How bad is the population?

dirtyd77dirtyd77 Member UncommonPosts: 383

Well I know it's no where near what it used to be but to say that there are 50 people on servers is not true. Here is a screen shot from just a few minutes ago.

well I hope that link works again. This is a small town in the far north of Tat.  Not anything to wow over but at the sametime not as bad as alot of people make it out to be. This is after the rebels had just held off 3 waves of imp attacks. So in a backwater town on tat you had over 100 players.

Just wanted to pass it along.

Best wishes to all.

yeah i agree, its not as bad as people say it is, the population seems to be slowly on a rise. im on naritus server, and there are easily 3-4 dozen people at Mos eisley, and roughly 40-80 people imp and rebel duking it out either on restuss or one of th weapons depot as per the chatter on rebel channel states. for a while it dipped to low levels, but as of now, on naritus seems to be coming back to some what  healthly levels, though i use the term healthy loosely. id reckon there is easily 500-1,500+ on naritus alone at any given time. rori tends to be very active which makes for some interesting pvp battles at the SP or inside the city. id say in conclusion it isnt as bad as people make it out to be, i think there is much room for improvement, as people come back, more people will comeback out of curiousity. never know til ya peek inside, worth it as far as im concerrned since im having a bit more fun now base busting, grabbing comms from the city quests, and what not with my guild.

The population is very much on the rise... In fact, SWG is thriving like never before. Come have a look at Europe-Chimaera, for example!

Well Obraik   yes it was a base bust however the imps always know where the bust is so they show up and provide some fun pvp.  I would not be able to sit around at a base bust without some action.-

I hate base clubbing with a passion :P  This is a topic that will make me say bad things about SOE & the group of players that participate in it :P

can anyone give me a count of how many jedi are in this picture????
  • dirtyd77dirtyd77 Member UncommonPosts: 383
sure there are around 10 or so.    Alot less than there used to be during NGE.  I see where your going with your question. All I can say is that Jedi #'s really are dropping because. 1 they have no content or role in GCW for the most part. 2. They are not a good prof for PVP.   You actually see alot more spy's and medics and commando's than you do jedi these days.

No worries don't want to upset you.  Or for you to say bad things about me!

To be fair they are Nerfing this with Ch. 5 to an extent anyway.  I'm sure you know this already though.  Very soon it will be much harder to hold one of  these events.  Well maybe not harder just it will need to be much more planned out  in advance.

i dont see much these days since i canceled my account, but about a month ago when i was on about 7 out of 10 people were jedi. and just because you only see 10 (i actually caught 12) doesnt mean that there isnt more than there.

True, but they're not nerfing/fixing it nearly as hard as I would like.  If I had my way, base deeds would be no trade and the vulnerability time would be random.  There would also be points for defending your base...

I like all of those ideas. And I would not be surprised to see the random vulnerablity time come in sometime in CH. 5 when they realize the the 4 hr timer is a minor hiccup to people. I would love to see points for defending I am all for anything that promotes healthy fun PVP. Not sure I see that one being implemented though.

Well this was my screenshot  so I know not all of the people in cloaks are jedi. But I did just do a random scan. Anyway on Bloodfin the number of jedi have dropped signifigantly over the past couple of months. Again they have no content or purpose in GCW and they are at a disadvantage in PVP these days. I mainly use my Jedi for PVE and keep a medic and spy around for PVP.

I hope you find a game you enjoy b/c in the end thats why we play games, to have fun.

yes we do play games to have fun, but when it comes to MMOs most people like diverse community also, im sure everyone can agree with that.  so raise your galsses and cheers to those who still play, have fun, and for those who dont, hope we can find ourselves a new game where we can enjoy diversity.

The crrent population of SWG is at a point where the President of SOE has recently stated that they need to "fasttrack" server merges.  You don't merge servers if you have enough people using them.

I'll take that as sarcasm. It may be on the rise, but it is NOWHERE even close to what we had pre-nge or pre-cu when I could find HUNDREDS of players by visiting just 3 starports.

Ok, I have alot more faith in you now. You have admitted to at least one major problem.

I assumed all Generals grinded hru baseclubbing.  How did you handle the grind?

Obee  thanks for posting and that is a valid point. I never said there was enough people. I just said there were more than people were stating. I personally think a server merge and a house cleaning would be fantastic for the game.

I got my points through PvP, a bit of ground PvE and Kessel.  People whine that it's too hard to get GCW outside of base clubbing but the other options aren't all that difficult and if it's too hard then to be perfectly honest, you don't deserve to get to the General rank lol.  You only need to get 21k per week, anything more is hugely negated due to diminishing returns.  An hour a day in Kessel is enough to fill this goal.

(I'm speaking generally btw, not directed at you)

I am from Euro-Chim, and I played pretty much non-stop from July to Dec. I watched the population slowly rise from July to Nov, and then tank again from Nov-Dec. My sub ran out in January which was well into the finality of the NGE expertise for combat classes. My guild, New Valor, was doing pretty well until the expertise was finished, and we realized that what was being done was little more than a bandaid for what had been destroyed a year prior. The worst moment for me was when my medic finally got the ability to buff, yet those buffs meant less than a single percentage points worth of chances in combat outcome. With the lack of content, ease of PvE and lack of equiptment and player diversity, we quickly lost interest. Most of my remaining m8s headed out the door following. Restuss is fun, I cannot fight that when the sides are equal, but it was mostly a rebel gank. In my last weeks the imbalance became intolerable, and the fun was quickly over.

I agree with you on one point, there are areas on tat that are quite poplulated, and one cantina that is always busy, but minus Restuss, the server is very quiet.

Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom.

Tried: WoW, Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Everquest, WWII Online, Planetside

    Beta: Lotro, Tabula Rasa, WAR.
