But I suppose the executioner is irrelevant since most folks secretly want it to be SOE and it wasn't. As it stands, people were told to come back tomorrow to do their paperwork and some may get hired by SOE.

One can speculate on any number of possible scenarios, however it all started with how Brad and his team presented the game. It was my impression as an old school fan of Verants that we would see remnants or methodology that made EQ one of the top MMO's. Naturally I wasn't expecting another EQ, however I thought for sure that the 'vision' and 'systemic' formula would be there to give Vanguard a new refreshing style to MMO's. To my utter disappointment Brad went with the demographics versus building a game with his signature style.

Perhaps in the next few days we can sift through shambles and see what might have been the root cause.

I had no way to completely authenticate it, it comes from a very reliable source, however I didn't want to jump the gun.

    Already done by Kenze.

When they print the next Webster's dictionary, under the definition of 'ironic' I think this thread will be found as an example.

I said in one of my earlier posts "If a company screwed up, then they should be the ones to pay the price, not their customers."   If this rumor is true then those poor, unfortunate workers at Sigil have done just that.

I hope they saw the writing on the wall better than many others have and were able to prepare for it.

I think May 15th is going to be a very interesting day for folks like Fariic1, Teala and Healz4u.

I know I'll be watching these Forums.

    It's called a rumor.

Don't take something out of context.  That was written about the release.  I don't really like when some one tries to be smart by taking a bit of writing and connecting it to something that doesn't relate.  It makes me feel dirty and used.  It's also insulting.

Post the link a few more times.  I don't think anyone got it yet, and please try not to wet yourself.

Actually, if Schild posted it as front page news, you can pretty much count on it. He's got the connections for one, and for two, unlike some sites, he won't post something just to get hits.

It ALL goes back to the initial release.   That has been my point and the point of others in this thread.

It all goes back to whether or not a company wants to release a stable game or release a game that is broken.   All of this started with Vanguard's release, this is just the latest continuation of that train wreck.

Sorry if you feel dirty, maybe if you spent less time defending garbage business practices you might feel clean.

    "LMAO! Vanguard is not dead."

So...when is it you think they will hit 500k subs again? Things look like they are really going well over there.

  • StarkStark Member Posts: 119

SOE just made room on thier corporate shelf for Vanguard. It will sit between MxO and SWG. Vanguard is not SOE's new flagship title so it will never get the attention they give to thier EQ1/EQ2 franchise. SOE has the station pass and adds in those numbers when talking about # of people playing one of thier games. Even with padded numbers Vanguard will never reach 500k subs.

MxO, I never played but and thats the only SOE MMO that I guess I can say - I have never played... Sadly, after looking at video's - It has some good potential if given some resources instead of leaving it sitting without any new content since forever - give that game some of the sigil employee's and push out a expansion. Free Trial too.

I sincerly think that some people will be curled up clutching their Super Deluxe copy of Vanguard and screaming over and over again that it isn't dead in the water even as the men in white come and take them away.

I was a fan and I admire a little dedication to "your" game of choice but a few of you have stuck with the game longer than Brad himself, if the blogs are to believed? Oh yeah it's all false info. They just want to harm the precious.

It's not the end of the world. Go out and get some fresh air and a beer. Get good and drunk and rant about what a wanker Brad is to make yourself feel better and then go to the PC store and get something else.

    It will be OK......

Probably SOE wanted them to fix as much as possible before they brought in the skeleton crew to moderate the game ala Matrix.

It seems the details that we're getting today would  indicate that this sorry disaster was FAR from bring 'completely outt of the develpers hands'.   It sounds like things were being mismanaged a long time before release.

And yet most other people on these boards were able to recognize Brad M for his incompetence rather than buying into his transparent spin and lame excuses.

I'm sure some will insist that these are just more rumors, but considering the number of different sources and common theme running through them, it's only a matter of time before even the most hardcore Vanbois won't be able to deny the tanks are rolling into Bagdad.

Most company don't run out of money because they're being managed CORRECTLY,

Learn from Vanguard?   If there is any justice Sigil will go up in flames, SOE will hire back the poor unfortunate workers who toiled on the game and Brad M and the rest of the Sigil management will never have another development company touch them with a ten foot pole.

    to the OP:

    HAHAHAHAHA!!

    LOLOLOLOOL!!!!!

    /sigh  that felt good.

I think the majority of the beta testers already knew this was going to happen.  And all you VSOH fans who kept hoping it would improve:   keep paying and playing!   they need the money to continue completing their "Pay for Beta" game.

Done and Done.  Really, who didn't see this coming from a mile away? The moment Brad went crawling back to $OE (after being DUMPED by M$), it was doomed.  DOOOOOOOOOOMED!!!!

There are still better games to look forward to, so don't cry too hard. Just cancel your account now and go play something else till the meantime, or save up your money for when the GOOD MMO's start coming out soon.

    And that is why...

Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.

To those of you that keep BS'n on this forum about how bad Vanguard is and preaching gloom and doom can keep right on doing what you're doing.   Anyone that comes on here and reads your BS post and believes it is a real shame.   Despite Vanguards rocky last few months I can attest that it is improving and it has gotten better.   As I have said time and time again, Vanguard was released 1 year(not 3 months and not 6 months) to early and slowly but surely it is getting better.  In 6 to 7 more months this game is going to be one of the best there is.   I remember people saying SWG was going to crash and burn when it first launched and I was there saying just the oposite and it did remain a good game until the NGE killed it.  SWG turned into a great game pre-NGE.   To bad SOE mucked it up!
Well I am here to tell you that I predict that Vanguard will be here a year from now and it will be way, way better than it was at launch.  Will it die?  LMAO!  No.  In fact I am here to say that I think it will have 200k to 300k subscribers by June of next year.   No those are not WoW's numbers but they are respectable and in 2 years time Vangaurd will no doubt be pushing 500k.
    Yes...500k!
You heard it here first from one of Vanguards most harshest critics.
There is only one problem with your post though.

For some Odd reason you forgot to factor in the Biggest three words of all into your Equation.
