Vanguard: Saga of Heroes: News Update

StraddenStradden Managing EditorMember CommonPosts: 6,696

The following information was posted on the official Vanguard website on Tuesday the 20th of February and is a "Vanguard News Update".

Memory Leaks

The next patch should fix two major memory leak issues that have been causing many players to crash to desktop somewhat frequently. After the fixes are patched, please let us know on the tech support forums or affiliate fan sites if these issues show up again.

Tooltip Fixes

There were several very annoying issues with tooltips (such as them not displaying an item's correct stats) that have been fixed for the next patch. Deciding whether to roll on loot or not should be much easier now!

Gold Farmer Reporting

The community has been absolutely fantastic at helping us catch gold farmers by reporting them and pointing them out to us. Many bannings have happened already and many more are soon to follow. So please, keep up the good work and thank you!

Oh, if only the first one (memory leak issue) were true.  I've been having severe crashing issues, (9 times on Monday) and I'm a bit fed up with the lost experience (from several times when my corpse was no where to be found) and its taken some of the fun out of the game lately.

I could blame my crappy Dell XPS laptop...but other guildmates with rigs a lot beefier than mine are also crashing regularly (just not as often). So lets hope this turns out to resolve a majority of the crash issues.....

Glad they are taking a stand on money marketers.
Everyone farms in game, be it for experience or loot. They said "farmers", and yet I understand it's the gold sellers they are after. Just seems they could have been more specific in their update.

People who use third party programs to farm gold while afk too.

I hope they reenable fellowships soon...  I guess fixing memory leaks and such is important, although I havent felt anything like a memory leak on either of my computers and neither have my friends...  Weve been dying for fellowships though...

I crashed a lot in beta, exspecially in dungeons. I did'nt buy the game, not what I am looking for in an mmog.

Bugs and performance are a very important issues right now, it's the one major complaint that could really impact the games sales. As soon as they are worked out, then yeah all the other nice features will take priority.

I will help test a beta, but I will not pay for it.  Hope someone in charge can understand this.

Welcome to the world of SOE, this is quite normal when the development team runs out of money and SOE doesn't want to spend anymore and wants something for their trouble.

I play on my Dell XPS sometimes. The good news, with my system, I normally run on Balanced. Bad news, whatever they're doing over on their end over the past two weeks has made me play on the lowest graphical settings.

I corrected your mistakes, the game was released on Sigil's schedule in the state it's in, not SoE.

The lack of having official forums, and not really knowing what is going on over on the development end is frustrating. To get this bland piece of news is even more frustrating. There are so many thing wrong with this game (I am reporting 3-5 bugs per day of play) that it is anti-climactic to only see a couple of things being fixed with the next patch. Yes, I understand, give Sigil time, but with people quitting this game in droves, they need to be doing way more about communicating with their player-base.

What about all the various chunking issues? What about disappearing mobs? What about mobs walking into mountains and rocks, or getting stuck all over the place? What about broken quests? What about graphic/client optimization? Kudos for fixing the memory leaks, but who the hell cares about broken tooltips and gold farmers at this point in the game? Sigil needs to be focusing on the issues that are causing people to quit this game.

The fact that you can check out all of the toons online helps the players and SOE to recognize who is cheating to help get rid of gold farmers. I wish more games would have this same feature.

    Thats just my 2 cents.

that pretty much sums it up. gotta love SOE though, at least they cut to the chase lol. I am the same way I helped with the beta, but i wont pay for it in the current state its in. good reviews, and all, i've seen past the smoke and mirrors. But i must commend the Community for taking a proactive role in reporting farmers. Very good job, keep it up guys and gals, protect your game with every inch and breath you have. one of the few highlights I have seen from this game so far. Nothing makes me happier than hearing about gold farmers getting banned left and right.

well lets see a few more months down the line where this game is going as far as fixes, tweaks, and content additons.
