Ditto. I haven't seen anything decent on this title at all. Seems to me like the only thing to do in the Matrix Online is fight agents with your friends, whoop-a-dee-doo. And I dunno about anyone else, but I'm not interested in being a go-fer for Zion, as far as storyline and quests are concerned. The whole business just fails to grab me.
Go get the DVD of the 3rd movie and watch the 10 minute preview of the game.
I wasn't a fan at all of the game before, but that was a very impressive trailer.
You don't have to be a gofer for Zion, you can choose different factions, work for the Machines, work for the Agents, so be good or evil, whichever you prefer.
The combat is really impressive looking.
The game world is going to be astronomically huge, the city will be fully interactive, every single building can be entered, and every room of that building is accessible. And it's all one zone, if you enter a skyscrapper, ride up to the 5th floor and go out on a patio you can look down and see the stairs you just climbed to enter. And if you go further up you can look down and still see it, no zone line between any of it.
Before I saw the trailer I was highly disappointed in the game, didn't feel it was worth my time to even follow, but they showed ALOT in that trailer, anyone who hasn't seen it should definitely check it out.

From watching that trailer on the DVD, it seems to me that most of the of the game time spent playing involves running through apartments, running through buildings, and running on the streets of the big city. Yippeeeeeeeee. More running please...oh I guess you do get to fight sometimes, but that isn't too often as it appears.

Ya I saw a trailer once just like that, showed this guy running and running and running, and that game turned out horrible...oh wait it was Anarchy Online, NOBODY likes that game.

<sigh> I think a lot of people in here have their head up their ass.
If you didn't like the movies, it's pretty clear you likely won't like the game. So why bother posting ? Conceptually the Matrix movies are perfect for an online game. So far, this game looks like it could be everything AO is, but tailored to the Matrix universe, and maybe much better.
Or it might suck. But I'm pretty sure you guys don't know anymore than I do right now. And to say that the Matrix is a passing fad is just pathetic. Even if this game fails miserably, and no more movies are made, the first Matrix was a technically revolutionary film.

Whoah buddy, don't let anyone think I don't like The Matrix in the least. I loved the movies and I'm crazy about the Animatrix, but Matrix Online really doesn't show anything I'd seem to be interested in. It looks a lot like an online War FPS in theory, by that I mean, you log on, and simply fight or do missions for your side. Since it's a war zone and you can't play one of the bystanders (I'm assuming,) that seems to be about all you'll be able to do, and that just won't get my $10 a month. I'm not saying what's there won't be good, just not anything I'm the slightest bit interested in it.
that's just it, you are assuming the game will be a certain way, and what you can imagine it to be - sucks. but someone else is actually making the game using their ideas which may or may not suck. why do you think all you can do is fight and do missions for your side? pretty much all mmorpg's now have rvr/kvk, and you don't just fight and do missions for your side in those games, so why would it be that way in the matrix? you don't know enough about the game, no one does, to say it will suck - instead you are just filling in the blanks with assumed boredom.
Weeeeeeell, actually, for one I am just assuming. Let's not have any argument. For another, if they don't do what I'm assuming, complete power to them. I'm not, in any way, saying they will only do one thing. Good thing I never said it would suck at all. I only said that it won't be my kind of game. Phew. Good thing I didn't say it would suck.
On this note, thanks to all this chaos, I went to MxO's website to see who was in charge of the development, but got sidetracked.
Apparently, there will be crafting, and some sort of information trading. They talk about how everything in the Matrix is made of code, and at different levels of programmer you can supposedly make better things. They also speak of information as a currency and possibilities in gathering information from the Matrix itself. MxO is getting more interesting, but will these non-combat skills turn out to be just a break from the action, a way to improve your combat, or provide an actual haven from constant battling?
Feed, just know that I'm not insulting the game and making wild speculations out of boredom, just saying I won't like it if it turns out the way I think it might. Trust me. If you want to find people who waste their utmost time on negative, wild speculation, we could find you the appropriate forums.
I just saw the trailer on the dvd. The part where they said that only real good people will be able see and interact with characters from the movie was interesting. Who knows this might actually end up to be a good game. im going to have to take a look at it before i buy it though.
I gotta say, if anyone feels like they may not like this game, then that is fine, but what is there to base a good opinion? I can understand if you didn't like the movies or you don't like futuristic or sci-fi games. I haven't seen the trailer yet, but I have been to the website and read some about the game. I ruled this game out simply because there are just too many other mmorpg's that I am interested in, I don't have the time! But I also ruled out World of Warcraft, and lately I have been reading more about it and becoming interested. So my point is, you may say you think the game is not for you now, but when it gets closer to release and there is a lot more information out about the game, some people may change their mind, especially if the game is well done. Right now I don't intend to try it, but I am leaving all my options open from now on. (BTW, I am a big fan of the movies, the first one being one of my all-time favorites).
It won't be out until July (bullcrap!). While it dose look some-what promising, I'm just not to sure. The Matrix 1&2 movies sucked, and Enter The Matrix (every system known to man) sucked ass. I'm sorry, but I just can't have much faith in a title that has had this bad of a reputation! Besides...Who wants to be a whiney, personality-lacking-shade-wearing-over-payed-actor any way? Neo gets on my nerves...

The Matrix movies are the greatest thing that every happen to film. They have done things no one could ever dream of. "Bullet Time"/Slo-Mo Sequences, and the combining of CG, actual people and machinary was beyond anything imaginable. Matrix set a new standard to action and there slow motion fight/action scenes are continually being used by other film makers, this will no doubt continue for the next decade or more.
As for Matrix Online, I was expecting something just as revolutionary and spectacular like the matrix movies. I thought they would ounce again make something people never thought of and redeem themselves for "Enter the Matrix"....... I am still keeping hope for the game, but at this current time I'm not interested in it.

With the budget these guys have and the, sometimes thoughtless, comments of gamers on various forums, I think MxO will be well worth a look. The movies were revolutionary.
I haven't seen the trailer, I'm going to look for it online and see if I can find it. If not, I'll rent the DVD out. The fact that the environment is totally able to be interacted with gives this game major credit by myself. Add in fighting, and the ability to design anything by code and this looks awesome. I love futuristic sci-fi type games; AO, FoMk (Q2 2004) and hopefully I'll be able to test TMO.
I thought I was going to like City of Heroes, the second I walked into the BETA I knew I didn't like the game. Sure, I didn't really give it much chance but I just didn't like the game and it was an urban environment. Now if you were to put the beautiful city of Paragon into "real looking" people and not comic book characters then I'd like it. So as you can see, I'll just have to wait and see if I like the game, but judging from what I have scene and read it looks like I'll like this game.

Uhm, you're saying all there is to do is fight agents, uhm actually there's supposed to be more, but you know that in CoH all there is to do is fight npc "villians"... Alot of people are going nuts about that! (not me, and I don't mean to assume you either, just useing your post to make a point about what passes for great gaming experience to many people)

Matrix is passing fad .Nothing more. Matrix online will be as good and fun as its part 2 and part 3 films ,and the wowful game released last year.
IMO.
I absolutely loved the trilogy.. However the developers have shown me nothing to garner my interest.
Go get the DVD of the 3rd movie and watch the 10 minute preview of the game.
