If you don't have anything to say (post), you can always read other posts. (Browse).
If this site, like many others, expected their public to just post and not browse, then we would not be where we are today. This site is not and doesn't plan to be, just a "Forum". Many of our members visit for informative reasons. To see what the latest news is on their favorite title or what contests we are running the current month are just some examples.
Do not think that MMROPG.com is and shall always remain what it is today. This community has plans to become one of the largest if not The Largest Online Gaming Community for not only mmorpgs but other genres aswell.

well you all might know me on AO or you might know me from eq itself, any ways i am Athinia on AO and Mililea Windwalker on eq and you know something, instead of casting votes and complainning that you did not with why don't you all thank your lucky stars taht one day soon we will all be playing this new game that we ahve been waiting so long to come out, yes it would be nice if we all could get into the beta testing, trust me i would love to have gotten in but i am not complaining that i did not get in because i know in time i will be playing right along side you all so be happy and try and get information and pictures from the ones that did get in..

No but at least it looks like your active in the forums when you post something. Anyone can log in just to get another entry for beta and say "Im just browsing". Everyone knows when you walk into a store and they say "can I help you find anything" and you say "Im just browsing" that really means "Im not interested in buying anything".
And besides that if they really ONLY browse how did they win beta? You dont have to login to browse.

When I first started coming to this site all I did was read and browse, it was a LONG time before I even registered, and an even longer time before I made my first post. And look at me now, all Staff and s--t. So don't think that just because someone doesn't post they don't have anything to contribute to the community. Some people just aren't posters, I don't consider myself much of a poster, tho I have started posting more lately, but no where near as much as a lot of members here. I'm more of a reader, I read almost every single post that gets made in these forums. Not because part of my job as Staff is to moderate the forums, but because I like to read, I like to hear what people are saying on different topics. I like to hear other people's points of view.
In no, and I mean absolutely no way should the contests be based on any form of post count. Did you ever stop to think about how flooded these forums will be with bullshit meaningless posts if someone needed a set number of posts to be qualified for a contest? I for one don't want that, we keep a fairly clean and free from garbage posts forum system here, I'd like to see it stay that way.

You totally just proved my point Kunou. Why even register if all you want to do is browse? Oh yeah, to win beta's... I mean cmon seriously, 0 posts wins a beta? If you have 0 posts why are you even registered? You can read all you want without registering. If you register that must mean you want to make a post right? Thats the only thing you cant do without registering, well besides enter contests.
This is a simple thing to understand and its proven to be a loophole. Im not so much mad I didnt win, Im mad because its not a fair system at all. Anone can login here, give a shit less about the site, never come back to it except to enter contests and win betas. Thats like saying I want a lottery ticket, but I dont ever buy one, and somehow I win. Ridiculous.

I also read the news they provide, browse the game list, and use it to find the links to the games web site.
^^We all do, you missed the point again. IF you just want to read, get links, news etc you dont need to register. If you register you either want to post or win beta or both, if you have 0 posts then that must mean your just here to win beta. Wow people just cannot grasp this I guess.

You're the one failing to grasp the concept that if there were ANY form of post requirements to join contests then the forums would become a useless garbage pile of bullshit one line posts in no time. All these people you're complaining about having 0 or few posts would suddenly have like 100 posts or whatever was required to be in the contest. And in the end, you're still in the same boat you're in now, just as many people in the contests, and to boot, we have a forums system no one cares to read because of all the crap.

I didnt ever say they should have a certain number of posts. But Christ at least have 1, at least pretend like you have some interest. No one said post count has to be the determining factor, hell make date joined the factor or something else, IE you have to be registered 1 month before the contest started. Im sure I can come up with something if you really want me to, but I think thats someone elses job.

What does your misfortune in an online contest have to do with EQ2? No offense, but you have this topic and one in The Pub, neither of which is an off-topic forum.

Good point. I enjoy reading posts and posting on only 2 sites, this one and of course EQ2 (which I read more then post on for information). The reason I enjoy this site IS the fact that the posts on the forum usually are entertaining and informative, if they just posted anything to get into the contests it would be less enjoyable as I would have to pick out the entertaining and informative substance.
Again, congrats to all the winners, and thanks MMORPG.com for the opportunity to participate.
OK I give up, people still dont get it. I never said MAKE PEOPLE HAVE HIGH POST COUNTS. I dont know where you all got this from. Make the date registered have to be 1 month prior to the contest starting. That way thousands of people dont just register to win beta and leave. But Im sure no one will read this or take it into consideration. Its a legit point people, and it benefits all of us.

while I came to the same conclusion in my frustration last night -- you have to realize that the site WANTS new members to register. The EQ2 promotion isn't just benefitting you, it benefits mmorpg.com as well. Yes it is a bit unfair to let someone who has never been to the site before register 5 minutes before the drawing and have them win a spot in the beta, but it's business and it's what keeps these random drawings and opportunities going. I've personally browsed the site for about a year and just recently registered. I don't believe entirely that there should be priority but I see your reasoning in wanting to prohibit entry into the contest a month (or however long you stated) before the actual drawing.
Yet it's in the past, congratulations and good luck to the winners in beta, somehow I will be kept posted!
