RO is a terrible game when you must download KRO Sakray and KRo itself. It would take up already a day to download both even with broadband. Thoses RO without KRO and Sakray will crah easily too!!!
[colour=blue] Even thought i am small, dosen't mean i can't hack!!
Use an official server, not your friends crappy private server. Took me 15 minutes to download the game with a cable modem. Also it won't crash so easy and you will have better support. It comes with a 15 day free trial and then in p2p.
Gravity didn't invent what your playing. Some freeloader did.
On a side note. The original creator made this as an attempt to bring something revolutionary onto the market since when it was created, mmos were a new thing. Now 1/4th of every mmo copies it since it was such a success in Asia. What was planned to be implemented in it during release was pretty immense and would have been great fun. Unfortunetly, that was stopped by money mongers. Luckily those money mongers are gone and the game is starting to make a turn for the good.
=_= i cannt realy say anything because you people are so anti private server i will get banned but there are good private servers out there and they were introduced before RO was pay to play so it is realy like another server/channel only free ^^
I remember when they were introduced and the guy who made the first one. Ya Private Servers can be fun but there is so much to them that makes them bad for the actual game.
First, the company who makes and publishes updates isn't getting as much money making them making the updates come slower and have less content. If those people who played on private servers played on actual servers, then Gravity can really develop out this game. Also updates to the US will come almost right after Korea instead of the 6 month delay we are currently at. In the US alone the Private Server players is estimated around 400k, thats 4 million a month. It's also a kick in the face to the people who actually made the game, and stealing thier game without any appreciation for thier hardwork. Then you can't really expect private servers to update them as well as official servers. They steal the updates from kRO mostly, except when they come they are usually bug ridden until iRO gets thiers and then they steal its client coding and back-code it to make it work on the server.
Second, the way that private servers came about almost killed the game. The source was leaked by a hack into the development server. After the hackers took this source, they destroyed the kRO server. This ultimately delayed the release of iRO, killed half the development, and nearly destroyed the publishing company who put millions into the game that were lost. If the developing company actually went under during that time, then private servers wouldn't have lasted 6 months. Now you expect people who act this malacious to give you a quality game. Also all private servers to this day are partially based on snippets of this leaked source. You cannot expect an indy group of 6 guys to program an equivalent engine in 4 years that originally took 25 programmers 3 years to do.
Third, the actual servers suck compared to the official ones. We are talking about good support. Don't believe me, I usually get my problems answered within minutes using the Bug Report BBS, and under an hour using the GM-Email system. They have a 24/7 support staff that is without a doubt one of the top 5 support staffs in the world for an mmo. You would have to wait nearly a week for a private server help, and most of the time the people helping are . Then there is the lag. iRO gets some issues with its use of cogent and gets the occasional severe lag spike. But for most of the time it is up and running incredibly well only going down 2 hours a week. There isn't a private server to date that can match that.
I mean the people who play and operate Private Servers may think of themselves as vagabonds who supposedly offer a better service and get a better playing experience then with Gravity. In reality they are only thieves with little morality that ultimetly make this game do so bad.
ro is an awesome mmorpg. it is my favorite actually. i couldnt play it in a long time and i feel like i wasted a bunch of my life without it. well im only still a kid though. i love mmorpgs and it is also my favorite genre.
RO has something that every single mmorpg lacks of.. Free fun and a REALLY social community. I played it for 4.5 years and i enjoyed every single minute of it.
hey ^^ alot of what you just said does not match up with the private server i played, the updates were before RO usualy, they had ninja, gunslinger and taekwon months before RO got it, customer support was there main priority, every week they released a list of people who were banned for scamming and the linke. the server was online 24/7 and had little lagg (except for prime time however i live in AU so prime time for me is at about twelve and i am usualy at school) there were usualy custom updates like new headgears that worked and looked perfect. this group of six guys got there work done right. dont get me wrong, i still find it kind of wrong however RO was origenalyfree then it turned pay to play, if they had supposidly opened a cash shop where you can buy zenny or rare items for real money that could have funded it, but i just find it greed. i love RO but i cannot pay to play till i have a credit card anyway. when i do then i will pay for the fees but till then i will have to stick to private servers. if the game almost went under because people started thinking "oh, i can get RO for free" then maby they should have introduced somehing new like a new job tree or set of skills or cash shop that you had to pay for.
Ohh you live in Australia. I can understand why you like private servers now. The Oceania RO server is just as bad as a private server only they charge you. iRO is definetly a professional service were the fee is logical.
I am pretty sure Gravity has considered cash shops but decided not to go with it fully. When you think about cash shops in mmo's ultimately it cheapens the player experience. Like having a special class that you have to purchase would ultimately segregate a pay customer from a non-pay since the special class is overpowered.
Also it wasn't ever free. That period before they commercialized the game was the Open Beta Test.
yeah, i checked out Ro in australia and it was pretty crap so i went to a private server. it has less lagg and i am a insomniac so at the times i play at there are alot of people online. i would sadly love to pay for it but it is not worth it. the lagg and the lack. also i do agree about the cash shop thing. in maplestory the cash shop kind of cheapened the experience, you had to pay real money to reset one stat point. also i definately retract my statement about the pay class. if they had a pay class it would be exactly like you said and detur about 1/2 the RO players. and that would explain it. but just another thought. dont you think that beta testers should get free play? i mean, they made a character and had fun then they have to pay or find a new free mmo ^^ who knows anymore. also downloading RO is hard for me. every MMO i have ever downloaded was simple but with RO it never patched and i downloaded a free server and it worked perfectly. i would probably have played RO if my five attempts to download it had worked.
Its probably just an issue from being in Australia. You could be getting IP locked out because they want to increase business for the Oceana version. Beta Testers for Gravity Games really don't need compensation. When the game enters beta test, it just lacks so many bugs that they don't do any actual testing, its practically how it is at release only with 10 times more people and a whole lot more lag. Its really a way to promote the game and gain a fanbase before release.
I used to play RO privates servers but it sucks -.- i think the original 1 is great even though i only played it for an hour ^_^ now i cant wait for RO2 to come out, then i WILL spend as much money as i can on that game. graphics are great and very cute (like the original RO).
