... who said, and I paraphraze, "$OE is only going to be the publisher, they don't own the game, and they never will".

Really? Really Really?

Who had May 15th in the death pool?

It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled :( - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me.
I don't like it when you say things. - A Vanguard fan who does too.

It's the "they never will" part that was so silly for anyone to say (and I know a lot of people did).

Anyone who has half a brain should've realized SOE would eventually totally own the game. Sigil was too small, and in too much debt, to be able to stay afloat with SOE hanging over their heads.

The best part is, all the people that said that are now repeating the same words of Smed he used back when they bought MxO. It's hillarious how these people are just continuously fooled by the same exact lines.

I really have to start selling time shares to the mmo crowed, there's a fortune to be made.

Lol.  I believe we can put Brad up at the top of the quote list but I'm too lazy to go find it.

This is just getting sadder and sadder for Vanguard but also Morbidly fascinating....

Kind of like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

Doesn't really matter, I don't think SOE can really hurt VG..... already pretty broken so this change might actually bring some improvement to the game.

At least people can put away their dreams of:

RTS like player run cities, A breeding and working mount system, Working flying mounts, An inquisitor class, Player changing lore and on and on and on...

The things that's nice about SOE is you know the team will get steady, if not minimal, amount of funding to get the game to par and keep it there. Throw out and expansion pack here and there and bang, your done. You've got a mediocre, acceptable, "harder" core game than EQ2.

Well done Brad, way to keep to the "vision".

2 ways to look at this story....

    1. Sigil out and out lied when they said 'soe never'. This would be pretty bad, and deserve backlash.

    2. Sigil had no intentions, no desire to sell to SOE (maybe even felt about SOE they way many haters here do) and then after a bad release and lower than projected subscriptions, they were forced to crawl back to Mr. Burns thru the 'supplicant' door. If this is the true scenario, way to kick a man when he's down with backlash.

I think there are many out there who smelled something rotten in Denmark the moment SOE became publisher, I think many others were skeptical that SOE would take over but trudged ahead anyway and now feel that at least they were prepared for it, I think some blindly trusted the future would never ever include SOE, they feel betrayed.

I didn't care how the whole thing got resolved, but I knew it would. No one is going to throw a 36 million dollar investment down the toilet....well, I guess Brad kinda did.

Some people can be told not to piss on an electric fence, and others must learn for themselves.

Where's the Vanbois who constantly said "$OE won't own VG"? Let's hear from them.

I've despised SOE since the CU/NGE debacle. I swore I would not give them any more of my hard earned money.

But well, months of time went by with no MMORPGs that I and my friends wanted to play. One guy got into WOW... one stuck with COH... the rest got bored and started to drift away. We needed to find something we could all at least try. One guy DLed a bunch of trials and said he really liked what Vanguard had at least in terms of potential (yes, there's that word). And most of us just did not like the "cartoony" style of WOW (we have nothing against it per se if that's what one likes; it's just not for us). So a few people decided on Vanguard and they started to work on me, trying to persuade me to drop my anti-SOE stance. When that failed they said "Well SOE doesn't really _own_ it... they just publish it."

My response even then was, "Oh please."

When I finally ate my hate (by the way, if you ever have to do that, make sure to put some honey  mustard on it -- the hat'll go down a lot easier) and agreed to subscribe, I did it saying, "Look I have not been fooled. I know I am subscribing to an SOE game." I didn't buy the "SOE will only publish" line, then or ever. A lot of them told me I was wrong, that SOE would "never" own it, just publish.

I am not going to try to do the "I told ya so" thing with them... They don't even understand why SOE being in control is an issue for me, because none of them played SWG during the NGE/CU fiascoes.  But I just do not see how anyone with any sense at all, could possibly have bought the "SOE will publish but that's all" line, even for half a second. You'd have to be so gullible words cannot describe it, to fall for that...
