He obviously liked it, mostly high scores...but with this and other reviews you can read of LOTRO its good to compare each of them to make your decision (whatever it may be)
Pretty accurate, though I'd quibble over giving the catagory of Races a 10. I see why he gave it such a score, but personally I wish that choosing the region your race originated from had more impact on your character (other than appearance). Using his catagory, I'd give it a 9 since I agree with most of his other points regarding race.

WoW, what a shock, you two agree with a high scoring review.
Fact of the matter is this. MeanKeen is yet another Turbine fanboi and VN Board mod nazi. Both him and Loktofeit did "reviews" of the game, after being allowed in to Turbine's headquarters, and both have less than professional relationships with the developers.
How can you possibly give credence to a "review" where they make up a category of races as a criteria to judge a game on, and then give that category a 10?
Just a couple of shills. They always have been, and always will be. To those of you who don't know it, the VN Boards were originally the official forums for Asheron's Call 1. It is thoroughly infested with Turbine viral marketers.
WoW got high reviews. I wonder how many high reviews McDonalds would get from a food critic, because LotRO follows the exact same business model. Lots of polish, but no substance or originality.
We'll see what kind of scores it gets when more "official" reviews are out but the average is 9.1/ 10 so far, not a bad start I'd say....
Of course if you are somehow arguing that the fact that WoW got high scores in the gaming press somehow proves that any game that gets high scores sucks (and therefore that McDonalds would get high scores from a serious food critic), then you are twice as much of an idiot. I seriously doubt that if you open up a Michelin Guide or Gault Millau guide that you are going to find McDonald's listed as a five star.....
Even if we go by the baffling relationship that you've concocted where a game that gets good ratings from porffessional critics must therefore suck ...that would mean that pretty much every game that is normally held up as an example of what other game developers should shoot for "sucks." Halflife, sucks. Warcraft sucks. Diablo sucks. Planescape Torment sucks. Baldur's gate I and II suck. The Elder Scrolls sucks. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic sucks. Zelda sucks. Grand Theft Auto sucks. Fallout sucks. I could do this all day....
If every single one of those games sucks, what the hell do you like? And did it get good reviews? Oh well I guess your wrong then it actually sucks.
An aside: I would not say that I personally like even half of all games that get good reviews. For example never got into any of the Tony Hawks. But I'm not such a narrow minded ass that I assume anything I don't happen to like sucks. I simply acknowledge that they are not in a genre that I enjoy. They are "good" games by most objective standards. If you are into the style off game that they represent, you'll probably like them. Me personally, I just don't like sports games. I'm sure some of the Tony Hawk's were about the best damn skateboard games you could imagine, at least based on sales and critical response. I just don't happen to like games about skateboarding, they bore me.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
then explain all the other highscoring reviews this game has gotten? Besides the vnboard ones...
My point isn't about good reviews... its about these two shills putting out "reviews" like they have any professional credentials to be doing so. In this case, it is nothing more than shilling. Both of those guys have been in Turbine's good favor for a long time. Extreme bias is littered throughout their prattlings.
This sums up the whole review right here...
"I couldn't give them a 10 on this category as much as I wanted to."

That was a pretty good review.

There aren't a lot of serious reviews out so far, but the initial reaction from the press has been quite positive:
