Is it worth it now?

I played the trial when it came out and i sorta liked it as much as possible during the first grinding levels, but there was no one there to play with. So my question would be if i bought the game now and wanted to play with some random person my level would it take like 10 min to find a party or group or 3 hrs and then 30 min of fighting then quitting like on Final fantasy 11.

I am in a guild so I do not generally do pickup groups, so I can't say for sure. However, I see lots of people in each area doing the quests -- so many so that many of the quests end up camped. So I don't think you will have trouble finding people to team up with, if that was your only concern.

No the game is really not worth playing nor paying 50$ for. The beta was really crappy and the graphics sucked. And I have a high spec system and the graphics still looked like crap, Sorta as a Unreal engine. The lag was a serious issue and the download for the game was just not even right. I'm on the fastest cable connection and it took me 36 HOURS to download the trial, That is NOT service if you ask me.

k thanx. also another question im playing or finishing up playing final fantasy 11 and i was a red mage i was wondering wat class in vanguard would be closest to a rdm. for those who dont know what im talking about its like a generalist it can do any role or job to a point.

Shaman following the bear patron might be to your taste, can heal, can tank some or pet can do it for them, can nuke and dot, has good buffs and many of the very useful utility buffs like levitate and runspeed, it's probably the closest to a jack of all trades.

There aren't any uber classes though, even if some fine tuning of balance is going on atm - you won't find any 1 class that excells at everything, and with good reason.

No, it's not worth it.  Stay away from Vanguard.

PUG might sucks.  I mostly group with guildies so yeah... when you are playing with people you aren't used too, it gets hairy fast sometimes.

I'm playing on Varking (really enjoyin PVP in VG and we got a really cool fight in CiS tonight).  You get LFG shouts all the time so there is people to play with for sure.

Bugs?  Yeah, there's bugs.  Most of em can be fixed by login out and back in.  The worst one IMO is the group one.  But you usually, like i mentionned, log out and back in and it's usually fixed.

If you don't mind minor glitches and unfinished content, fire away. :)

Personally, I love the game.  I've spent a lot of time with it and I don't bitch or moan about the glitches that I run over.  I used to play the game on the lowest settings, but now that I upgraded my processor, I can easily run it on high settings.  Chunk times are almost gone and being in the city has minor FPS effect.

The game continues to evolve, and if you're not feeling it right now, come back later and check it out.  Without a doubt, this game shows great potential.

As far as grouping goes... Pick up groups are what they are.  A collection of people who haven't really faught together and depending on the leader, could be put together in a crappy fashion.  That said, if your motivated, start a group.  Groups that I form do really well.  Even groups that I join up with, do well.  Though, it's hard to get away from a random cruddy pick up group.

The game is unfinished, nothing that isn't known, but there is a LOT to still do.  My play time easily proves that... ;p

    I think so.

Vanguard has cleaned up alot the past few weeks both with content and performance tweaks.

I'm playing it and having a blast !

Well, I was reluctant to enter this discussion, but I was supposed to have a meeting which was canceled until tomorrow, so I have plenty of free time at the moment.

All I can see is quite simply I leveled to 27 and felt stuck.  I have serious performance issues, despite having spent over 2k and bought 8800 GTX video card.  Further, the world does not feel alive to ME.  Bugs are prevalent but have been fixed, and you have an aggressive and talented team trying to improve the game.

In my experience and in my opinion, the game will or should become stable in a year.  Nevertheless, if you are attracted to the game, give it a try. I gave it a try and quit.  I might return in six months to a year, but it is doubtful.

    Hay creion

I did pritty much what your doing now i played the free trial i got with the game and well wasnt impressed graphics sucks

Performace sucked everything was bland and not alot new really.

    Anyways so i quit

then i hear there some updates and the game had improved so i went back to try it out as a good friend of mine she got a buddy key of a friend online so we thought ok lets try it out maybe it will be more fun together.

So this time several weeks after i quit the trial heard about updates .

logg in meet up with my friend we played for two days and uninstalled nuthing has changed everything is the same

characters still look and move like lifeless rubber doll's

still major performace issues just lagg if more than two people come across you

basicly what im saying is save your self some money and dont touch this game with a barge pole i gave it a second chance and thats it , i aint touching this again.

so anyway goodluck and dont waste your money.

You know what, that is what a buddy told me; he mentioned that once Dx10 or something is supported that performance should be improved considerably and maybe even enhanced.

Have you heard anything about that?

Edit: Question before I forget, do you need VISTA to run Dx10?

    Thank you!
  • Arkane11Arkane11 Member Posts: 55
I think you DO need vista to get dx10. Age of Conan worked closely with MS so that if people wanted to play it with the best possible graphics and performance, they would need to purchase vista for it.

Thank you! Vista is necessary for DX10, yes.

    Thanks a lot. =D

Now, I wonder if I should use my upgrade to Vista Business coupon or wait until the bugs are fixed LOL.

Only a handful of people posting in this thread cared to answer the OP's question.  Go bitch about VG somewhere else. The OP said he liked the game from what he saw. He wanted to know if it was easy or hard to get into groups.

To the OP... Getting into groups should be pretty easy anytime, any level. The newly installed teleport system makes it easy to travel. Of course there are many great guilds to check out, and then grouping is really easy. I dont even play on the most populated servers, and there are people everywhere i go... well almost... still plenty of out of the way spots to explore.

Yukkione  has lost touch with reality - think of it as digital beer goggles Bugs are there an in plenty - people still login dead, levels and exp are still lost/rolled back. Some quests still cannot be completed. Getting in groups will take you anywhere from 2 minutes to 12 hours simply depends on if your class is one of key 4 or mere hybrid.

FUNCOM - putting the FUN in disFUNctional !

I used to play a Red Mage in FFXI as well, and chose a dread knight.  As a DK you are the main defuffer and a tank with decent offensive output,  The other nice thing is tanks are constantly needed so getting a group is really easy.  To me the DK is a nice mix of magic and weapon use, hope that helps.

Most of the classes in Vanguard are hybrids. All the healers have offensive spells as well. Shamans and Clerics are really good considering you get damage spells, heal spells, decent armor, and melee.

I find it funny that am retired and play vanguard 10 plus hours just about everyday sence it released , yet i havent seen one bug you listed nor have i seen 95% of the bugs that other people list on this site Yes theres bugs but very minor ones that dont affect my game play anyways but to be fair i have heard about 2 people in game say that they lost some xp so if it does happen its not happening much .

you might want to check the posting history of the people bashing vanguard alot of them have been doing it sence the day NDA was lifted on beta and dont even play the game
