I have player most mmorpg's and I can say that Vanguard is the best out there at the moment. Better than WOW? U bet. Most people complain about the grind. All mmorpg's have grind.
Anyway.. I love it.. so will you..
Oh yeah, its definitely best because u say so. All we really needed in our lives is an online messiah to tell us what to love or hate.
*sigh* kids got too much free time these days. Go join boy scouts, a soccer club or wrestle a mountain lion - anything will make time better spent then trolling or flaming.
I wish I could see you watching tv.

"Jesus Christ! whats that mother spewing out of her mouth now! now just because her kids like it, I'm going to like it to? What a load of sh*t."This reminds me another "stupid" add... "John Romero's About To Make You His Bitch,"" in big fat letters on a poster... Thats a good way to NOT get any customers.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.
I can't say how good it is since.. I just bought the game and haven't installed it yet. Review coming in a couple weeks ^^.
"and I can Say Vanguard is the best out there at the moment": get ready to be bullied by SOE haters and many more ^^.
As far as WoW comparison... not saying its bad, far from that, but lets avoid comparing Vanguard to it.. just not the same thing.
Blizzard is, how I see it, an INCREDIBLE game company.. I remember asking myself: "when on earth are they going to release Starcraft"... It's only months after its release, that I understood what a great balancing, and perfecting work they did on it. And yes, I'm sure WoW got the same treatment.
STILL!! Like strategy freaks wouldn't stay aggroed to Starcraft, I'm about sure lots of mmorpg players want a different mmo experience than what WoW offers. In that domain, currently, Vanguard has the best positioning (I think - not saying I'm right). So yes, WoW is an incredible achievement... should Vanguard be compared to it? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not the same stuff!!
So:
1) you looking for a WoW clone: I'm sorry there isn't a clone good enough: return to WoW and have fun!!!!!
2) you hate SOE? There is a sticky up there for SOE haters... spill all the venom you have over there... Vanguard forums were not made to propagate your hatred!!! (btw I have a nude screenshot of Yoda if thats your stuff)
First of all, I decided to roll a Vulmane Shaman. I am currently level 9.
Secondly, My first complaint is concerning Crafting: Point, click, point, click...repeat for 2 minutes. Now this in itself is not my complain, for every game is Point, Click in some aspect. So, where were we? Oh ya, point-n-click for 2 minutes, now some work orders I have experienced thusfar require the crafter to create the item x 5, so we now have point-n-click for 2 minutes x 5 = 10 minutes, roughly of point-n-click, give or take 1.5 minutes ( depending on if you are a pro-point-n-clicker or you need to stretch after a few minutes ). So this seems to be very, very repetitive and quite boring. Now, what good is a complaint without a suggestion? I dunno, so here is one: As your skill increases in whichever particular crafting ability you have chosen, I suggest the character being able to make multiple pieces at a time. So that atfirst you can craft 2 pieces, then 3, and so on and so forth as skill increases throughout the game.
Third, I encounter this when logging out: As I decide to exit Vanguard SOH, the game exits yet the sound ( music, ambience ) is still engaged and playing. After roughly 5 minutes of waiting for the game to completely exit into Vista, I have to engage my Task Manager in order to end the process of VSOH. As I mentioned, happens every time that I exit the game.
Finally, the 3rd major problem I have encountered is: after a fight that I have won, when trying to use my "Treat" ( berries ) to regain my composure, it says " I cannot use Treat because I am in combat". Okay,so maybe I still am, but then have waited up to 5 minutes after the fact, and still have gotten the same message, having to log out and back in to fix this problem. Also, I get this same type of message when, I somehow aggro 3 other baddies about 20 yards apart from my initial target and decide to run away, the mob chases me for 2 minutes or so down the mountain or through the grass, and after they are no longer apart of my target view, I cannot use "Treat" for upwards of a few minutes until I decide to log out and back in. I have, however, rectified this situation once before, after similiar encounter I decide to attack an animal and skin it, it was only after I received my skinning loot that I exited combat and was able to use "Treat".
So, there you have it, a few of the bigger issues I have encountered mid-week. A teaser for the freaks like me. Of course, I have many other in-game issues to discuss, but I am waiting until this coming Monday to disclose my entire review of Vanguard SOH.

Vanguard suffered greatly by missing its schedules. As it happened, it came out about when WoW's expansion went live and LotRO's NDA was lifted.
By contrast, both games emphasized Vanguard's problems with the game engine, and general lack of polish. Against those comparisons, it is very difficult for many to consider VG the best of this or any other bunch.
Wow, I just got Vanguard about 2 weeks ago and I have played nothing like it. Sometimes i get caught up just looking at all the scenery, its SO realistic and i LOVE it that they went down that road. The place is huge, real, challenging, rewarding. The quests are fun to do, some very fun ones out there, I feel so small compared some of the mountians and i have never felt this before in any game i have played. For people who have played it you know what I mean , anyways it does have it bugs and glitches but from what they have so far i think they are going in the RIGHT direction. This game is going to be epic in about a year or two when they balance everything and it all flows together. =D

Oh yeah, I forgot there are games where you absolutely never have to do anything to reach max level.....oh wait no there aren't! Every game is a grind. You grind mobs, quests, tradeskills, rep, and just about everything else. Stop telling yourself you don't or just stop playing mmo's.......

All have a grind, sure, but don't attach that negative connotation of tedium to every MMOs grind.
Some grinds are obviously more fun to most players in the market as exampled by World of Warcraft. Some grinds are obviously more tedious as exampled by Vanguard and it's ongoing 180-degree change of stance on experience, travel and death penalty issues.
It's as simple as that, the excuse 'all MMOs have a grind' is silly. When you decide to make an MMO, you're deciding to make a timesink. The whole point thereafter is to mitigate the tedium of doing the same thing over and over as much as possible and even make it fun.
Vanguard failed a lot of people, so don't attempt and call those people illogical just because "all MMOs are a grind."

maybe you should stop playing eq-clones then.
there is a difference in playing a game, and mindlessly grinding. if all the games you've played have a mindless, boring grind, then um, i guess GBTW FTW~!!

Thats why a solid PVP ( read RVR) is a must for me... so at the end of my day of repetitive instancing i can take my frustrations out on other depressed angry subs. Daoc is a perfect example, even though they completely neglected pve, and eventually just put instances with huge xp bonuses in to just speed up leveling, the end game was soo worth it because of the ongoing pvp system.
