Ya no &*(%)$# kidding...   Their live beta was TERRIBLE and had absolutely NO chance to be released when they wanted.

This is going to be an ok game for all the lame, non-power player, part-time, casual, annoying whiners.

I'll see the rest of you in WoW (If the letdown from the hype don't kill it), GWs and EQ2

Don't hold back Ziggen... tell us how you really feel...

An yet another intelligent, mature member of society decides to post a reply here at mmorpg.com.image And you are calling SoR fans whiners???image Go figure.

Let me show you how to make an intelligent post Ziggen image

    1. "Ya no &*(%)$# kidding...   Their live beta was TERRIBLE and had absolutely NO chance to be released when they wanted. "

I agree and disagree with you on this one Ziggen. SoR open beta had a lot of bugs and server issues, but it was not the worst I've seen or terrible. It was beta, and Nevrax each week provided updates and patches in response to the testers' reports. I do agree that if SoR had been released as is on June 15, 2004, it would have not faired well at all and would have failed because not many people, including myself, are willing to pay to beta test a game. It was the right decision for Nevrax to make to push the release date back to September.

2."This is going to be an ok game for all the lame, non-power player, part-time, casual, annoying whiners."

Just because I like or someone else likes something else you don't doesn't make us lame or annoying whiners. SoR does cater to a different type of mmorpg player than L2, EQ and just hack-n-slash, PvP mmogs. I'm not calling EQ just hack-n-slash or PvP btw. EQ was a good game the first year or two it was out, and EQ2 looks good and probably will be a very good mmorpg that will win back a ton of old EQ players who have left the game. You are the one who is whining Ziggen. BTW, RPGs & MMORPGs  have been a hobby of mine since the days of the pen & paper RPG probably before you were in or out of diapers p.

3."I'll see the rest of you in WoW (If the letdown from the hype don't kill it), GWs and EQ2."

I plan on trying out WoW and EQ2, and I did play the E3 alpha demo of GW and in my opinion, one of the best alphas I've played. If Nevrax gets their act together and fixes the bugs, solves the servers' issues, and does include the promised content of Guilds, player dueling, kitin invasions, goo, and history and story, SoR will be a good mmorpg that I will be happy to pay to play.

Will SoR do better than EQ2, GW or Wow? No. These three titles will probably be the top 3 mmorpgs this year if they live up to the hype. EQ2 will still be a top mmorpg this year even if it doesn't live up to the hype, which it probably will. SoR will have a solid following though from its fans, but only if Nevrax comes through this fall and delivers a game free of the bugs and server crashes with promised content.

SoR maybe just catered to a person who is into actually role playing. I don't know. And Ziggen, I know that you are probably actually a pretty smart and mature individual, but when you make a post like that you are asking for it p.image

I figured that if I posted an obvious "flame me" type message that it would draw in at least a few "lame, non-power player, part-time, casual, annoying whiners" and well beggars can't be choosers... I'll take whomever I can get regardless  of how long drawn out and boring their post is. image

I argued from the begining that their beta code was worse than most alpha codes that I have seen and that this game was certailny  not going to be released on time.  Many disagreed with me when I said this, insisting that SoR devs could get their act togeather and release as planned.  I knew this from 2 days of testing, how come SoR couldn't figure it out sooner?  I'll let you folks put 2 & 2 togeather for this one...

You release a game to "Beta" when you have in house tested and fixed most of the problems.  Releasing to beta is catch things that may get overlooked during the in-house testing, ie smooth things out.  If in fact this was a standard by the book beta release then the  SoR dev staff plainly suck.  This game in open beta was nearly unplayable for most and totally unplayable for others.  Compare it to the open beta from Guild Wars... that was totally playable and I was sad to see the open beta period end.  Yes they did fix some issues and in the end it was about 50% of the way to being accaptable for "beta" release.

Just because I like or someone else likes something else you don't doesn't make us lame or annoying whiners. Wow are you ever way off base here.  I am calling the folks "lame, non-power player, part-time, casual, annoying whiners" because the are...  not because they like something I don't.  Hell don't like any of the games I play...  makes absolutely no difference in my world.  Those that constantly post that the MMORPGs are unfair because of power gamers, full time players ect are exactly whom I'm speaking about...  if this is you then deal with it... don't rebuttle with super lame responses like you have.

I have played D&D/AD&D for just over 16 years now.  TMNT, Heroes Unlimited, Warhammer, BattleTech are a few of the other "pen & paper games" I have played, all starting before the good ol' power house of a pet PC rolled out.   I have no idea why you posted your comment about playing pen & paper games while I was still in diapers... ok your old we get it... thanks...

Yes if they do all that to fix SoR and maybe clean up the stretched out player models,  get rid of the stupid concept of loading loot, hell freezes over and a freaking miracle in the MMORPG world happens then it may just possible be a good game =) image  Am I going to hold my breath?  Ah... no.

Then consider SoR Dead.  Nuff said.  It's not gonna happen unless they pull a miracle out of their ass.

SoR maybe just catered to a person who is into actually role playing. I don't know. And Ziggen, I know that you are probably actually a pretty smart and mature individual, but when you make a post like that you are asking for it p.

Wanna role play?  Join a DAOC RP Server... those folks are hardcore roleplay with the support of mythic fully behind them...  it's a pretty cool place to hang if you like that sorta thing.  SoR is a good try... its unfortunatly only ever going to be just that, a good try.

Of course I'm asking for flames hehe... gotta get this place rockin somehow =)

My opinions are very strong and I am very agressive in what I write.  It's certainly not personal I just love debating and bashing out issues like this =)
