This week's "should I come back??" post

RekindleRekindle Member UncommonPosts: 1,206

Its been a few months since I stopped playing Eve.  i was pretty sure it was going to be the end of her last time  I quit. But here I am, a few months later bored with all the staple mmos.

Here's what I dont like about EvE:

1. Despite what many feel I think this game has a terrible community for the most part, with a couple decent people here and there.  This being an international game I find the viewpoints that some people have towards other groups is quite demeaning and berating (and yes, I see there is indeed irony in my comment).   Just like in any game there are good people hiding.  How do you rate this community?

I hate voice chat.  I'm old school and having a headset on in my home is not an option. - Is there a EvE for me without having to be attached to a voice chat?

Mining.  I have leet mining skills and I hate it.  Every #@$#@ time I pick up this game I start mining hard core and burn out after a bit.  I tried the production thing but 20 million units of trit is a lot of trit and thats a pain in the ass.

If you live in empire WTF do you do all day? 0.0 can be fun but alliance politics is both good and bad for the game.  Its a great concept but I dont want some half wit 3/4 the way across the world dictating what I do at night.  CCP needs to addres the number of players in npc corps.

I really went into this last time with the hope of playing a virtual trader kinda guy and amassing some isk and hopefully co-owning a decent pos some place to do some decent R&D / component selling. I'm not sure if t hat hope is still alive, if i should persue another career or if I should just leave this game alone.

I see the potential of EvE but I can attest personally to the failings of the game.

I 'm very much on the fence and I need swaying, either way, to put this to bed.

I quit for similar reasons some time ago. Came back, found a nice corp. Now I have someone to chat to while mining and not about EVE skills but other subjects. They have a Vent (or TS server) but I don't use it, since I like to listen to music while playing. So I stick to text.

Althought, mining is not so boring now, with the pirates in the area where I hang out. Is a .6 system. Pirates love to shoot my container or steal from it, then I love to shoot at them while they flee (or try to resist). I mine to produce ammo for those Corp members on this side of the universe, since HQ is 30 jumps away. It's easier for some to just swing through my place to restock ammo.

If you are willing to give it another try, send me a PM here or a convo in game. Moob Krad is the name.

Maybe you could be the first one to do a full and good documentation of all the COSMOS constellations/missions.

That is a selfless act with no reward. And not to mention, boring.

Wish I could read more info that has no bias.

Seems each thread here is full of either the "fanboy" or ticked off ex-customer of eve ("hateboy").

Is there someplace I can find some real information, that isn't biased? (I looked at the Eve-Online forums, seems very heavy on the censoring, and some threads I was pointed too, the managers were apparently ignoring and never answered questions).

My trial ran out, and while I had some fun, I have reservations on subscribing due to the reported problem of cheating by game managers.

Did any cheating happen? a simple yes or no (and I will check your post to see if you are biased and wouldn't give an honest answer).

Yes it happened. Did it affect me? no it didn't. How did I knew they cheated? I read the forums.

the great eve war is upon us, there is no better time to start playing again tbh :D

Also, not every corp requires voice chat, althoug it makes pvp ALOT easier for everyone so unless you have some physical reason for not using voice chat you should suck it up and get a mic.

The part about the community and a few decent players here and there makes me think youve never been in a corporation for more then a week.

Actually, you can't force people to use a mic. If they don't want to, they don't want to. Some people think it's no fun to talk, part of the challenge is typing it out. So you can't tell them to suck it up. If it's not your thing, too bad and just move on.

It's too expensive to play, requires too much time, and is not exciting enough. Period.

You are the type that likes FPS. Action type games?

Expensive? Most MMO's cost the same $15 bucks a month.

Trading, production, and amassing isk are great, however most people who do this have another character that they PvP on.  EvE isn't any fun if you aren't involved in PvP somehow (and yes you need voice coms).

You can PvP and produce with the same character, is just a matter on working on the skills. Voice is a plus indeed, but not required. Is fun even without PvP, it really depends on the person.
