is this going to be a p2p or f2p if its going to be f2p will their be some kind of mall or something if yes what items or stuff? and if its going to be something like p2p then how much and also is it worth paying for that's it
Are there any testers around here that can explain anything about how this game is played and what it's like?
They have some videos up now with gameplay...
Am I missing something here? Dreamlords gets this super sweet idea, a neat way to implement RTS/RPG/turn based, and loosely base the game around RTS PvP (pretty cool) then they make 1/2 to 2/3rds of the game browser based?
If I wanted to get fired from work, I'd bring my laptop.
Watch the demo videos they have, and you'll see the person making the video continually looking at the browser portion... refreshing the page when something changes (resulting from actions in the game client), then he'll minimize the webpage, start the client.exe, log in, do a quick mission... log out, quit the client, open the webpage back up... reopen client... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
What is the benefit here of putting half the game in a browser? Why not make the client handle that part of it? I don't think "So I can play at school/work/in-laws house are very good reasons.

ive been beta testing this for awhile, its like this..
the game is basically in-browser,you start off and you get to pick from 3 races.. at wich point you get 1 city on a floaating island or "patria"...everyones island looks the same, and you cant go to anyone elses island and they cant go to yours. you build a research building, and a barracks in ur city, start research which gives u new abilities/units and recruit a few units, you scout around ur little island and get within radius of little monster icons that spawn. then you open the RTS client, and the monsters name will appear in a "missions" list, select it and fight the monsters rts style, when u kill monsters u get soul shards wich are the currency of the game, sometimes items, u can buy stuff with the soul shards or convert them to gnossis, the more gnossis u have the faster u research, the higher ur population cap, the more cities u can build..the monsters that spawn are based on how much gnossis u have so u have to keep from gaining too much too fast or the monsters will kick your ass, bad.there are little side storyline quests u need to do to help ur guild progress but they arent worth speaking too much about. PvP? Well, basically in the RTS client there are little categories depending on ur gnossis power that are pictures of little islands that are divided up into 25 or so areas, you click one and a flag plops down on the little area and a timer starts.. if nobody challeneges u within 10 minutes u claim the small piece of land for ur guild.. all the land does is give everyone in ur guild like +2% efficiency, barely noticeable, and if you are challenged its like a capture the flags game wich is based more on deploying week little fast units to run around the field capturing flags b4 the other guy can, if u actuall try to fight much you will probably lose.
its basically an in browser game, 90% of ur time is spent using up actions points wich u acquire every 4 min. to click around the little island in the browser and find monsters, go to the rts fight them, rinse , repeat. most of the time your fighting the same things in the same scenarios for 3-4 days just letting research poke along or trying to get up enuf money to buy resources to build better stuff, or acquiring the gnossis to be able to harvest ur own.. wich is also unbelievabley slow..i got to where id just log on, set research, found a couple cities, log off and come back in a few days to change research.. the monster killing is so repetitive, it would make an eq grind seem fun..
the game is ok,for a little while..but to be honest id get more kicks out of a game like archspace, which is free...
interaction between players doesnt go very far beyond asking how to complete this or that mission, trading, and guilds that work to have all members complete certain quests. the only time ur actually playing in the rts with anyone is in the CTF PVP thing.. wich is usually over pretty quick and very dissappointing, many people play the game without ever pvping... wich makes it pretty much a single player game where u can talk to other ppl and trade stuff...
was a great idea, but i dont see it getting very far unless they make some pretty drastic changes. It can be fun, but i dont see many people that are going to be willing to pay a monthly fee for it...maybe a one time fee.
i hate to bash any game, especially one thats doing something new..but, ya know..its the truth lol.
sry if my writing is all screwed up, im deprived of sleep right now lol...i think i repeated myself a few times, all that repetition got to my head i guess heh
now that i think of it i dont really see how this game qualifies as an MMO, more like a single player game with a crappy 2 player option, chat and the ability to buy/sell stuff to other players...
i got a beta account and a month free after release, im done with it.. if anyone wants to give it a try ill hand it over..first come first serve.
Throughout beta theyve made several major changes,,trying this or that out, so u never know they may do something with it..but the basic concept of it was the same, and IMO its no more an MMO than star wars battlefront is on my PS2. btw most if not all of the RTS maps are really small..the units dont dffer much other than this one moves fast but is weak, that one is slow and hits hard, and others can drain life, cast a "gnossis bolt"...its all about ur equipment, theres no building or anything in the RTS like warcraft , everything but fighting and chatting is done in the browser...
I have also been playing this for a few month and I have to disagree with you. I having a blast and still have, I guess it depends on what you want out of a game. I dont have much time to spend playing and this is really casual friendly if you want.
Hi, i'm considering purchasing this game but wanted to give it a go first? just wondering if your offer still stands for that account ulatek if so : johnnyc@mmorpg.com
penguin i agree with you,its a great game for people who dont want to spend hours in front of the computer. I really liked the game at first, and it was fun. I just burnt myself out on it, it wouldnt be the first game i got tired of.If they would broaden the pvp aspect i might play it again.
And yea the offer still stands, ill send u the account info tommorow
The tragedy here is that FINALLY a gaming company steps up to the plate and decides to NOT do the some 'ol thing over again, but doesn;t produce something that people will be willing to spend monthy fee on.
I love the idea and will buy it when it hits the shelves. Even if I only get 1 good month out of it it will be better than standing around in IF looking for a group to do the same zone we did for the past 10 nights.

You can find all this at their site, but just incase you haven't had a chance to visit yet.
To put it short:
Dreamlords will consist of two parts. The webbased management part, and a RTS client for PvE quests and PvP.

thx
don't be stupid its too populer.
honestly i dont know.. and im on ther forums many times a week.
if there would be a fee then i cant think it will be a big one. seeing as you play the RTS on a site mostly i would happely pay 5 € a month for it
