My main in WoW is a Shaman So i was wondering, What would be a good class combo for a hybrid???? i wanna like melee and while in melee cast a few spells. I wanna melee mostly and I wanna be a anti caster melee.
OR I wanna be a badass PEWPEW archer... any suggestions would help... ALSO with ur build plz tell me what expansion i should get for it as i think i heard some expansions give certain classes diff skills

"i wanna like melee and while in melee cast a few spells."
One word. Dervish. Since a Dervish sounds like it would fit your fighting style (they can cast a lot of enchantments on themselves and others for defense and offense), there's only one place to go for that: Nightfall.
"I wanna melee mostly and I wanna be a anti caster melee."
Good anti-caster profession is Assassin. Since a good caster will hang to the back of a group, skills like Death's Charge and Return (also known as "shadowstepping" or teleportation skills) can be very effective against casters if used properly. You can make an Assassin in Factions.
Rangers (archers) come ina whole bunch of different flavors depending on the build you want to play. I've played mine as trappers, conjure barragers with a pet, Ranger/Ritualist builds using spirits, and poison/bleeding arrow "degen/interrupt" rangers.
The thing to remember about any of these builds is that they're going to be "badass" against some foes and just plain bad against others. That's the beauty of combat in Guild Wars having only 8 skills available during any mission: you're going to have to experiment and find out what works best against the foe you're about to face, whether that foe is another player or NPC.
Key word is "good" assassin. Generally speaking, assassins are a nightmare for monks to keep in good health. At least the poorly played assassins.
Course thinks may have changed, I haven't played much since the release of Nightfall. Hoping to get back into it with the release of EotN. *Excited!
Not to mention a good Mesmer can take out an assassin and in other melee in a matter of seconds...
Sins FTL...

Mesmer FTW!
I heart my mesmer
I say get Nightfall, see if you enjoy the game. Besides, the dervish is quite potent. (They have high self-protection and high-damage, just no big spike...so they're like pressure and most of the time won't beable to kill alone if there's a good monk on the other side...However, switching back and forth and doing a small spike has killed some before)
Anyways, u get all of the skills for paragons and dervishes with Nightfall, for the other classes you need more than 1 game to be really good, so that's why I recommend Nightfall and see if you like it...

Not to mention a good Ele can take out a mesmer in the matter of secondsThis got me to actually LOL...(at work that is not good)...While your statement is 100% true, 1v1 there is no chance for the ele versus a properly speced mesmer probably 90% of the time.
I am serious when I say that Mesmer is one of the most powerful classes in this entire game. You can build them to shut down any class and I dont believe that can be about any other. Because their skills dont come with a lot of animation, they tend to go under the radar. I always enjoy taking my anti-melee mesmer into AB and then running with a group with a warrior, who goes up against a warrior and sees him die in about 5 swings and says "Hey, you see how fast I took him down," as I saw my damage numbers rise through the air.
Mesmer's underused and underappreciated...

Yes you are correct but you missing the main point. When you enter in any kind of PvP you NEVER know what you are up against.
Ofcourse the metagame has several trends and gimmicks builds but can never be shure what you are going up against.
And the mesmer has to specialize in shuting down either spellcaster or melee fighters..
Well if you are a melee shutdown what will happen if you play againts spellcaster spike?
You become quite useless. I only mesmers in GvG and only for monk shutdown.. Nothing else.
And even if i had to take one melee shutdown i'd rather have a blinding elementalist or a curses Necromancer.
About the best in 1on1.. Rangers and Assasins.. These classes take surviving and damage dealing to an all new level
To the OP..
I really think either the Dervish or the Paragon will the best professions for you.
(So you should buy Nightfall)
Btw the game is beautifull

I agree with you totally mate, I love the way mesmers work and I need to create one my self actually, I had a couple of skirmishes with me ele versus a mesmer and I beat him a few times until he brought illusionary weaponry and completely owned me. I personally don't underappreciate mesmer since when I fight on my own I always take a mesmer hench with me, .

"Key word is "good" assassin. Generally speaking, assassins are a nightmare for monks to keep in good health. At least the poorly played assassins."
Actually, this is why - when I play my sins - I use hero monks and leave Warriors off the team. With Flashing Blades and Nightstalker armor, foes have a 75% chance to miss while I'm attacking and I get +15 armor while doing the same. When my sins team with my hero MM, sering flames ele and monk heroes, I can tank with my A/W just fine. And because I'm using Death Blossom every 5 seconds, I can do outrageous damage, enough so that my monks rarely go below 50% energy.
With my A/W Sins knocking stances off Rangers, Warriors, and other Sins, my Assassins truly do live up to the name.
I only get into problems with my sins when other players are occupying my healer (like Eles who don't understand what "stay out of aggro" means).
So yeah, I'd put Sins right up there with the best caster (and boss) killers.
The DPS (Damager Per Second) from a Warrior is more than that of any other profession - which most people either forget or dont realise.
It's also important to recognise that PvE & PvP are two completely different things - just because something works in PvE does not mean it will be useful in any way in PvP, and vice versa.
Dont limit yourself to one profession, either. Characters in GW arent life consuming as they are in WoW, the level cap is lvl20 - from then on you need to improve at the game, because your spells wont get any more powerful. Try as many professions as you can, recognising and prioritising the dangers/weaknesses of your opposition is half the game, and you cant do that if you dont know what each profession is capable of.
Monks are almost always used in every build, at the later stages & in PvP 2-3 monks per team, and they are there for a reason - to keep you alive - so, if you are, for an example, an mesmer, dont bother bringing any self defense skills - do something the profession excells at.
But, dont worry about any of that for now, just play the game and enjoy it, you'll learn everything you need to know in time.
*yawn*
DPS means nothing. Throwing Protective Spirit and Shield of Absorption.
Monks are used in every build...true...but it should not be true...
Monks are too vulnerable to enchantment remove.
Welcome to GW - I've found myself shuttling between GW and WOW for the past few months and I like the change of pace GW provides.
Personally, I would recommend getting a character to level 20 and unlocking several elite skills before entering into PVP. It's tougher to run a competitive PVP build without an elite skill, though not impossible.
I'd agree that a dervish is a good warrior-caster combo similar to a shaman's role in WOW. Though don't count out warrior - you're more of a damage machine in GW than a tank like in WOW. Personally, as a new player I'd shy away from assassin, it can be rough to play one well when you're learning the ropes.
A final note on rangers - they're my favorite class and extremely versatile in PVP and PVE. However, in PVP I've found that I have the most success using my arrow attacks to stun, cripple, and interrupt enemy casters rather than pure damage. Rangers require a bit more finesse than hunters do in WOW.
I'm sure somebody's told you this already - but you'll need all three campaigns to play every class.

Just a note on the synergy between Paragons and Dervishes:
I was playing my second Dervish all day (trying to get through Factions, which I did from Zin Ku to Shiro in 8 hours). When I got to the Sunjiang mission, I teamed with a warrior who brought his protector healer and both searing flame eles. I brought my command paragon hero with "They're on Fire", my hero healer, and my MM hero. We beat that mission for master's in 8:59, and not one hero or player dropeed below 75% health.
The simple truth is the professions and skills are made to work together. No one profession is always going to be the best in every situation, but when you put a team together and see what a whole team can do, well, each player or NPC becomes more than the sum of the team's parts. The command paragon not only helped with defense, but buffed the offensive output of my dervish (which is already pretty amazing anyway).
And while I play my warriors as tanking and defensive specialists, let me add this: I have never seen a warrior outdamage my dervishes or 'sins. Never. When I do Thirsty River with my 'sins and shadowstep to the priests, they're often dead before the warriors can get there. If the warriors go in first, I usually have to help them finish the fight.
There's a simple reason for this: it's called "balance." If a warrior could outdamage a 'sin with their better armor, the professions would not be balanced. All things being equal, a 'sin sacrifices armor for speed and offense. A warrior gets better armor, but sacrifices offense. A warrior can buff offensive output, but he's got to sacrifice defense and armor to get it. A 'sin can buff his defense, but has to sacrifice offense to do so. It's all about the balance, and this is true for every profession and combo.
A derv or a sin have better AoE spike and burst damage than a warrior, respectively, but IMO the Warrior is the king of DPS. Over time, a Warrior has the edge because of his resistance (he can overextend longer than the lower armor dervs and sins) and the nature of his skills (just think of conjure cripslashers, or the classic shock/bull's strike axe template).
"Over time, a Warrior has the edge because of his resistance (he can overextend longer than the lower armor dervs and sins) and the nature of his skills (just think of conjure cripslashers, or the classic shock/bull's strike axe template)."
As you correctly noted, the two key words there are "over time." "Over time" most sins are dead before a warrior goes down. If a fight lasts more than 45 seconds, the edge goes to the warrior, because they're usually all that's left standing. OTOH, most sins and dervs don't see extended battles (at least in PvE) because they kill everything so much more quickly in the time they are fighting.
Do not mistake Indifference for Hate. Nor Kindness for Weakness. for this is the Bane of Judgment !
So you know what you need to counter as well as what you need to deal with...
regardless... just go play. You can't really lose. It take a couple days to get to level 20. But play PvE... just my opinion, but make a PvE character you'll get better items.
BTW... Mesmers rock... still my favourite class.
