Its no mmorpg its simple hack and slash.
Meet up with group go in lvl and then in uninspiring lvl design,almost no rpg elements no depth with world lack any atmosphere.
Ripoff from Phantasy star online dungeon siege only not as good as those 2.
Now i understand why you dont pay monthly fee its no MMORPG and to boring to play long.
For 30min its fun.

I dont care if im ban for this becouse then mmorpg.com would be a very bad site if you can not give critics about games GW is not mmorpg period and its boring ive played it in those 4 days.

Well it fits the criteria of a mmorpg so it is a mmorpg.
Whether its a boring or good mmorpg is a matter of opinon.
If i was to judge if a mmorpg is a mmorpg based on how good it is 90% of the games listed would be off the list
On one hand, I agree. GW is not an MMORPG in its purest state. It is a console game in Diablo fashion for multiple people.
On the second hand I must say... MMORPG.com have worse examples than GW so... It is unfair to single it out.

Please don't try and compare GW to a console game. Even the Xbox is a pathetic vampire of a PC who is so low grade that you would get around 10-15 FPS on a game like Guild Wars. My old rig, which was 6 years old can outperform the Xbox. My 3 year one (Current one) outperforms all consoles out there.
Now this may not be a true MMORPG, but it sure in hell is a Hybrid. You see, during the E3 alpha we only got to see a small percent of the game and in 60% of cases you are in a MMORPG area.
Massively (Groups of people in the same area for example)
Multiplayer (What else is Guild Wars?! In over 80% of the case you are with other people)
Online (Well it's obviously online)
Role-Playing (Ofcourse, but don't forget that 70% of people don't bother role-playing anyway)
Game (........No comment)
What disturbs me the most is that someone earlier tried to compare this to Dungeon Siege and Diablo II.
I have played Diablo II for 4 years and it's expansion as soon as it came out, and I see NOTHING like Diablo II gameplay. You see guys, Battle.Net is not Diablo II. Battle.net is supplied for multiple Blizzard games not just Diablo II. So if you feel the online server/mission/blah blah are like Diablo II's Battle.net service, then say it is like Battle.net.
I've always been a bit of a troll on forums but I'm taking a break from that for now, but I really have no idea what you guys are thinking. Guild Wars is a Hybrid MMORPG mixed with Action RPG elements. Just because something isn't like Evercrack or whatever, doesn't mean you can not call it a MMORPG. Sometimes I wonder if you people have just crawled out your mothers womb and started learning about gaming.
Also when you said it was like a console game. Let me be sarcastic and be like you were.
Hardcore console gamers are a kind of low-grade gamer and I say this because consoles are *limited*. Just like I said about the Xbox, it is nothing new. Xbox Live? Who cares. Xbox can't handle shit for smooth gaming. So if Guild Wars is a console type game, then everyone who plays it is considered Low-Grade gamers. So that means that I must be a low-grade gamer and a console fan (LOL) because I enjoy Guild Wars exceptionally.
Let me put this to you. Guild Wars E3 demo offered a very small amount of PVP compared to what they are doing for the full thing. There was 3 Missions, 8 maps. Everyone started at 15 so everyone was equal on the level area, yet ask yourself how do you think the system will be played with started from lvl 1?
The point of this game is not just for monster killing but also for PVP and Guild Wars. Don't give me that DAOC stuff because all that is, is a damn level grind and takes alot of time out of a persons life to get to a decent amount of strength (In PVP).
Guild Wars is there so that even the standard gamers can get a chance to join in the fun. Can you really see anyone playing Everquest 2 hours a day getting far in a month? Give me a break.
You people make me laugh because when a new hybrid comes out you all bitch because you're not used to it. Well GET USED TO IT because the world is evolving every day.
The point of my post is-
MMORPG is a true STATEMENT for Guild Wars. You may now crawl back in your mothers womb and stop comparing a hybrid to an pure Hack and Slash Action RPG or a MMORPG. It is both of them now please shut the hell up. This was not directed at anyone specific just those of you who are trying to pick one area that Guild Wars comes under. Jeez, will you guys ever learn that sometimes things just happen to be in the middle and *balanced* equally. Sometimes you can't have one or the other, you just have to have a bit of both.
The reason why you guys are making this mistake is that you are so one-minded that you refuse to open your mind up to another possability.

There were >= 5 missions (I never made it past 5 even after 20+ tries with an all out good group, which really tells you how challenging this game will be

But, in any case, guildwars is on MMORPG.com, because they stretched out their "red right hand" to MMORPG (NCSOFT did, I'm sure)
Even if NCSOFT made a gay porn simulator with levels, it would be posted by MMORPG.com, because NCSOFT is that good a publisher.

There were 3.
Fort Defense/Offense
Arena
Tombs of Drascir (Or whatever)
There were 5 PvM missions and the 5th one is pretty hard, but beatable.
There was approx around 30 maps in the preview and a total of 9 missions. For an E3 *experiment* that is quite alot. Also don't forget that not every by the end of the 4 days had Tier 3 everything. Alot of people had to learn about the game how the salvage/crafting system works and by the 3rd day alot of new stuff was figured out. If this is anyway to take a guess at a game that still has 5 months until release, then I am SURE that the finished product will be huge.
If you can tell me of any other games at E3 who had over 500 people playing it at the same time, then I'll congratulate you. Don't forget that this isn't even in Alpha fully yet, let alone beta.
Name a game that was in Alpha stage that was more polished then this..I encountered 4 bugs in 4 days and that's a small amount compared to EQ on it's first 1 day of full retail. So people, stop bitching about a game that still has half a year to go yet.
And Paradyme, XboX can't even handle Halo at smooth frames, let alone Halo 2. I doubt it could support even 10 FPS of Guild War chars (hundreds) on the screen at one time without slowing the hell down to unplayable speeds.
Xbox and rot in hell because it is obsolete in the online gaming area. Also no one give me that bullcrap about that Xbox has this and that on it, the thing is just a PC console and is limited to what it can do.
Guild Wars will be one big hit on the PC. The hybrid gameplay will adapt to people and they'll learn to love it. Once people step away from the *MMORPG has to be this* age we can move on to some new gameplay. And no, Guild Wars HAS not been done before. It is new and innovative.
Oh and Xbox has nothing to do with this. Every game I have seen on the Xbox has been below 40 frames per second, and in any type of combat nearly all of them drop below 20. Quite pathetic when my 1999 rig can probably do these ugly games at around 80. RIp Xbox
And sorry to all the console or Xbox fans out there. Just IMO really. When the PC gaming age came, console gaming became a more primative game system. And they still design these sons of bitches? Shocking...

I fell in love with GuildWars from the moment i got in-game.
Yes ,it resembles Diablo really much , but that's even cool
The fights in a lot of MMORPGs(for example - The Saga Of Ryzom) are really slow and boring, while in GuildWars..well they're one of the best thing in the game! 
They're action-packed, fast , and fierce!!! And all the armors - OMG , they're amazingly beautiful! 
The GFX engine is both beautiful and very light!!! 
The game is really addicting!!! For the 4 days of the demo , tens of thousands of people joined the world of GuildWars!!
And dont forget - This was just an ALPHA!!! A LOT of the stuff has not yet been implimented!!
Think what you want, but GuildWars deserves a prime spot in MMORPG. If you ask me - GuildWars and World Of Warcraft are going to be one of the best MMORPGs ever!
Did you see the WOW videos at e3 this year? Combat looks like DAoC and graphics are outdated. Yes the game has good "art" behind it, but some bump mapping and real time shadows never hurt anyone!!!. I was really hyped for WoW. I still think it will be a good game but won't be the best of the best. This game isn't gonna change mmorpgs forever or anything like everyones been saying. if it didn't have blizzards name behind it wouldn't be nearly as hyped.
Guild wars on the other hand is amazing, fun combat, great graphics, cool world and fun pvp. No monthly fee at all! and everything you do is stored on their server so the game will be as cheat free as any other mmorpg. The one thing I hate about most mmorpgs that guild wars has gotten around is camping for exp. you never hunt in the same spot twice in guild wars always moving and unlocking new areas.
Lastly Guild Wars is Massive its Multiplayer its Online and its a RolePlaying game. yay for guild wars

"gw" should be "GW" and should have a period on the end. It is so funny reading posts from people who insult other peoples spelling, but make mistakes in their own grammar (Which in your case is even more laughable).
If you're not native to the English language then it's even worser. I happen to be German and have learned English a while ago through actually learning while gaming, so I make mistakes alot.
I will never, however, insult someones spelling mistakes if I make grammatical mistakes myself. If you are native English speaker then you should really look at how laughable your post was.

1.Guildwars massive to log in yes you come in area that looks same as game area but nothing more not massive when you go play small fellows:( in game area.
2.Guildwars multiplayer yes
3.Guildwars online yes
4.Guildwars role-playing very little almost not wel compare to most real mmorpg almost nothing.

1.point i see mmorpg as time consuming emmersive ropleplaying xping questing big world with lots of peeps in game area around Guildwars is not.
2.point multiplayer yes but most games online are multi player.

When i came in the game area it did absolutely not had feeling of great atmosphere that real mmorpg,s have.
But for 1 hour play its fun everyday i gues.
If you love guildwars thats great and i understand that for those its great.

GW is an MMORPG... it was a demo, not even beta.. you cant go on that, there werent many people cause it wasnt even beta... not many people are gonna demo it for 3 days, and even less at E3 are playing...
point by point, it is a MMORPG, face it... not tradional but by god men, why is everyone ranting on if it is or not? can you not spend you time better? now that is said... i will exit thank you
