I know it runs through tonight and I can't wait to see how Turbine brings it all down at the end of the night, but as of Monday afternoon, what level did you end up?

Me? 16. Man Burgler. Loved every second of it.

Got Loremaster to 38 twice on my own and at one point they gave us a level 30 character, mine was a burglar and I got him to 34. Too many whipes for me to reach level cap and give end game a good review but I have a great time on both of my 38's.

I am pretty confident every style of gamer can find a reason to enjoy the game. I consider myself a hardcore gamer and by defenition we find anything in any game you put in front of us, but in this game I never actually had to go look for something, it was always right in front of me whether it was crafting or killing. It never seemed like a grind.

Got to 48 as a champ, Im having more fun back on eq2 now though.  The game is very bland even with a good kinship.

I enjoyed EQII from beta until I got in the LoTRO beta, good game but I needed a change of pace and LoTRO seems better for the RP aspect, for me at least.  A whole lot better price too, I was using the Station Pass for EQII bonus's and an occasional foray into SWG but after that last price increase forget that.

So the question I have is, if I was in closed beta, but didn't buy the preorder, will I have access to this "high-res" client or will I actually have to fork over cash to see anything good?

and the answer is no you don't have to fork over any cash. The low res textures still look awfully darn good and the game play is what you are checking out anyway right? If you don't care for the game play then being able to count the links in the chain mail probably will not help. If you like the game play but are still sitting on the fence becasue you really would like to count the links then drop a 5 spot at your local EB Games or a ten at the Best Buy.

Well see the problem is when I played the game before, the low res textures, imo, looked like complete garbage. I'm not too sure about the gameplay, but I'm someone for whom the graphics can enhance the experience almost equally as much as the gameplay. I've pretty much made up my mind about the game, but I'd like to give it a fair shot since the main reason I stopped during the beta was because I couldn't get passed the horrid graphics.

However, I don't want to spend money on a game to buy the preorder if I don't know whether I'll be buying it. If they're not going to give me the high-res client before I give them my hard-earned cash, then I have no choice but to judge the game on what I was given. Unless there's some sort of trial, or they release the high-res client for open beta (which I'm hoping they'd do) then I really can't change my opinion about the game (which I'd like to be able to do, believe it or not).

Or...you gould go to Gamestop, put down $5 to get the pre-order DvD with the high res, try it and if it still doesn't turn your wheels transfer the $5 you put down to some other game? I mean, it's not rocket science and gamestop is really flexible like that. *shrug*

Highest was 39 Hunter..so close to 40 when they wiped agh.

Looking forward to just relaxing and playing my characters who will be:

    Hunter/Elven/Explorer

    Loremaster/Elven/Historian

    Minstrel/Human/Armsman

    Burglar/Hobbit/Tinker

    Champion/Human/Armorsmith

I'm going to take the time to do every quest, fill all pages of my Lorebook, master every craft (yes it will take characters on two servers to do that), fill in the entire map of Middle Earth.  Learn music and hang out in the Prancing Pony and Green Dragon with my Minstrel. Try Monster Play.

    I got lvl 16 Burglar

But i decided to stop playing.

The game is thin on content. And Burglar is only class that interests me....

So i will not touch the game again until the release....

Playing the same char twice will bore me to death

True, but you were also only lvl 16.  And at 16, you prolly only got to the forsaken inn.  Thats like what?  1/4 of the world?  Just wait till release to really play, thats why Im NOT going to make another champ.  Want a new challenge... .... .... loremasters lol .... .... ...

That would be a great idea except for the fact that there are no gamestop's in Canada to my knowledge.

I honestly don't see why Turbine is only giving people the low res client. I would think they would want people to see the full range of what the game can really do. Instead anyone who isn't willing to give them money has only the low res client to judge the game on, and that looks like garbage.
