What class should I roll?

thekzethekze Member UncommonPosts: 180
Hey guys,

I thought i'd post on EQ2 forums but i can't even find the button to post...

What should I roll? I am looking for a fun class to level that's needed in end-game pvp/raids...

I know that for the most part, needed and fun class are meant to be put together but still!

Such a hard question to answer honestly...

I love my bard, but I know its not for everyone...

A nice balanced, fun and useful class I'd say go with a Wizard (make things go BOOM) or a Fury (healing, buffing and some decent DPS)

Well, what do you like most?

    DPS Caster?

    DPS Caster with a Pet?

    Stealther?

    Tank?

High DPS Melee but not used as a main tank?

    There's many, many options :P

You can never have too much DPS or healing (ok you can, but it doesn't happen that often :P).

Swashbuckler gives you decent DPS and stealth, if that is your style.

Seems like Mystics/Defilers and scout-classes are much recruited in end-game, in my experience the scout-classes solo much better than the Mystics but they don't have the longevity to withstand tough multiple-mob pulls.

to the op, it really depends what endgame style you want to take part in.

i cannot comment on pvp, for normal grouping it is usually not that for any class.  Raiding id the part where classes are most important  at least if you want to go the hardcore way. you can allways join a guild that raids more casually and does not worry about class balance in raids that much and will recruit any class. (but then success of the raids is often not that good too). Basically the most wanted classes for raiding are usually the ones that are not played that often. Cause a balanced raidsetup often has as much different classes as possible (and there are 24 classses and 24 slots in a x4 raid), i would not say that briging 1 of each class is the best setup but having one of each class in guild gives you all options so most raidguilds try to have that  (and not much more than 1 per class).

ok now a few class specific infos based on what i noticed what raid guilds recruit and how many players of which class i have seen looking for guilds in last time. (this might not be true for every server and might change over time again too)

healers:  i think mystic/defiler are the ones needed most by raiding guilds (they are excelent healers/buffers and debuffers), also the plate healers (templar/inq) are getting into need again slowly (they were very popular at start of the game but cause they got really slow and painfull to solo with lu 13  a lot players switched characters or left game) . warden and fury are very popular classes atm cause they are easy to solo classes but that makes these also the classes that are not needed that often by raiding guilds.

mages: i think you could get a spot in a raiding guild with any mage, but i guess the 2 enchanter types (coercer/illusionist) are still more in need cause they are lower played.

scouts: probably the easiest ones to get a spot in raids, they are very important classes in raids (bards for buffs/debuffs, brigand as the single class that will increase the dps output of a raid most with their debuffs, swashy and assasin for good dps and sometimes for their aggro transfers to help tank keep aggro).

tanks: thats a hard one, in the endagme there tends to be a overflow of plate tanks so these might have troubles to get into raiding guilds, also the equip of tanks is really important for the raids (maintank equip is more important than the equip of every other raidmember) , this all leads to the point that hardcore guilds don't often search for plate tanks. Also there is not much use in bringing more than 2-3 plate tanks per raid (1 maintank, 1 offtank/adds tank if needed and 1 reserve tank if one goes down). monks/bruisers might have a better chance to get in as dps spots but i'm not sure about that.

My definition of Fun was found in the Coercer.
First of all, there's so few around that everyone is busy end-game
Also it's probably the most entertaining (and challenging) class there is,
as it takes skill skill and skill to level.
When you get a hang of it, it's dirt easy to solo and group,
however if you drop the ball for a second, you're screwed.

My idea of Fun is to be kept busy and on the edge (as opposed to just sitting lazy clicking two buttons and nothing else) so Coercer just fit like a glove.

Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
    It all sucked.

if u want to have fun on PVP and PVE I suggest you:

    - a shashy: Its really fun for PVP as u can track people. And has nice DPS for raids and groups

    - a fury: its nice for PVP as it has a nice balance dps/healing. And healers are always useful for raids and groups

    - or a ranger: its a tracker too and has awesome DPS.

if you want to solo pvp i will NEVER go for a wizzard nor any cloth class. ans they sucks at lvl 70 for pvp.

if you only want PVP mages and fun though, because you can solo a lot of mobs.
