=====================================================================

For the past several years I've been developing my MMORPG setup. It's gone through several major changes, and i've finally decided to start trying to get other people (other than my friends) into the game, for a number of reasons. Primarily, they've all played it since its inception, and wouldn't be able to offer helpful feedback on the initial usability aspect of the game which, I feel, may need some work.

For starters, here's a video I recorded (with absolutely TERRIBLE framerate. My screencap program seems to hate me.) of the game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0P93OVl_pQs

There are three classes for the game, and a number of different areas, NPCs, and weapons. As far as the storyline and everything is concerned, I have it all written down, but haven't really started bringing it into the game in full force. What I DO need, however, is suggestions/comments/criticism about the game world and that kind of thing. Please either post them here or on the forums there.

And just because I like to note this, EVERYthing in the game is created by me. The music was sequenced by me, the ingame meshes were built by me, and the entire game was coded by me. :D

Regardless, give it a shot and let me know what needs work.

Thanks.

-Phil

If you send me a PM with more details about the game, I would gladly test it for you. I am going to bed though and in the morning this thread would likely be buried by other threads.

    More info:

A short (admittedly not very descriptive) blurb about the game can be found on the front page of the site:
Project Winter is a free mmorpg (online RPG). You play as a member of one of three classes who, as most classes do, have their own way of going about things. The first class, Army, allows the player to use gunpowder weapons, and many hand-to-hand weapons. They’re allowed the widest range of body armors as well. Sci players are given more futuristic weapons, but aren’t allowed to use some of the heavier armor. Nano players’ blood is filled with tiny nanites which, once taught how, can be used to perform various magic-like abilities. The downside to the nano class is that they cannot use ranged weaponry and have their own types of armor.

Avoiding discussion on the storyline (as it hasn't been set in stone yet), you start in the main area of the class you select when you first log in. The game itself is a topdown 3D-ish MMORPG. Most of the game world at this point is forested areas populated by forest-type animals (wolves and a very poor sprite of a bear).

What probably should be explained, because it isn't very well explained within the game:
    - Move the mouse over things in the game world to see a short description of them.
    - 'Z' is the "interact with world" key.
    - Move the mouse to the top of the screen for character options.

Ingame screenshot (a bit dated), to get an idea for what the game looks like:

This might not be what you had in mind by asking for more about the game, but it's late and I can't think of what else to write about it. Let me know if there's anything in particular that I can elaborate on.

    And once again, thanks.

Looks real good! Hope everything turns out well with this game. I admire you for not spamming about the game a year ago before you even started programing it. Waiting till people can play it makes you a very good dev

I must say this game is far better than most of the personal projects I have seen in my time.  I like the interface design how the menu bar drops down from the top of the screen.  Perhaps you will stick to this project and we may see a more polished version of the game.  Gj Man. :)

Thank you. I've put quite a bit of work into it, and I'm glad that people like it.

I'm getting a good amount of people registering and playing the game, but not very much feedback in comparison. Please let me know about suggestions for the game.

I'm currently working on finishing up the mineshaft area and adding new NPCs there, as well as making a non-ugly model for the bears.

As I responded on the forums to a similar question: http://kitsunedev.com/forum_show_thread.php?id=82

What is your username on kitsunedev? There is a glitch with some of my old login handling methods that I'll investigate with your account.
For a more direct way of reaching me, I'm usually on AIM: xthephilx.

Sorry that you're having problems with the site/game, and I hope to remedy them as soon as possible.

Got a report that the forums were not working properly. It seemed to work fine for me, but if you guys could test the forums out (make a thread, post something, etc.) to make sure they work across different platforms, that would be great.

Please let me know what setup you have (OS, browser) and whether or not the forums work for you.

    Thanks.

For anyone who has gotten this far, I finally finished the layout of the mineshaft area.

For anyone who hasn't, it's connected to the southwest corner (buy a compass from Jeonju) of the forest.

The boulder visibility code is new, so if anyone notices any problems with it, let me know.

The basic ideas of this game are awesome, a playable race which uses nanites, another which is sort of phycic player type that uses advanced weapons and a brutal character class. This game might need some work but the basics are alright. I might talk to some of my friends that played it, see what they though. Though it has some good aspects it needs some work before I'll pick it up.

Still Cant wait for Stargate and star trek MMO's... Can't wait.

Are you referring to NPCs or actual other players? NPCs will be added as I finish adding atmosphere to the game. Other players...well, that just takes time for more people to join in the game.
