in Lord of the Rings Online
Ok, I played beta and on launch and a few days after that. At first I was a impressed. But then I got the feeling of im playing WoW but in Lord of the Rings. It is a clone of WoW. There are no player housing things to store items. You have a small inventory. And pvp give me a break that is a freaking joke. It is just plain retarded. The only thing I really liked was cooking lol.
Also WAY to many RP'rs....

    That last comment ("too many RPer's") alone would be enough to make the game WAY different from WoW since the player makeup adds tremendously to the overall feel of the game (it kind of spoils WoW for me, in many ways, that the playerbase tends to be so incredibly juvenille)

     

    I havent played since beta (no time), but if the community has turned out to be RP rich, that might just make it the first MMO-R-P-G that has lived up to its namesake.  Maybe Ill have to make time to play the release :)

    Thanks for your input. Your reaction and rating makes me think about getting Lotro more and more.  If your rating keeps people with the same tastes you have away from the game You have done a great Service to those who enjoy RP and don't want people who break immersion in game.

    I don't make fun of the RP'rs i just said it has to many RP'rs that spam OOC, and every other chat channel... Which is so annoying if they want to RP then they can RP in spatial next to eachother like your suppost to. And not flood the channels with RP.

    actually... beside ooc and advice, all other channels are supposed to be IC. at least on my server. maybe the us servers are different.

    Getting annoyed by rping sounds pretty odd to me. Would you be annoyed by people talking about shooting when playing a shooter? or people talking abotu cars in a driving game? no? so... why you annoyed by people talking about rp on a rpg?

    About the only RP I have seen on the Euro server I play on is endless leet speak - "wot r u duing, m8" - endlessly.

    I wonder if anyone actually speaks english anymore.

    No idea if it is that way on US servers, I hope not.

    It does look a hell of alot like WoW and i do hope wow players stay there, so far the poeople i have met/grouped with have been decent sorts not the so many of the selfish must level fast l33t lot which is much more prevailent in WoW.

    I hardly see any RP on the global chat on Euro servers. Would be nice to see housing added, its still early days for the game so hopefully they will continue to improve as its a good all around game.

    The original poster is 16 years old and a typical WoW player. WoW players like this should keep playing WoW. They add nothing but grief on the LOTRO servers. The OP was also an American, that might have been on the Landroval server (unofficial RP server), which is RP heavy.

    To the OP, you don't like LOTRO, fine...  don't let the door hit you on the way out the door.

    Lord of the ring actually did resemble WoW and it does not seem to have much innovation.  Most NPC's don't speak, the quests feel like endless errands, the LOTR theme is worked in there extremely poorly, and the PvP is allmost exactly like WoW.  It is definately not a game for people who liked EQ1 or anything challenging.  The most annoying thing about it, is that any sounds that managed to make it in the game seem completely fake and the skills are hopelessly fixed  The only good thing about it is the terrain looks nice, there are some good people to meet on it, the communiity is better than in WoW, but that is not enough alone to make me play it when so many better games are comming.

    I am no fan of this game either but I disagree with your reasoning here. We all know that WOW and LOTRO are similar and that is not necessarily a bad thing. Second, player housing is on its way. Third, you start out with a rather large inventory capacity when compared with other online games.

    If those were the primary deal breakers for you, I shudder at the chance that you will find something better.

    I have to agree with Daedalus, those assumptions were very false.  Although the reason we called it simular to WoW was probabley pointing out to it's extreme lack of originality  In most games you expect a slightly differint combat style, charecter drawings ect...  In this one the terrain was better, but the charecters looked like they came from a cartoon, like in WoW and the moves were very disapointing in terms of difficulty.  It really is a grindy, errand running game with very little to keep one going other than a boring PvP setup.

    I give you a 0.0 for your input on this game which = u r retarted please get over this WOW clone crap because it aint and for your information i'm in a Kinship which consist mainly of WOW vets that have nothing but praisal for this game and are glad that they made the switch and also this game is not based on PVP they have monster play to give you the chance of being able to use the bad guys and then can use the monster toon against main toons when ppl are high enough to make it to that area and for the small inventory well it is as big as most mmo's i have played, the players housing is coming in future patches and as for you coming across 2 much RP man this is a MMORPG do you know what that means?

    No one cares about your shitty review. No one here cares about anyone elses shitty reviews, for that matter. Go back to the flaming piece of shit that is Warcraft and troll their forums... you'll fit right in.



    FYI - housing is coming this Fall. Where's your housing in WoW.
