesnt encourage pvp, rather discourages it - which is odd for a "hard core" pvp game. I honestly think when they say hard core - its the pve they are talking about.
There is absolutely nothing hardcore about the pvp in Archlord. NOTHING. You even have rez orbs you can buy and just keep rezzing in the same spot if you want.
AL is free - so this has helped them raise the number of players who actually play the game - but heh - it's hard to boast how many people play your game and why they play it - when the main reason their playing is because its free.
L2 has seiges, AL has not - only promises.
The reason AL can only promise changes or future content because they are the distributor not the developer - alas this is the major downfall of the game , the CM's are nice and very involed with the community - but at the end of the day - they can't do much except - change the billing. (yup you guessed it the major game change they've made - was make it free).
At the end of the day I really dont know why you would bother playing either game - their both a waste of time.
If you like pve - their both extremely lacking with no challenge whatsoever - WoW and EQ2, AC1 are much much better games.
If you like pvp - their both lacking and discourage open pvp because of their level restrictions - SB, DAOC and EVE are much much better pvp games.
I have played pretty well every major mmo out there to high lvl.
EQ1 EQ2 WoW DAOC AC1 AC2 EVE Shadowbane L2 UO AO CoH GW and yes I 'm sure I have forgotten some.
I generally do not play Korean mmo's - so before you rag on me about neglecting them - they are not considered major titles in the Western Market like AC, EQ or WoW. ie: Ragonok is a childs game with childs graphics - and I'm an adult - sorry I wont play it. I also don't like mindless grind of many Korean mmo's. I've also noticed the games that players seem to like so much here are the ones that are free.
Free doesn't make a good game, but I suppose if I was unemployed or a student, I'd have to suck it up and play one.
AL and L2 are bad games imo, and yes I played them - I admit it.
I have to agree with you. L2 is a better game but Archlord's weapon and armor customization is far superior in my opinion.
Though I don't think the animations are better in Archlord.

well if your compareing todays L2 i would say any and all free MMOs are better then L2. L2 was a decent fun luving/hateing game, but now they butchered it so badly its not even worth looking at let alone pay for. So to answer your question "YES" Archlord is better then L2
thats your opinion, i liked L2, but i hate archlord.
Besides, you can play l2 private servers for free, and there are alot of them. I know alot of long time players, myself included, got so tired of the Chinese botters on retail that we quit and went to private servers. L2 is a really good game at its heart; The rates are really low, i guess koreans have absolutly nothing else todo, but that aside, it had some great aspects to it you couldn't find anywhere else. Sadly, the Koreans never seem to care about stopping farmers, so like most korean mmo's the farmers destroyed the economy and chased of alot of players.
Thats the one thing i give Blizzard props on, they had the balls to simply ban all chinese players that try to connect to NA/Europe servers, even if it costs them some sub's. I have to wonder if l2 would even have enough sub's now to keep running if every last chinese was banned.
So in conclusion, they both suck; If you must play one or the other, play an l2 private server, because its a whole lot more fun than leveling beside masses of bots for your first 3-6 months, or have to e-bay just to get anywhere because the economy is inflated beyond even God's saving. AL is an even worse knock off of l2, and eventually its going to be farmed out just as bad the way they are going. Niether of them is worth paying anything for at this point imo, there are completly free mmo's now that are more fun than either of them.
l2 is most currupted mmo..... insane economy.... 99.9% no1 play legit..... even the game itself sucks..... crappy skill animation..... less skill...... crappy enviorment with less objects...... only thing is awesome is the charecter modelings....... limit customization
archlord rocks! plenty of skills! beautiful skill animation! also its customizable! u get 1 skill point each lv.... and to earn skill u need skill point.... theres plenty of skill to learn.... it let u be careful on what skill u spin on....... u gotta think carefully..... and what skill u want to max out...... its not like l2 where the skill tree is straight foward with no customization and mostly u can learn all skill which dont let the players think hard on skills they get but archlord... u gotta think hard since the skill point is limited....
theyr all about look how fast i can click!
dont get me wrong i luv em , you can chat with your friends there and click things and watc ur char do stuff, thats what your basicly doing (if you have friends ) otherwise u just lcik things and you watch your char do stuff and dont talk to friends duh
i fell asleep last night because i was up late and my friends were asleep so i wasnt chatting , just killing things (clikcing things and watchving my char hit them ) lol.... mmorpgs......why do i even play them

I played L2 in c1 and didnt get that far considering it was c1 so I quit.
Came back in c5 and the game was 4 times better, although thats not saying much.
When I came back I noticed finding other players that werent bots and not being in a town is some EXTREMELY rare shit.
And no one can disagree with that because I played on Bartz and had gone all over the world, to every place survivable (remembers 40s).
Well the point is, if Archlord isnt updating and has similar botting problems like L2, then its obvious that L2 is better.
Once again, not saying much considering L2 is a decent game(with no chance of ever having PvE quality) with a huge botting issue.
