Here is the message: Failure is an option. It is OK to Fail !
It's about the time of year for convocation ceremony in many colleges across US/Canada ...
Not that I condone the notion that college education doesn't have any substantial merit in our life for the purpose of pursuing our own dream.... it isn't end-all, be-all type of mantra either. And it isn't definitely everything that we are ought to see in our life path.
The reason I'm saying this is there are yearly reports in my campus, I'm sure we are not the only ones, where students (mostly undergrads) commit suicide due the fact that their academic expectation didn't meet the merit bar set by their current academic curriculum.
Some of you might surely be aware that it is hard to underestimate the kind of effect one's academic performance can have in our state of mind especially during the stage of our life where school seems to be everything that matters....
For some of us, failure in school, rejection or divergence from the path of dream can mean extreme measure.
I think we are all conditioned somewhat, from higher to lesser degree, to be intolerant of the notion of failure or any path of divergence from the institutionalized get-go.
My question is do you see yourself as an autonomous being our Creator intented us to be, or helpless merchandized product on the shelve for someone to pick up if they see it fit for their use or reject if they don't?

I just joined the Air Force. ;D
If you're not going to collage, join the military. Best option.
Also, I agree with joining the military, but I would suggest you go to college do ROTC then OCS and start off as a Officer and not a grunt....
Well thats what ill be doing... Going to army and navy academy in september graduate from there go to a military college, take ROTC, go through OCS, then go into the marines as a Infantry officer or Field Artillery officer.
There are few substitutes for higher education. Sure, some people make it big without a degree, but pretty much all of them got damn lucky and/or worked their asses off to do it. It is hard enough to get noticed in today's job market even with a degree of some kind.
I will however agree with the military option, particularly the ROTC program.

Well, the military does not exactly encourage the idea that failure is acceptable. If a person cannot stand the stress of college, I would not really recommend the military. From my general observations, a person honorably discharged from the military has what it takes to get through college. The stress and strain does not get to them.
That said, there are many vocational professions that don't require a traditional college academic education and that's fine. Many of them make a lot of money and that's excellent. Some people are able to make money in vocational occupations and that makes them smart in my book.
People like Bill Gates that do the things they do are self-educating, self-motivating kinds of people. Don't think they didn't have to learn just because they didn't finish college. Luck is only a small part of their success.

Life sucks, buy a helmet.
to me college is for people in a highly specialized field that requires special training or someone who wants to work for the man, me personally i own my own business and didn't need college. If your going to be self employed just get out and do it, i think college is really a crutch for people who don't have any self esteem, they feel like they need to go to college so that they can start their own business, its not hard. there's absolutely nothing wrong with college and its a great fallback if you need a decent job using your degree. but really there's nothing better than being self employed, you are your own boss, you set your own hours, you come and go as you please, and you set your own pay...eh hem, bill gates dropped out of college rofl

Someone has to do the menial work. If we all had degrees who would do it? And don't get me wrong, those jobs are important. The people who do those jobs free up the time for the thinkers.

You disgust me, if you are american your a disgrace to your country... You take our freedoms and liberties and wont defend them. I would so boot your pathetic ass out of this country. Your just a waste of space.
I don't see the American military doing a whole lot of defending at the moment... Or is that just the crap they fill your head with these days, you have to be nuts to not see the hypocrisy that is Iraq, oh wait Iraq is a 'major' threat.. lol.
I do commend your courage though.
O_o o_O
That's the primary way to defend your "freedoms and liberties".
Think about that.
