PvP - A hot ticket?

 What's so great about PvPing? People talk of it a lot. And I'm something of an MMORPG noob. Thus, my inquiry into.. this shit.



Yeah.



So, should I want to do this? I won't have any idea of what to do, but still.. talk about why you like it. Or don't.



I don't even have a set game I want to play right now. I tried Scions of Fate, realized it's excruciating.. then heard about this whole "korean grindfest" thing and it all made sense. I also tried Rappelz but my videocard can't exactly handle the pain. Nor with Flyff. And Silkroad Online. Plus it's too laggy.



Soo.. yes.. I'm desperate.. desperate for a game to call home.. or something. If only I had money/credit card or something, I'd take the plunge with WoW, and join the ranks of the dirty underweared ones.. mhmhm.



So, what the hell am I going on about? Oh yeah - PvP.. I need a game.. where PvP is nice.. or I'd imagine I'd get lonely grinding away for god knows what achievement..



Maybe I should go back to counter-strike.

    Looks like you're in a squeeze.  I recommend Shadowbane.  It is highly PvP oriented, and free.  It came out in 2003, so it's very unlikely that it would kill your graphics card, and if you choose the right server, it wont be hard to find other players.  For more info on servers and gameplay : http://www.shadow-grove.com.

    Right now there isnt really a good and new pvp game on the market. Every MMO is following the lead of WoW/Eq, just look at Vanguard. If you are into a more cat-and-mouse type of pvp then try EvE Online.



    Why is pvp great? Well after you have played 30 singleplayer fantasy games and 3-4 fantasy MMOs where all you had to do was slay spiders and orcs from dusk till dawn without variation you will start to want more - a challenge. Playing with friends against other groups is a lot more fun and challenging than grinding away at those scripted objects with variable skins.

    Playing against other people beats killing computer controlled rats everytime..

    Other than Shadowbane, there is no real PvP MMO. The reason why I say real PvP is that in Shadowbane you can kill anyone or be killed with no restrictions without your toon going red or all that side vs. side bullcrap. Shadowbane also looting, you can loot dead people. Shadowbane is not what it once was in player population, you wont see anymore 200 vs 200 castle siges like in the old days. I was one of the lucky people that got to play it in its prime. There is one free MMO that is about the best free one I have played called Space Coboy Online, although its side vs side it has a large player base and constant PvP.
