I did not include DDO in the list because, in many ways, although a presumption, it is included in "Other."

I have not tried DDO, and if it is true that it is forced-grouping all-the-time, I will likely never play.

    I appreciate the suggestion.

DaoC - looking for something new

Vanguard - buggy, poor performance, 1st generation gameplay problems (forced grouping in late 20s for "good" stuff)

WoW - going brain dead killing bores (in fear of WoW "end-game")

LotR - great concept (to state the obvious) but just not capturing me (in Open Beta now)

EQ 1 -did that for 8 years almost and all my old friends have moved on(besides, not fun unless you box and have multiple characters on different servers to see different raid content )

EQ 2 - Honestly, like the game a lot, but afraid to totally start over (somewhat waiting for next expansion before I buy)

I am waiting for WAR and somewhat Age of Conan.  I cannot believe that I am alone here.
Why not try AutoAssault?I mean the market sux anyway right? What have you got to lose?

    Everyone says that AA sux.

Well ive played most mmo's on the market.AO,UO,EvE,Wow,eq,EQ2 the list goes on and on.It is no worse than any mmo on the market currently. It has an auction house and it has email as well as "housing".

I have leveled up to 20 just by doing missions.I have not really had to grind out  xp for the most part.I have been crafting and it is a complex system of experimentation and reverse engineering.

It is easy to play for a casual player like myself but it can be for a hardcore player as well.

Come on down its a free 14 day trial with no CC info required.(BTW i have primarily been solo but group combat is a blast)

    What is your physical limit?

Hmph... Auto Assault.  Sounds very interesting.

I should confess that I have a penchant for the fantasy MMORPG.  However, I will definitely take a look.

I appreciate the suggestion.  I am looking for something to occupy my time with that is fun.  My preference is of course (and obviously) a fantasy MMORPG.  I like the community-aspect of MMORPG.

Speaking of community, I have an active sub in WoW, and I am not trying to generate controversy - but it is true! - WoW does have a sour and bitter community.  I do not know what I am going to do; I am at least having a great time in CC 3.

Just sat through and played sone Dungeon Keeper 2 and now I realize... games have gone far out lately. Especially the MMO market. It's harder to make revolutionary games online than offline that's for sure. But really, it was ages since I experienced something groundbreaking in a way it could be globalized or "taken to a whole new level".

    ROFL!

You are not going to believe this, but I was thinking about playing Dungeon Keeper again myself!! LOL.

I LOVED that game.  It might be me, hence the poll.  But the poll shows that people agree with me; there are not fun, innovative games that capture the attention and imagination.  It is a disappointment for many.

Same boat as most of ya'll, hoping AOC really makes combat fun and more than mashing buttons.

Mostly playing Planetside now for the MMO aspect with some action combat.  Really enjoying it again for some reason.  Messing around with eq2 when I need my fantasty fix 8)

I was bored too for a very long time... and then I gave EvE a honest go. Loved it! :) Great game if you know how to have fun in it.

Every time I read your post, I die a little inside...

Well, I think with the EQ edition being released April 23rd they might have a progression server with several modifications. I would definitely do that if it is a non zerg-guild server without the board that promotes it.

I've been playing WOW (for a couple years now I think) and sort of grinding along- having some fun - enjoying the expansion and not really thinking about trying anything else as I was fairly content.

Then, a friend of mine pointed me to VG which sort of peaked my interest.  Well, I tried it, and really tried to like it but ended up hating it.

But that whole thing got me looking at these type of boards and had me curious about what was to come.  So I started doing some reading on the different ones.  AoC looked most interesting to me at first.  Then I stumbled of the Chronicles of Spellborn.  That looks very refershing to me - fantasy yes - but completely new fantasy (no elves and orcs etc) with an pretty damn interesting story line .  The more I read about it the more I was like, 'Hey this is going to be awesome!'

My friend who stayed with VG tried LOTRO and said he hated it.  But I eneded up pre-ordering it anyway just to give it  a try.  I was blown away - completely amazed in fact - that caught me off guard and now I am considering dumpiong WOW for LotRO.

In short, there are some interesting things out there and if LOTRO isn't your cup of tea give The Chronicles of Spellborn a look see.

OP.. yes the MMORPG market is sucking.

It's so bad that the only games i am looking foward to are Mass Effect and Little Big Planet.

Ok so they are not MMOGS, but really, I play MOGS for the COOP if I want PVP I play FPS.

Yeah I haven't been subbed to an MMO for almost 2 months.

fact is nothing out there is that great right now. I am just catching up on all the games I have been missing, been playing alot of Medieval II : Total War.

Can't wait till AoC, WAR, and Fury though

I think you just need a break..... hardcore MMORPG playing may have jaded you..so chosing to play "another" game was a great idea....I do this every so often...helps me keep an even perspective.....

Fear not...many new games on the horizon...one of them is bound not to suck...

    Absolutely.

Great posts, and I appreciate the suggestions.

The anniversary edition of EQ 1 might have a new server, and if so I will definitely be playing EQ 1 again.  If anyone is interested in joining with us, please give me a private message.  I am really excited about this!
