Today I was looking around for a good MMO to play cause i just quit SRO because it was invested with botters made me feel like i was the only "real" one on the server. But anyway I was looking and I heard people talking about this game called Perfect World that was going CBT(closed beta testing) for America this July that will be open for public(which technically makes it open beta testing). When I checked this game out i was shocked at the gameplay escpecially coming from asian companys. Here are the good things I saw about this game so far:
-f2p, I know I know as soon as most people see this acroynm it mostly spells disaster, but this isn't the case this time.
-WASD, in other words no point and click like most Asian MMos out there.
-Ability to jump,Swim, fight in water, Fly with your OWN wings(ranger class only),Use Mounts, Birds, Lizards, Camels, Etc
-This is what shocked me the most, you can change mostly everything about yourself to make yourself unique, including change color of hair/body, you don't see that in most f2p's.
- 8 Classes. 4 Races, 2 unique classes each
-Honestly I think the graphic quality is one of the best out there for f2p
-Certain races can turn into animals
-Factions, Territorial Wars, Pvp Land,Sea, Air
-*Edit, On the International site it says in total there are over 30 million people playing. In China, Japan, Taiwan, Veitnam, going to Malayasia, Europe, Philippines, America, Australia in early 2008
-More than 5,000 quests and 1,300 instances which makes a total of 6,300 playable quests unique to each race.
This is just what i found out about it so far, might be the game i'm looking for till WAR,Aion,AoC or maybe play this full time.

I've heard of this game, it looks good and i'll enjoy testing it.
Personally I am playing this game (Taiwanese version), and it's pretty fun.

The reason why it doesn't feel like other asian MMOs is because its Chinese; not Korean, Malaysian, or Japanese. There definetly is a difference between people between these 4 countries because of the regionalization of developers. You often get the same developers working on several games which makes games seem the same. As well people are taught within regions which creates a certain predominant style. Also this game had something like 300 developers which is huge. Ontop of this China has some of the best programmers in the world, seconded only to US programmers. Thier main technical college is HUGE. Also unlike US programmers, alot of Chinese programmers get into games. Which is why there is so much gameplay to this game. While most US programmers are contracted by the military, and most game companies usually only get scripters.
Looks like a standard fantasy MMO. Do you have any official website ? I can read traditional chinese.

Sounds interesting. According to the wikipedia entry it should supports both WASD and point and click controls. From the feature list it seems to be a pretty ambitious game with a cash shop.

This is open pvp game tho. Means once you step out of the safe town.. you can get attacked at anytime altho the person who attacked you can get flagged as a murderer which lets them get attacked by anyone and can drop items upon death. You don't drop loot if you are not flagged as "red" (murderer).
Looks cool, especially because its free to play and the graphics/customization is great. That, and its Chinese instead of Korean, and I think the Chinese are trying hard to prove themselves in the mmo arena right now, which is good for the consumers, because the product will be a step up from the typical f2p Asian mmo.
Another thing I forgot to put in there is that the ranger class comes with wings, so you can fly with that class from the start.
Yes, I have been playing the Chinese version of this game for about 4 months now...been dying for the english version to come out. It's a really good game though. There are lots of things that you would never expect for a totally free game. DEFINITLY worth looking into.
FYI.. Perfect World Philipine in your post is going to be Philipine only, they are IP blocking everyone else. The one that will be international is the Malaysian version and will have an English option

And yes, Perfect World PH although it is English, the game is only avaible for people in the Philippines and no where else.
The Malaysian Perfect World English Server will be a new client, and the GMs of Perfect World Malaysia have stated when the English version comes out, they will make a new site for it. The Malaysian English Server of Perfect World will be open to anyone in the world through the Closed Beta phase, Open Beta phase and official release. The terms on how to get in to Close Beta is still up in the air, no final word will be made until the English site for the Perfect World English server is made. As they are still deciding whether to just let people who registered in the Close Beta or hand out keys to a limited amount of people.
There is no exact date to when Malaysia will be releasing their English Client to Perfect World, but it is estimated to be release somewhere this summer. Rumours state that Cubizone will be making some sort of announcement towards the Closed Beta of the English server Perfect World and when it'll be out, on July 14, but this is all just rumours.

Its not the largest budget. It was only around 30 million US, mainly because labor in china costs less. Major Korean publishing/Development houses like Webzen, Gravity, and NCSoft are pouring 50+ million into titles they develop themselves, and giving out 10+ million to games they are publishing or investing in.
No go to Perfectworld http://www.perfectworld.cc/ Theres more than one version, Philipines Perfect World is one version and its in open beta already, then theres Malaysia-English Perfect World coming out this July which is totally english and no IP block.
Im looking forward to this game immensly, it looks fantastic. Cant wait. Thanks for the extra info here.

It looks.... asian.... Well, maybe I as a central european am even farther away culturally from Asia, but I can't stand the style of those games...
When I look out of my window (I see the remnants of a 800 year-old keep there) I've got basically more middle-ages than in those games... No way... Me wants medieval fantasy... peasants, lords, broad-swords, archers and houses with small windows...
Have fun with it, looks nice gameplay-wise...
