Well, I don't really have a game with my favorite storyline, but if I actually try getting into WoW I find it pretty intresting!
Well that why they gather lot of lot of money because of that, but can't you notice the story line of Warcraft and Lord of the Rings are almost the same ? wat yah think
I liked FFXI. I wish I could have stuck with FFXI a bit longer, I loved the world and story quest
Ryzom is just unique and strange, probably the best original story intergraded into a MMO all around.
Warcraft has a pretty good history/story that was writen far before WoW. There was good amount of story writen for that RTS series that helped make it so popular.
IP's, IMHO don't count since the devs had nothing to do with creating the story. IP's just get messed up in the long run.
Although AC had an ongoing story, I didn't like the story lol. I didn't like EQ2's story at launch, I thought it felt more like an excuse for the gameworld being so small at launch. (a big cataclysm that destroyed everything but a tiny bit of world) Its good to see they are actually growing that world.
True, now that you look at it, MMOs are really weak in this area, not to many pop to mind when you say "who has a good story". Thats pretty sad seeing as MMOs are the perfect platform for this type of thing. Instead we usually get Generic Fantasy World 7534 - go kill 10 rats.

I agree with FFXI the theme is great and of course the story line, every Final Fantasy series has its unique story lol
Yap what do you think is the best MMO story Line out there. For me it's With your Destiny it's a battle between Human and God (Men how can you beat God's) it's like in a Bible Story, creepy I believe this maybe going to happen! what yah think
Probably lord of the rings, I don't really play mmos for the story, Id rather read a book, they tend not to tell me to go kill rats.

Playing MMO makes you feel the story deeply lol how they hardly kill a rat for food lol
Asheron's Call 1 had the best story line of any game I've ever played. It was a monthly updated story with huge story arcs spanning a year or so. They had live events on all the servers where you could fight dev controlled bosses. Sometimes the boss characters of that story would appear randomly and give you quests. At one point in the game there was a good vs. evil power struggle. People could go PK and side with the bad guy.. so other people had to go PK in order to fight them.
It was amazing, and those will always be the best gaming days of my life. Nothing that I play will ever stand up to that. They are on to like their 5th or so story arc by now, and supposedly it is very good. They've had hits and misses over the years, but it will always be my favorite for so many reasons.

My most involving storyline was Earth and Beyond. It wasn’t the most complexe nor the most powerfull of all but the things the devs did in that game were simply over the top amazing. My main Character started on Mars and when the war began with the Aliens, it was quite a shock to see Mars blown up in pieces. Now when I flew back to the Mars sector, it was space debris.
That’s like WOW destroying IronForge forever and simply letting the old veterans talk about it. It takes guts to do that but if it’s done right, wow… simply amazing!
EvE-Online has an incredible back story, you can download the 80+ PDF on their site.
Saga of Ryzom was quite good too and I must add, very very original.
My final vote would go to a game known as Mankind. Fully driven by players and if you were looking for RP, then that was THE game to play. If you were there when the super guilds began there invasion, then you know what I’m talking about. Players making alliances, struggling for survival, longs hours of discussion on how they will survive the next attack of 6000 ships. Players travelling for a week in order to hide from the enemie, people fighting for that one special ressource… Mankind was one of the hardest game to play and ugh… long at times but after making a few good friends and joining alliances, the storyline began to unfold and if you’re into that kind of stuff, it’s hard to not get addicted.
Ei this are one of my few screen shot's during closed beta of WYDGlobal. According to their News they going to launch their Episode 1: Chaos World this coming June 15. You can check their official site for futher info. I believe this game is a F2P www.wydglobal.com
AC had the best by a long shot. Second place goes to FFXI. I'll never forget when that huge controlled boss kept showing up randomly in towns and randomly wiping everyone out. Asheron showed up out of nowhere and got in a huge fight with him.

FFXI is one of the best choice i know.. Guild Wars has considerably nice storyline but definitely not be best though.
GuildWars/HeroOnline/ScionsOfFate/GranadoEspada
2Moons/GuildWars/FFXII
