WoW already has more votes in the home page poll out of 6000 votes. So that shows just a bit that WoW already has more people likeing it. Anyways WoW will be alot more sucessful BY FAR. no compitition.

Evercrack fans dislike WoW becuase they are scared of it.

i dont think WoW could put all the other mmorpgs ouyt of business, its up to preference, people who like AO and EVE arent going to quit those, because they appeal to totally different audiences as WoW players... and with several other good sci-fi MMORPGS, WoW could never put them out of business

WoW is just over popular because its blizzard... simple as that! The game can be a 100% EQ Clone and the fans would say its better...

Everytime someone defends WoW they mention BLIZZARD, Never the actual game or its content. For EQ 2 its about the game, people discuss the unique features, not the company behind it (sometimes they do to bash SOE).

Honestly, Im an EQ2 fan but am sick of the constant "Who will win? EQ2 vs WoW?" and all the other comparisons. Neither of these two companies will win because A) Blizzard doesn't have the financial backing to put sony out of business and B) SOE doesn't have the fan base Blizzard has.

In the end the player wins because HE gets to choose which game HE likes better, not the community. So please STFU with these stupid comparisons.

It's amusing to see the two in comparison.  You really can't compare most the people raving for wow haven't had to pay a monthly fee for the game yet.  Anything free such as Bnet playing will always foster more fans give it 5 years and then compare.

The two games are both gonna do really well.  This comparison of the two has gone about since MMO's hit the market.  No two games have canceled each other yet.  Instead of comparing the two we should hope the companies strive to make the games the best they can be.

I agree with Ubudar statment and wish to say this. It is true that there is no real point in try to comparte as there is not real statistics to compare. However I would like to ask, is there anyone here that will buy or sign up with wow when it is released. I personally will pay for a month once it comes ut and download it and play and if I like it I will isgn up for the year. However I have not really seen anyone saying weather or not they are going to try the game out.

I'll see how it turns out, I sure won't be starting right out of the gate with the game.  From reading the WoW beta boards over at Blizzard I get the idea that WoW really is an EQ clone.

Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.

    no.

most of the people ive seen that have played wow beta(limited number as it its) arent exactly thrilled with the game. so im guessing, this game is 95% hype.

  • GaurdianKingGaurdianKing Member Posts: 338
I am assumeing these guess get to keep there accounts after the beta is over, so I was wondering why there was such a huge tradeing going on in the forum, from the inpression of my reading, people enjoy the game. However still feel there are a few bugs such as the lack of classes. Then again it does offer more races than linage 2 and more classes. So I am wondering how blizzard will react to this.

Like I said before, WoW, and EQ2 will both sell just fine, because people are stupid, and would buy crap in a box if someone put up a couple videos with flashy graphics, and told them they added voices to it.

It's all well and fine to be fixated on EQ2s graphics, and voices, but if you have to turn it all the way down to be able to play the game, what's the damn point? I guess if style over substance is your thing then EQ2 will be the game for you. Assuming SOE doesn't bungle the whole thing, that is.

Bah, I don't even know why I'm arguing with you people. I should be busy making some flashy graphics renders, and a bunch of empty promises. I don't even need to have a working game. I can survive on all the preorders, and merchandise sales while I string you all along with promises the game will be out... soon.

There is no definitive "end all" in this market.  WoW will take a large chunk, as will EQ2 (My distaste for SOE falls solely on SWG, I liked EQ).  I will try both and stick with the one that suits me.  With Middle Earth and Dungeons and Dragons down the road, there will be even more competition for the genre.  And all will make their fair share of profits.

Nothing is more moronic than someone spouting about how one game is great then calling a person who is interested in another game a Fanboy.   Pot, have you met kettle?

It will run a distant second to EQ2 is my guess.  EQ2 will put several MMORPG's out of business.  WoW will likely "hang in there".

Amazes me that every year someone makes a post saying so and so game will put several mmorpg out of buisness.

EQ2 won't put any game out of business, that wasn't already on it's way out anyway. Neither will WoW, or Warhammer Online, or MEO, or GW, or D&D Online, or, or, or, or...

People still play Meridian 59, for crying out loud. The only games that have had the plug pulled are Motorcity Online, and Earth and Beyond, and both still had people playing when they were axed.

People said EQ would kill UO, DAoC would kill EQ, AC2 would kill EQ, and so on, ad infinitum. Some day people will learn, and two seconds later, the world will end.

NO GAME WILL PUT OTHER GAMES OUT OF BUSINESS!!!!!

EQ2 and WoW will have the most ppl playing though. WHich will leave other MMORPGS with little to nothing but still not out of business

EITHER WAY, EQ2 is gonna rule

I believe that when wow comes out it will be the first mmo to reach 1 million. It will most likely outsell eq2, guild wars, and middle earth online.

Thus making it far superior to any mmo out there.

I'm not saying it will be the best, it will turn into a level grind like any mmorpg. Although biz fans will scream no to that until the day of launch when they realize those personalized quests so hyped up about will have long lines cramming into the dungeon to begin the demon slaying.

LOL  WOW will not be the game to put anyone out of business, the only way a game goes out of business is when the game plain sucks! otherwise why would they be going out of business? i doubt all the other mmorpgs have the reason these games close... just look at the game and you will see why it closed.

Ty nugget for explaining it so good. I absolutely agree with u man.

A game doestn go out of business cause of other MMORPGS its cause the game sux and ppl dont like or are interetsed in it plain simple.

I think WoW was a great idea, but being blizzards first MMORPG, I dont think it will be all that its Hyped to be.  EQ2 will do well, they have experience in the market.  Neither will put anyone out of business.  If its good it will pull players from Daoc and the like, But I dont see that happening either, too many people have too much time and money put into existing games to fully give one up for another.  I have a friend that has over 2yrs on DAOC and has multiple maxed lvl characters that he is NOT going to give up easily.

Don't forget Rubies of Eventide.  That was another axed MMO.  They die, they get cancelled, people move on.

An MMORPG really truly needs to only have 50,000 people to be successful.  Even AC2 had less than that and stayed in the ring.  No single MMORPG will put another one out of business.  A large generation of innovative and successful MMORPGs might put some older ones out of business, but even that is unlikely.  People have already shown time and time again that they're willing to juggle MMORPGs...most people play more than one with no problem, and there are even people who keep active accounts in all of the succesful ones.

WOW has been long anticipated but i think it will be somewhat dissapointing, to those who can't be certain things they were from the RTS of Warcraft.

I do think that with EQ2 and WoW both coming out this year, combined with some slightly lesser known titles such as Dragon Empires, Dark and Light, Guild Wars and others that some of the older games which are walking the line of profitability may be put in a pinch and could go under. But it won't be one single game that did it. It will be the fact that their own game isn't good enough and a number of good games hitting the market just finished them off.
