Kill Bill

rathmarathma Member UncommonPosts: 3,786

I recently watched kill bill volume 1. I thought it was a great movie, very violent image.

Has anybody gone out and seen the second one? Just wondering if it's any good.

There is a chance that I might see it today. If I do I'll say so.

Although I am not sure you will like it SD. This one is completely opposite. Only a little bit of fighting, and a whole lot story (backgrounds and show-downs). separate they seem quite different, the first much faster passed and jumping around, this one more plot-driven. But together they make an awesome movie! Probably in my top 5 movies of all time (or somewhere close up there).

    Oh yeah... Pei Mei owns.

A Volume 3? Hmmm... Not sure there are enough people left in the end, lol. I dunno, but if it is true, I don't care how he wierd he twists the plot as long as it happens.

Just saw Vol. 2 yesterday and I was kind of disappointed.  It was almost too opposite of the first one.  I love sword fights & the few fight scenes that were in the movie were cut extremely short.  I would definitely say the chapter with Pai Mei was the highlight of the movie.  The quick out of focus close-ups where done in great 70s kung fu movie style.

Allow me start proclaiming Quentin Terentino as one of the better producers out there.  His films definitely are not "Main-Stream" Hollywood, which right there sets him apart!

I finished watching Kill Bill (Vol. 1) today and I enjoyed it thurougly.  The movie is cut together extremely well, very comic-book like but at the same time, extremely realistic.  I love his use of angels, colors and actors.

As of the first one being such a great watch, I have now built up anticipation to see Kill Bill (Vol. 2) which I wont see until it comes out on DvD.  Hope those of you who have seen this movie enjoyed it! image

I don't see why so many people like the Kill Bill films. I only saw the last 45 minutes in the first movie, but from it I can tell that the sword-fights are simply outrageously unrealistic, the dialogue isn't very great, and the film has pointless moments of characters just standing around. I probably should watch the entire Kill Bill vol. 1 movie before judging the entire movie, but I'm afraid of waisting my time watching a movie I won't like. If a movie is going to have swordfights, they actually have to be believable for me to like the movie. Kill Bill vol. 1 just seemed plain stupid to me.

I'm sorry if you feel the sword fights and martial arts (KF) are not realistic.

Believe it or not, the elements you witness in the 2 films are real. There is CGI work involved but for the most part, before the time of gunpowder, this was the way of power and survival within Asia and Japan.

Films such as these are the pride of the producer and their advisors. It is with productions such as this, that the name is worth more than the film.

Quentin Terentino is renowned for his works and these 2 movies are enough reason to see why.

I would advise watching the entire movie and its sequal.

Well, part one is fairly realistic, especially Uma's knife fight with Viveca Fox. Part two has some CG'ed wire-fu, but that's because Tarantino is emulating the 70's wire-fu movies, which are essentially fantasy. This movie (and it is only one movie btw, the studio made him break it into two parts because its 3.5 hours long) is a pastiche of references to different film genres. He didn't just produce it, he wrote and directed.

LOL...I never said that martial arts and sword fights are unrealistic. I said that this movie is unrealistic. This movie does contain realistic combat, it just does not contain realistic effects of combat.

1 person against 100, and the one person wins...bull shit. The way the blood sprays out of the body when limbs are cut off is unrealistic (I think in reality, blood would pour out of the body, like a gentle fountain would). A lady surviving 1+ hour with her arm cut off, unrealistic. A lady talking with half of her brain chopped off, unrealistic. A person carrying a sword, in plain view, on a commercial passenger plain, unrealistic. The main character surviving after repeatedly getting smashed in the chest with a spiked metal ball, unrealistic.

This is why I call this movie unrealistic. I have seen many martial arts and sword fighting movies that I have enjoyed. This was not one of them because it is not believable. I like realistic sword fights and martial arts such as the movie "The Last Samurai" provided. That's what I was trying to say in my previous post.

The thing is that the movie is not supposed to be realistic. It's similar to most of Quentin Tarentino's other movies. In other words: style over substance. Personally I prefer it this way because it is what makes the movie unique and interesting. Otherwise it would just be another gory action movie, and there are enough of those as it is. Although the Last Samurai was good too, but I don't think it is possible to compare the Last Samurai to Kill Bill (and I am not talking about how good the movie was, just the way the movies were presented).

The Inn scence was not 100 v 1.. it was more like waves of 20... about 4 of them. The fighting was speratic and cautious. Not a gun slinging and hoe film where you run in guns blazing without a care in the world. Scenes like this are not about blood and guts but the artistic nature of battle. The blood issue is inncorrect. At first there is a spray due to the pressure in the blood. Maybe not as Dramatic as in the film (in the animation especially) but there would be, then reduce to a slow pulse till the heart stops.

As for the woman, im with you there. Shock should have killed her and the loss of blood.

If anyone thinks this to be a hollywood fight movie or a traditional martial arts film, then this movie isnt for you. There is more to the film than just what you see on screen. Much like "The Matrix".

Anyhow im not going to go into this anymore because there are some that have yet to see it.

errr...yeah you kinda got me there. What I originally meant to say that the gore effects and the different things that surrounded the battle were a bit unrealistic.

It being so unrealistic is what makes it so fun to watch...

Kill Bill is Kung-Fu Theatre meets Pulp Fiction...
