I've tried the EVE trial a couple of times and have enjoyed it, although it seems like it would take a while to actually get to the good part of the game...which is what? I'm not even sure of that. I do know that I have liked it, but is it really worth my time to invest into this game so "late" in the game? What do you guys (please post constructive remarks) feel about the content in this game? Is there enough to give me something to look forward to in the game or is the end game still a bunch of clicking on waiting on skills that seemingly have no effect (not to sound harsh)?

Hey Guys!
Im over your typical mmorph like wow, everquest and others along such similar story lines. I stumbled accross this game about 2 years ago when i was living with one of my old house mates and i started playing it for a week or so before his comp went kaboomy lol and i loved it but atm the comp ive got cant handle the graphics all that well and i couldnt really take off or read the txt to well. Just wanted to know are the corps and well general players helpful in this game and work together? cause i really want to play this game on my new comp in a few weeks and go around with a few guys / gals and yeh
I started paying a year ago because I wanted to leave EQ2. I had read a bit about the scams in Eve and thought I'd give it a try until something new came out that caught my fancy. 14 months later and I'm still here.
As long as you get into an active corporation you can be an active part of any team from early on. As said above I haven't palyed another game where you can become so well known. SirMolle is a name everybody in Eve knows and possibly fears or hates and any post he makes on the forums gets pages of replies.
A lot of Eve can be in essence pretty boring; mining, gate camping, flying 26 jumps in an Obelisk but somehow as a whole it works very well.
I posted this a couple of months ago and still haven't really changed my mind: www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/102354
I support Belgiums efforts to get noticed ... at all.
The misconception new people have about EvE is that if they join this late ingame everyone will "pwn them" this is completly untrue, just because a person has 10mil skill points and you only have 1mil doesnt mean you cant kill them. For exemple a player specialized in interceptors to the max,but you got to a interdictor, you would be able to kill that person with ease and even be of more use to your gang/corp than he is.Personaly I love EvE because of the control it gives to players over the game world, the economy is player driven and imo best economy you will ever find in a MMOG,another thing I love is that the game supports both hardcore and casual players with it's skill system. Also eve in my book has the best MMOG PVP system, cause pvp in eve makes sense and pvping is dangerous, you can loose your ship wich could be a huge loss,or you could blow someones fully gisti fitted ship and make milions,or if you are a pirate you could ransom them, asking for money in order to let them walk away in their ship/pod.Also isk is pretty easy to make after 2 weeks or even less, dont try to buy isk,it's way too damn easy to make, you can make isk by mining, trading, pirating, being a merc/bounty hunting, hunting NPC rats (this is very profitable if you are lucky,I made 200mil in 1 hour of casual playing hunting some NPC rats, and even if I had low SP I would of still made that cash cause I caught a 4 faction spawns that dropped realy nice loot) and the list goes on,you can even get spy missions from other corps, where they ask you to join X corp and tell them their plans.Eve is mainly pvp game, the bad things about eve (from my point of view) are the "blob wars" wich I dont get involved in and not alot of PVE elements (except some fun/hard missions + complexes). Also about the dev/GM cheating thing, the whole story is old but basicly there was a dev or GM in a big corp in eve and he helped them by getting them some T2 BPOs (schematics for tech 2 gear, wich are hard to get) ,he was discovered ,the BPOs taken away and the end,it didnt affect my gameplay at all tbh.
Basicly that's what I have to say if anything made sense,I aint going to tell you to buy it ,if you tryed the trial afew times and enjoyed it you could get it,to get to the "good part of the game" it takes 1 week, after 1 week of some skill training you can already jump into PVP action, ganged or otherwise, the thing is you wont be able to stand up alone to most T2 ships with only 1 week of skills and lack of pvp experience.
If you're new to the game, that's exactly what I say you should do. Cinch up your nutsack and accomplish something, because you can.
That's all I have to say about that.
I'm not saying EVE is perfect. Nor is it a game that everyone will love. But those are just some of the reasons why I love it.

Its not everyones cup of tea, but i think its the best game out there bacause you can do as you please. You can be a rookie and with tactics be able to beat a veteran. The posibilities are immense, and for those who have patience the rewards are worth it.
Its a game where pvp actually means something
The game has a lot to offer, but patience is a must.
affraid you cant catch up with the older players huh?
1: EVE is designed to last forever, therefore CCP throw more skills to train into the game every now and then. eve startet a few years ago but since the game is made this way you will still be one of the first players. eve grow every day, start today and there will be players more new than you within a few hours. EvE is just startet!!! even in 2010.
2: you can max out skills to a ship class, so older players a NOT better than you they just got more ships to pick from.
There's also the industrial aspect of EVE that I dabble every now and again. I've always been drawn to the 'industrial' side of MMOs and EVE provides to that pretty darn good.
well its settled then ill get my new computer in a few weeks and ill start my way into the endless universe of EVE and hopefull meet / fight / trade / suprise some of you online hehe.
any advice for when your just starting off would also be apreciated guys n gals
there is a flip side to this, and that is if the skills don't mean that much and it only takes 1 week to be competent "and stand up alone to most t2 ships with only 1 week of skills and lack of pvp experience", why bother playing the game at all? The truth is that skills do matter, and that it takes more than 1 week to actually be effective....especially 1 vs 1..................
This game isn't that shallow that you'd be able to even come close to being competent in 1 week, it takes literally at least 6 to 7 months before you are even close to competent in PvP......if you look at BOD, there is a reason they don't allow anyone under so many skill points from joining them......

The game is dead not, this game is good we make it and Romania Tv give it 5 goat heads, this is good rating for game.
enjoy the corruption.....you'll probably enjoy the first month or two, but game does get old, and repetitive, and if you manage to suffer thru that, you'll eventually be cheated / scammed after you build enough worth stealing
The game is constantly evolving, so new ways to cheat are happening all the time.....

You have probably heard about the biggest scam in EVE, which for me, have me stop playing after some hours after I found it on the web.
There was a guy who was running trade routes in low sec areas to make ALOT of ISK, but he got really tired of the damn PK'ers by the warp gates that said 2 mill ISK or oblivion.
So he and his mate, searched for investors to buy the most expensive blueprint of a ship in the game, don't know which one, but a ship you do not want to meet :P.
And after allot of time these investors, believed in him, and then after allot of meetings and IRL mailing they wired all their ISK to him.
Then the deal was that he would buy the blueprint, so he could copy it, and give one to each of the investors.
But he took all the credits and bailed out of the deal, making the other furious.
Happily rich he was flying back to some space station. But by a warp gate he got oblitirated by some PK'ers, his character was gone, and he quit playing.
Every time i think of EVE. I think of this.
Cheers! I'm out ::

genius inside insanity
and silver people get scamme it happens and people take retribution ...
asfar as that story goes either a your completely making it up
or youve been reading the posts of someone who played for 2 hours and quit
1. pirates done kindly ask you to hand over your iskies. they blow your ship up and take whats left, if they scramble your pod they might demand some isk or kill you.
2. his character was gone? sorry no eve isnt permadeath he would just espawn in the station and haveto buy a new clone.
investors randomly giving him money without product inhand?... sorry the average eve player is smarter than to fall for that stupid of a scam
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

Join a corp and dare to go 0.0..
EVE is an MMO and even if it certainly is playable solo, I have done so myself for long periods of time.. But, the formula of playing with other people just pretty much rocks!!
Still remember my first fleet op about a year and a half ago.. Teamspeak.. Orders flying.. Primarys being called.. Scramblers.. OH, WHAT A RUSH!!!! Lost my first couple of ships there, and it was so worth it.. Defending our station.. Just seeing those dreads hammering an enemy POS!!! Huge feeling..
ISK come easy, just makesure you spend them having as much fun as possible...
Easiest way to make ISK? Join a good corp.. Do some hauling for a big mining op and you can easily get a few million in an hour or so.. Or gang up and take out some rats, also a few million if you are in 0.0..
ENJOY!!!!
