Building a new system

Will this work well for Vanguard?  I thought I might give it a try once my new parts come.

AMD 64 X2 4200+ windsor Socket AM2 Processor

MSI K9N SLI Platinum Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 Motherboard

EVGA Geforce 7600GT 256MB PCI Express Video Card

2Gigs of DDR2 800 Ram

Western Digital 160GB 7200RPM Hard Drive

Do you think that this will run the game pretty well?

Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

i see that you picked a motherboard thats "platinum" wich means itl probably not be 32bus SLI so thats basicly useless, Also if you want to go SLI buy 2 of the same graphic cards (i have 2 asus Nvidia 7600GT) but you need to buy them fast else the BIOS is changed and they wont work.. but if your mobo is not full 32bus SLI then i DISRECCOMEND THAT, and recommend that you get a 7900 or higher of the Nvdia series

And yes i know i should check that mobo before posting this =P but im to lazy

forgot to awnser the question, Yea that system will run Vanguard pretty smoothly if my geusses are right. That proccesor is topnotch the RAM is plenty and the VGA is decent =]

    * and your mobo is SLI 8x2 not 16x2 so may i advice you get the 7950? just in my oppinion it would be a waste to let half a VGA go to waste in SLI

yeah itll run it, what the heck you think. . .if you have new parts coming in is someone building it for you or what?

if you were posting this to sport your rig, i'd say your rig sucks cause u got an sli board and one  video card. .

Actually I wasn't sure if it could run it.

I definately wasn't trying to show off, since I tried to put together something decent that had room to upgrade, but I was looking to spend under 700 dollars.  If I was going to put together a system for bragging, I definately wouldn't be spending so little on it.

Hey this is my spec atm

    P4 3.6ghz

    2gb ram

    radeon x850 XT PE

    Soundblaster audigy2

    PCI-E mobo(cant remember the type)

300 gb 7200 rpm hard drive.

Do I need an upgrade? I mean is it worth spending lots on 64 bit dual ciore processor. Then ill have to change the mobo too? Also on dual graphics cards. Any help appreciated.

If you need to, you could scale down your ram a bit and get the 667 that'll save some dough.  And I for one do not like mixing vid cards and mobos, especially an MSI mobo with anything else.  I have a P4N diamond and my next SLi rig is gonna be EVGA.

Also, partition your SATA 2 drive you're getting. and put vanguard on it's own partition.

The only reason I am upgrading is my Video card is going bad on my old PC.  I have currently a

AMD 64 3500+ (but unfortantely its teh 754 pin processor)

ATI Radeon 9800XT 256 MB Video Card (AGP though)

    1gig of ram

When I ran the system requirement check this PC failed anyways for the recommended requirements for Vanguard.  So since it failed and my vid card is going bad, I figured I would upgrade.

It should play vanguard fine, doubt you will be able to play without lagg on high detail. But before you ordered the parts you should of looked into video cards and such and understood them a bit more. Yes.. you are wasting a sli slot.. and it would help quite a bit to have that second card, and that is a pretty good processer for the price. I do like the x2's better then the fx, fx's are only meant for more power for overclocking. But its bad when i can pay 1500 for a laptop thats better then that, which excluding the case, fans, monitor, etc. Theres about 1000 there, depending on were you buy the stuff.

Just FYI my laptop has amd turion x2 4200+ processor, 2 gig of ram, Asus duel sli motherboard with duel 7600 geforce 512mb video cards. 100 gig hdd. Custom laptop ftw. Portable gaming.. id like to see a dell break this xD. Only bad thing is.. i overclocked my processor a bit(Lol yes i did take my laptop apart to change the jumpers) And i have to use a cool pad.. and laptop goes off when im not using it. But it plays games awesome. Can play some of the top knotch games out like oblivion without lagg on high detail. And only 17.1 inch monitor :(. I need to buy a projector.

Warning: If you dont know how to overclock a processor find somebody who does. Because they go POP and could take off a finger xD

No, Vanguard is a first person shooter and you need an 880GTX  nividia mobo in SLi, 4 gigs of RAM and a Core 2 Duo Extreme Edition overclocked to 3.4 gigs.

At the moment vanguard doesn't support SLi

erm every thing supports SLI it just doesnt work together like 1 takes lightning effects and shader pipes while the other renders it, now 1 will just run quietly and take care of the graphics of the background programs(yes IE expl and your desktop take up graphics) and if sony doesnt support SLI or crossfire its majorly OUTDATED!

And as far as i know its not a FPS it might be first person but its NOT a shooter and quit talking bull with the pentium stuff like tha "Core 2 Duo Extreme Edition overclocked to 3.4gigs" and you dont even overclock a CPU to "gigs" that goes to "GHz"

I guess for the more dense of us we need to say Optimized. . .sorry that I caused you so much confusion.

And for the even more dense I think I should have added(sarcasm) to the post.  Keep forgetting to optimize my speech for Homo neanderthalensis

Please keep the attacks to a minimum :)

Although I think the sarcasm was dripping from that first post about needing 3.4gigs etc. :)

If you have another 700$ to spare, then get Nvidia 8800. I personaly dont realy  use SLI becuase you will never get a 100% performance out of the 2nd card. At best maybe 90%. So its best to buy a single card twice the speed and twice the price.
