This was posted the day it was announced, about four times. I wish people would learn to look for older posts instead of making the same ones over and over. :]
Well genius, this was posted by the MMORPG news manager. Maybe you'd like to run this website? Secondly, being announced in the newsletter for the newsletter subscribers is not the same as an announce to the non-subscribers. This was industry news, hence the reason it was posted in the MMORPG news section.

Even better, the runners of an MMORPG site late on MMORPG news.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought they were supposed to be giving out beta places to those already signed up for the newsletter, as a kind of loyalty scheme. That's certainly what they said a couple of months back.
I've not had an invite yet and I've been signed up for the newsletter for ages.
Nooo no no no. When you sign up for Beta you are actually offered a newsletter account to be created for you if you do not already have one. Technically, they could have a seperate list of people to choose from that have been with the newsletter, but as far as a loyalty scheme - no. The benefits to being a part of the newsletter for a long duration of time is that in each issue of it they award random newsletter members a beta key (contest). So, if you signed up in the start where there was a smaller amount of people then you had a huge chance to win one. Now that more people are getting a newlsetter account for signing up to be in Beta, the winning ratio is slightly different.
Actally if you read the latest newsletter if you've already signed up for the newsletter it reccomends you use the email you had for the newsletter within the signup and those checked againest will have a slightly higher chance (included in that are the guild signups) then those that just throw themselfs at it, even tho it doesn't publicly state that during the signup (probly to prevent 'cheating' the system)
So the already newslettered players DO have a better chance
Quote form the newsletter to prove:
There are a limited number of Closed Beta spots available and not everyone that applies will be admitted. However, as a current newsletter subscriber, you have been designated as a preferred Beta Test applicant! This means you have the best chance of anyone of getting into the Closed Beta. The only requirement is that you register with the same email address used to receive the monthly WAR newsletter.
Bring on the WARRRRGGHH!
Does anyone have any insight on how they actually choose who gets to play a beta? Maybe i can edge my bets...
Is it completely random, or first come basis or do they hand select so they end up with some with amazing setups, some with really dire ones, some kids, some pensioners, some guys, some gals, etc etc.
Would be great to know

1. Kossuth... The space for the postcode is big enough if you don't put a space between the two sections, unless your first number is two digit. eg. Mine is NG9, so if it were NG10 it wouldn't fit.
2. Anawiel... It states in the news section that the authentification (log in bit) is disabled for the initial rush to make the site go smoother, so you will be able to log in soon I hope.
Anyway, I'm reeeaaally looking foreward to this, I've been signed up to the newsletter for about a year now so I'm confindent I'll get in.
So hyped up!!
