Hello fellow Gamers!
Anyone out there still playing the old classic UO? Seeing that UO Art Koltrane posted a few days ago made me wax nostalgic and start thinking about giving it another go. I also took another look at UXO and must admit I am intrigued. Unfortunately, its scheduled for release about the same time as EQ II. Decisions, decisions! Everyone knows that UO had the absolute best crafting / class based system ever. The miner / blacksmith inside me is threatening to come out.
Anyway, thinking about possibly going back into Brittannia soon. Let me know if anyone is still in there or interested in giving it a second try.

I had no clue they were illegal either, i played a bit on some all in good faith.
I could easily have written a post that like that pointing people to any free servers.

UXO is going to be much different than the original. For one, PvP will be at a little, there will be more questing (apparently the quests are very deep though) also, they are using a different leveling system than UO, which disappoints me.
I personally think that EQ2 is going to blow UXO out of the water, but that's just me
I have one question about UO for those who have gone back or didn't leave at all. My brother and I played and quit after the last expansion - simply because the lag in many areas became intollerable (and we both have good broadband connections and good machines).
How is the lag now (particularly around housing areas)? I thank you in advance for your response.

Still have my account with UO, not sure if ill ever go back to it or just wait for one of the newer games to hit the stand. as of right now i have no thoughts about going back just keep account for sentiment i guess
lol, shows how little this admin cat knows, private servers are actually quite legal, and as such should be openly discussed, if any of these servers however were to charge anyone for said services, then it would cross the line into being illegal and would be quicly stomped out by OSI, Are private servers condoned by them? No. Are they legal? very much so. So here is basicly what i have to say to anyone who wants to complain about talking about them.....STFU NOOB

Yup UXO also looks fine to me too.
I an and real MMOG addict I have played some of the bunch like EQ II that clearly state "Group forcing policy" and simply are not playable too my small time intervalls tough frequently available. So for me its easy an decision.

Actually, it shows how little you know. Our staff and Admin in particular have had several communications with the game publishers and they are adamant about the illegality of player run shards. The issues of copyright law and international law can make it tricky for the owners of the game copyrights to enforce their rights on servers located abroad, but it does not mitigate their ownership of the intellectual property. Regardless of whether or not these rogue operators can skirt the law on a technicality, the fact remains that the game publishers do not condone this activity and neither does this website.
If you wish to promote this activity, then you should find another site. It is not allowed here, and that has been made abundantly clear.
