spamming and bad attitudes

Hey everyone this is driving me crazy and i would like to share this with everyone who plays guild wars. Im not here to piss all you off or get everyone to hate me or anything like that. Im here to tell everyone what i think of this.
I played this game since the beginning. its a really good game. I like every bit of it. Its not perfect but its on the right track to be. One reason its not perfect is bc of all the spamming in the game. ive played other mmo's b4 but no other game has this much spam. They have done alot of things to prevent spam in this game. They made a seperate trade chat. They made a new search thing so you can put it up on the search window so everyone in that area even in seperate districts can see. Now why do people still continue to spam and say the same thing 4 times in a row? It is rude and selfish. Also rarely anyone ever uses the trade chat. So why did they make it? Beats me. I dont understand why people dont use these things. It is made in the game only to help us not to hurt us. I even tell people this and they all tell me to shut up and have a huge arguement about it. So why dont people use it? I do not know this question. I can sit here all day and type my opinions on why they dont but i dont want to waste that much of my time.
Another reason this game isnt perfect is the attitudes some people have in the game. Some of them are just bad and i dont see why people play if they just get pissed off in the game all the time. Come on people its just a game lighten up. Other people think too highly of themselves and think they are the best. Congrats on what you accomplish but that doesnt mean everyone needs to spend that much time on this game like you. We do what we want in our spare time and you do what you want with your spare time.
Well thats it and i hope you guys think about what i said. All i want is that everyone respects one another and to get the most out of this game. Also please dont get pissed at me or take this as offensive or anything like that. I just merely expressed my opinion about what i think about this.

A long time ago, people did use the Trade chat. There was very minimal spam unless you left that Trade chat on. People quickly learned to turn off the Trade chat since they're not buying/selling 24/7. The traders came to the conclusion that because people were turning off the trade chat no one could see what they were selling. This is about when people started spamming the All chat instead. I think that was about a month in.
And, a lot of times it's the same people that *refuse* to use the Trade chat for trade that are the horribly rude ones.
Now they have added the party search feature and people just don't use it. Oh, for about a week they did, and there was some pretty nice trading going on there as well. After a week, no one touches the thing. I still saw people spamming the all chat looking for a group and complaining that no one uses the party search.
Honestly, if you yourself are not willing to use the tools that are given to you, then you have no right to complain about no one using them.
[EDIT] Sorry, this is just a general rant. I really really REALLY hate those damned trade spammer ass hats.

mmm , this thread gave me a idea
what if anet made another channel for chating ?
my first idea was to change the place where trace and local chat are , but that would not work becose people already spam both channels for trades.
so make the RP channel , that would make the RP people happy , and for the rest that dont RP it could be the zone for chat , not for LFG not for recruting , just chating
becose it would be a new thing and people dont get used to new things fast , i think this could work

if people star spamming in thr RP channel , that means there is no hope for humans , lol

Spammers will go wherever they think most people are reading. If people are using an "RP chat", they'll take that down the toilet as well.
The devs at CoX dealt with spammers by putting a limit on the number of times you could type the same thing in a given amouunt of time. If you broke the rule, you got a two-minute "timeout" which prevented you from posting anything, along with a warning why your chat privileges were being suspended.
I'd like to see something similar added in GW.

While I truely understand what you are saying about the trade spam, it is something that is possible to avoid (to a certain extent). Remember, this is all relative in the fact that we all understand that there are going to be spammers where ever you go. You do understand that it certain areas (LA for example) the first 1-5 zones are for trade...that is a given. Is it particulary right in my eyes know, but I understand what I am getting into if I go into those. If I am LFG then I go to the last zone available and just work my way back to where there is good activity and the least amount of trade spam as possible.
Is it too much like a trade house, which we all know Anet's feelings about, to make a city/hub/outpost for just trading. Maybe something like the Battle Isles, but instead call it Trader Isles. You could have different islands for different catagories of trade; greens and collectibles on one, rune-inscriptions-dyes on another, materials, so on.
As for the "rude" people you see/hear....welcome to the real world. If interacted with the same amount of people in real life that you do in this game, you are going to come across a similar cross section. Just ask yourself when you start getting upset with a person, is this going to matter in 30 secs or a minute. The person who pissed you off so bad already forgot about you because they are doing nothing diffeent from their usual, but you are there pouting and fuming about it. Let it go...there is a good chance you will never run across them again.

i just ignore it and never sell anything to anyone unless its someone in my faction. but just ignorin it will never solve the problem. we have to do something about it. take the world wars for example. people were killin each other in europe and we did nothin. then we got involved and stopped it. we cant just wait until the problem gets too huge. we had terrorists attacks b4 but until 9/11 we did nothin. this is why we attacked iraq so we can prevent them from usin weapons of mass destruction and cause more harm to their people. now i know this is just a game and its not a big deal as these issues but we need to learn from these people who went and did somthin about it. nothing wil change until we try to change it. we cant let this go and wait till it affects us. now the developers are tryin to stop this by addin search engine to it now lets use it. use the trade chat also. lets put an end to this spammin nonsense.
We get more petrol from Mexico. Why would we want theirs?

Here's a trick: ever ask a local chat spammer to stop spamming the local chat? Usually they freak out, no matter how nicely you ask them. They almost always fall back on the argument of "But no one has the trade chat on, so no one sees that I'm selling my items". Which has about the same logic as the people that send spam to your e-mail. It's advertising to everyone, without trying to target your ads to those that are interested. Instead you spam people that are not interested, which upsets them. They in turn may choose not to have anything to do with you even if they *do* decide to make a purchase because they don't want to fund someone that's annoying. This obviously doesn't apply to the first districts of the major cities since this has become a silently agreed upon trading ground (and has become so bad that it likely will never be reversed).

I guess i got caught up in complainin b4 that i forgot to tell everyone my solution to all this. sorry about this but here is what i think they could do to end this.
Spamming: 1,each repeat of the same exact words will get you less time to type somthin. like if you type 2 lines in a row that are the same will get you 5 minutes of not bein able to say anything in that channel. 3 will get you 10 and so forth. this only works in outposts for i know you got to call targets and stuff for battles. and the time continues if you go to a different dist and outpost. Also any wts or wtb has to go into the trade channel or search in order to say it. This is one solution i thought up.
2, Another solution is to make an auction person that handles all the trading in all outposts. Like in wow and other games you could put up your item in the auction, set the amount of time that is stays up there until it sells, set the minimum price or a buy now price. it could be sorta like a gw ebay or somthin. and you can search what kind of item you specifically want and it will post all of that item that is bein sold by everyone. i think that this idea would greatly reduce the amount of spam and it is less strict than my first idea.
Attitudes: now i know some people just like to talk trash and be a dick on games like this and you cant really do much about it. but they could make a report button or somthin like other games have. and if you get reported enough time you could get suspended for a few days. i dont like to ban people from games since you paid for it and thats not fair but suspending someone a few days could get them to think twice b4 bein a dickhead. of course they have to take freedom of speech into consideration. so i am not sure how to do that. but hey at least im thinkin.
well those are my solutions and i hope you like them and tell the gw developers about it. maybe if enough people say somthin that they might do it. if anyone thinks of a better solution please share.

As for the people with bad attitudes...why complain about this? Ignore them, set yourself to do not disturb, dont play with them. Theres a million ways to avoid people who annoy you. I dont even get why you care about how other people are acting in an online game.
As for the braggarts, simply say "wanna cookie?" whevever they go on about how amazing they are to communicate that you dont care and move on.
None of these are even reasons to call a game imperfect. Its called the internet , a place in which anyone can say what they want with few consequences. You have only yourself to blame if you let other people's circumstances that are out of your control bother you.
if you ignore it it wont go away. and ignorin it for too long might make the problem bigger. sure you think its no big deal but wait till you want to sell somthin. what are you gonna do then? you probably will get pissed off at all the spam that you might spam to. then other people will spam and good luck readin any of it. sure you can go to a dist with fewer people but good luck gettin one of them to buy somthin. see my point? if you dont believe me go back in time and see what happens when we just ignore our problems. they got bigger and bigger till we finally gave in. heres and example. there is this dog that is able to run freely around the neighborhood. and he always goes around my house and pisses my dog off. we just let it go for awhile till one day my mom got so pissed off she went over to the owner and just screamed at him. now the dog is in the back yard. if you want a problem to go away deal with it now. that is what im tryin to tell everyone. if you dont want to then dont but realize that it wont go away.
anyone have any more ideas or comments? im open for discussion. you can challenge my idea i dont mind. i think that this is the perfect way to end spammers. if you want to say somthin go ahead i dont mind.
