I put no because the game title "Star Wars Galaxies" has alot of really bad, heavy baggage associated with it.
It depends on who's working on it. SOE immediately sets off alot of alarms.
It depends on what direction they're taking in implementing the game. I would love to see the Skillpoint System again. I would like numerous, large worlds to explore. It would be nice to see the level of crafting implemented from the old days and the player interaction associated with it. It would be nice if space meant something more and alot of players got involved. JTL had some nice things but space was sadly lacking on player involvement.
It depends on how they treat the Star Wars story / canon. SWG eventually took little regard for the Star Wars story. Simply put, there are a number of fans that expect a number of things with a game having "Star Wars" on it.
There's more to Star Wars than slapping an X-Wing and an ARC-170 on the screen with a Jedi strapped to the nose sabreblocking incoming blasts.
I'm not saying I never would buy a "SWG2" but alot of things have to be done right.

I would, because to me, the reason SWG sucks now is because it's the result of trying to stretch the same skin over three different games. The first time around, it fit pretty well, but it had a few holes, so they decided to scrap that game and put it on a new one. It had a lot more holes, but "hey, we're going in the right direction." They changed it again, and that skin was all...lame and torn and such.
My option wasn't there either, so I went with option two which was the closest to "Yes I will be playing BioWare's Star Wars MMORPG!" ... I'm still hopeful... facts make it possible if you do the research
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.
I just say, that it would be nice with a Star Wars MMORPG! I don't say there are any ones out there. NGE is a generic game that could be anything! I want a SW mmorpg like KOTOR or something. That'd sell.

As a beta participant, Star Wars Galaxies was by far the best most immersive gaming experience available. As a verteren gamer and certainly not a Star Wars fan, I was skeptical- not about the competency of the game, but of my ability to enjoy a new type of environment. You see, I came from Dark Age Of Camelot, the run of the mill hack, slash and level games were second nature to me. It was obvious, Star Wars Galaxies was everything I wanted in an MMORPG but never realized I wanted- as it hadn't been available until then. I was a nurse in the Karan Hospital during beta (and after) and found it exceeded my every expectation. Socially, it was rich with opportunities no matter what faction you portrayed. The roles you fulfilled were evenly balanced and (SHOCKER) fun to inhabit! There was a unique commradery between players unlike any I had witnessed before. While tasks were still challenging, they weren't unthinkably hard without a 40 man raid team. Advancing was challenging but the process was light-hearted and fun. It was, for once, not like *work*. The goals were entirely customizable, the diversity of professions made for an even more diverse world, and each one was ripe with the possibility of new adventures. The living, breathing world was unlike anything I anticipated, it was fully functional and literaly alive with spontenaity and wonder. The AI was mangificently drawn and that we could interact with them in ways beyond the simple "shoot shoot kill kill" added an astonishing new dimension to gaming. I had friends there, and each individual had a purpose within that living world that was equally imperitive to it's function.
I still mourn the loss of Star Wars Galaxies as it was.
The first downhill plummet came with the addition of player cities - which came with no real logical reason other than to segment a thriving community of players. The once bustling cities became veritible wastelands, the hundreds upon hundreds of villages littering the lavish landscape were typically cliques and presented nothing other than high school politics and conflict. I was excited about the concept of player cities, but when I saw the devastating results it had upon the community as a whole, I was deeply disappointed. That very integration removed so many social opportunitites and sponteneous grouping efforts from the game. Roles seemed no loger pertinent to the environment or the community as a whole, instead people became competitive, and the world itself segregated by boundaries. I strongly believe the intention of player cities was to be anything but what the players made it to be. It weakened the entire community structures and negated so much of the original content- such as the bazarres, and the capitol taverns- which were unique environments to socialize on common ground outside of the combat spectrum. While player cities had these structures, with the abundance of the sprouting over the landscape, many were empty or had but a few AFK players accruing dancing experience.
I saw echoes of what came to pass when Image Designing was entirely revamped, and what had been one of the most innovative additions to any game was now nothing more than a redundant grind. I left shortly after, only to come back much later after the combat "Revamp" that literally redefined the entire game and made it exactly like the rest, a long, trecherous shoot'em up game where the ultimate goal is a level. I remember when SWG was in it's earliest states and one of the proudest announcements made was the fact that it had NO LEVELING. It is so disheartening they did a complete 360 on that when it was a staple of their structure and differentiated them from the standard MMO.
I was never more displeased with the evolution of the game, and didn't bother staying for more than three days after renewing my subscription. It made me physically ill to see what the SWG universe had been reduced to.
Even more disturbing was that SOE literally ignore the THOUSANDS of vocal protests around the world and remained literally oblivious to the desires of the community that had set up home there. To this very day, being one of the most despised companies in the entire industry, they do nothing to redeem themselves from the gross disservices they're guilty of committing. This is what happens when men in suits sit around a table and decide the fate of a game for the $$$ - In contrast, a company like Blizzard, who has a vested interest in their success, and their subscribership, realize that their future depends on it's subscribers and they listen to them rather than turn the other cheek and systematically destroy what was built. SOE does nothing more than spit in the face of their community. They want you cash, they don't care if you enjoy yourself or not. Anything more they've done has been to simply placeate the complaints and each change they make that promises improvement has only appeared to be a quick sleight of hand on their part. Like an act of spite, they may re-integrate a long lost feature (Creature Handling anyone) but it will be 10 times more difficult and such a chore that few will bother applying themselves to advance in it. SOE simply does not know how to partner with their subscribers. It has proven so in every game they've made or distributed, EQII, SWG, Planetside, the godawful Matrix Online. SOE does not react to enquiries from their own consumers, even when they have lost so many customers, even when 98% of public reviews on the largest commercial internet distributers (Amazon, EBgames) are negative and filled with jaded ex-players. On forums like then, when the GREAT majority will be similar to the ones who have already posted, and have written SOE off entirely- SOE does not care. They cackle behind their desks and flip the community the bird.
I doubt there will be an SWG 2, and unless Lucas Arts takes the reigns, it will be a near exact replica, if not MORE difficult and pretentious as the currrent product. Like the original and the current subscribers, which consist of nothing more than a few fanboys who inevitibly end up on youtube in some viral video standing in a robe and swishing around a fake light saber from K-Mart.
The real gaming community has moved on and they're angry- rightfully so. SOE is perhaps the most despised company in the history of game development. Evidence can be seen literally everywhere. Any time anyone slips the modern day game F word - SOE - Gamers literally fall into seizures and drop to the floor weeping, some turn bright red from pure outrage, others recoil in sheer terror.
Guess what? SOE doesn't care. It's just a gaming tragedy, one that will go down in the annals of virtual history as the greatest loss, and biggest injustice. So sad.
I would play it, as long its not a retarded WoW clone. It should be something that captures the amazing feeling from the movies and gives you the ability to just live in the Star Wars world
Maybe...would depend on how it was developed, whether I enjoyed the beta, whether the release was fairly flawless (LotRO spoiled me) and a couple of other factors (like is the game any fun?)

uh Fuhk yeah. Just as long as they stick to the you have to work for your jedi and a jedi should be overpowered the yes. And you have to work to become a jedi.
I don't know if SWG2 would get enough players if it was done by SOE. SOE just has a lot of bad juju around it right now.
IF SOE was to do SWG2 and it was pre-cu, I would do it in a heart beat, but I ain't holding my breath. I'd expect something more like that to come from another company that truly saw how people loved the original game and wanted to capitalize on the system, make it what it could/should have been (all the bug fixes).
I would definatly look into it. However, a game like SWG should be skill based and not level based. Furthermore it should be hardcore and not softcore MMO. It should basically be the way SWG was originally suppose to be and not have a ton of lame jedi's running around that run like a retarded gumby.
Plus where will lucasarts annouce there 2 new games? on their site? wanna know wat they got planned , fingers crossed for some good games. Although saying that it will prob be Star Wars battlefront or Star wars lego or something ...... hope not tho.
Dudes. does pre-cu mean like the KoToR period? If so then hell yes.
But one thing, I don't think they should try make a character with a blaster gun balanced with a jedi, its just dumb. It should be like KoToR where other options are available (mainly for npc's) but the focus is on jedi/sith. The only excpetion i can think of is a class simular to a bounty hunter, like jango fet, which could actually kill a jedi, the rest can go home. (I haven't played SWG, episodes 4,5,6 where fun as a child but they bore me, plus it has a bad rep.)
I do think if anyone else trys it will be fps style not many choices and very linear in development considering that possiblity the answer is no. Does that mean i will never play a star wars game again , na i will try them but the dream that was swg is no longer at least in it's present form for me.
all of people on this forum at least will try it once..
I've been burned with SOE and SWG already.
I've been fooled once and they won't get me again! This happens with other games & franchises, not just SWG / Star Wars. In all honesty, most Star Wars games are bad or just plain mediocre. I've learned over the years to be careful when making a Star Wars game purchase.
I'll prefer to sit back "if swg2 released today" and see how much splatter occurs before taking action.
Side note:
Another thing that interests me is the diversity of gameplay and how the Star Wars background is used. Namely, there is far more to the Star Wars story than Lightsabers and increasingly overpowered Force Powers.

SWG is a funny game, it was best at launch, and it got progressively worse with every change. Player cities removed the populations from the cities. Jedis just plain destroyed the game. CU and NGE were both bad as well. The game was great until Jedi turned it from a game with no levels to one of the biggest grinds in any MMO. No one played classes anymore after that, they just grinded and dropped them.
