Its a nice suggestion, but it would never work, both Julio Torres and SOE have said that they are not bringing back classic servers, nor the pre cu. The Pre Cu was amazing, but its over, been over for a while, and it is not coming back.
Nope. The NGE is better than both pre-CU and CU ( I played both ), so paying for a product that's inferior to what is available now would be dumb.
You're a funny guy! SOE rips awayalmost 2 dozen professions, takes away features, totally screws over crafters, oversimplifies gameplay, removes the ability for a player to make his character very unique via the old Template / Skillpoint System, screws over it's existing playerbase, etc., etc., etc., and it's a better product and experience?
I had been visiting family the past couple days. I logged in with my old character on SWG, a Commando ever since early 2004. I left SWG ages ago but turned the acct. over to my Sister. I decided to take a glimpse when I came home and see if the disaster has been rectified in SWG-land. Barring the Legoland gameplay experience, there were still 2 things that are hilariously true still with the NGE era.
** Animations are still completely inferior, oversimplified, choppy, compared to the Pre-CU and even CU. Before the NGE, when your character attacked something, their facing and aim would adjust to the target's height. If the target was high, you would see your character aim higher. If the target was lower than you, your character would aim down towards it. Simple. The NGE? Summed up like this: Ranged combat. I had my character fire at some Ewoks on a higher slope while equipped with his formerly-trusty T21 from the CU. What I saw was pretty shameful. My trooper still aimed straight and level, fired, and blaster bolts firing upwards at a 30-40 degree angle from a level blaster. This was evident right when I quit at the NGE. To my amusement, it's still the same after more than a year. What makes this even more hilarious that animations were kickass Pre-CU and were refined even more with the CU (esp. Jedi animations). Ranged combat. Fencers. TKM's. Pikemen. Swordsmen. Heavy Weapons (old Consumeable HW's and their cool animations). Each profession and form of combat had very nice, fluid combat animations, especially TKM's. This was already there in-game! The NGE? They stripped it down horribly. It's like watching stick figure animation.
** One of the most damning things... the player population is GONE. Mos Eisley? Maybe 2-3 newbies. Maybe an AFK Entertainer. Bestine? Dead, except for NPC's. Theed? A tad bit better than Mos Eisley. Coronet? Has been dead for years. Gone are the days of a bustling place like Theed, Mos Eisley, Bestine, or even the lagfest of Coronet due to the sheer magnitude of players. Gone are the easy days of getting into groups anywhere with fresh faces you haven't seen yet. Gone are the days of hunting / exploration groups of Dathomir, Yavin IV, Lok, Dantooine. Gone are the days where there were many veterans hanging around 'Eisley helping out newbies to learn the ropes. Gone are the days that Cantinas used to be PACKED with people. Combat players coming in from adventuring, chatting, watching, listening to their favorite Entertainers... yeah, chatting with Entertainers, not looking at a Cantina full of AFK Ents or a Holoband. Gone are the days where characters seeking medical attention at the Medical Center would chat with each other and the Medics / Doctors / Combat Medics while getting relief from their wounds.
Superior product? The Crossword Puzzle from today's newspaper was a superior product.

To be fair, I'm actually glad that the days of sitting in a med center are gone...after the first few months, it was hell trying to find a doctor who would heal you without requiring a 100k credit fee. Maybe it was just Chilastra. I totally agree with what you said about entertainers though. Though I would never be one myself, I greatly enjoyed kicking back and experiencing the best social mechanism of any MMO ever made. I remember being the richest guy on tattooine, because I was a bounty hunter I could always come back from a 20 minute jaunt with 40k credits more than I started out with..I always made a habit of being the best tipper around, and even bought things from the auction for the entertainers on occasion. I ended up getting married to one of the dancers in game, and we were good friends even when she respecced to combat medic...our guild leader crafted a bunch of his and hers furniture for the two of us...When I came back to the game a year ago (just to entertain myself over the boring summer) I still had "Draenor and Lanfear's love bed" in my inventory, that brought back some good memories.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
hey doing something sure does beat sitting around griping about it. unless your so bored with out swg!
I assure you, I'm not happy about and continue to gripe about it every once in a great while, but I'm done playing button mashing MMO games forever.
SOE had their chance. Many of them in fact. But they continuously failed even the most pedestrian of tasks. So once AoC comes out, I'll be done with SOE forever.
Star Wars Galaxies was a great time. But it's dead to me. I moved on a long time ago.

Going from my old school Ahazi experiences, a Doctor Buff costed no more than 15k credits for the best of them. The lines at the Starport did get long at times, that was for sure!
Medical Center Wound Heals from medical oriented players were provided but never fixed in price. Give a few thousand in tips and all was well. Same thing with Fatigue & Mind Wound recovery provided by Entertainers. Some guys though did tip very, very well.
The lines for Doctor Buffs did annoy me back in the day. But I'll take the evils of Pre-CU SWG than the desolate player landscape and stripped down gameplay of the NGE any day of the week.
Anyways, the Pre-NGE gameplay will never come back to SWG. Not even a single Pre-NGE / Pre-CU server. Even if it did, the large community of the old days is long gone, and that can never be replaced. It's too bad.

Yes and 25 - 30 if it will be a rollback , but $OE don't deserve it . Bioware or someone else more ethical Company should buy the Servers and Rollback.

I actually respecced to Entertainer and had the best times of my SWG life playing in a band in the Mos Eisley Cantina and chatting to the people who came in to chill or heal their wounds.
Then my buddy would turn up and we'd sit at a table chatting for a while (anyone remember the bug that made you zoom across the room while still in the sitting position) before going back to our houses in the jundland wastes to get equipped for some hunting.
While I remember fondly all the fun I had pre-CU, and I wistfully long for that same feeling to return, I know it wouldn't. All of my friends from the game are gone, and with that, the magic is gone too.
This is one of those cases where it's true that "you can never go home again." I loved the game, I loved the fun, and I survived the aggravation wrought by SOE and LA, but my Jedi stands in the basement of my guild hall, where I logged her out that very last day, and that's where she will stand forever. There's no going back for me.

Interesting, the game almost a year old when I started playing and a little over a year old when I started playing on Chilastra. I don't know your definition of "after the first few months" because I never paid 100k or more for a buff...and I NEVER paid for a heal...not in the 3 to 4 months I spent on Bria, not in the 7 to 8 months I spent I Chilastra, not in the approx. 9 months I was on Flurry before NGE hit. The max I may have seen them going for was 20-25k but they also went for around 10k and occassionally there were docs and ents that would buff for a tip.
Aside from how much they did or did not charge, it WAS possible to play the game without buffs. During the time I was on Bria I rarely used buffs and I rarely wore armor. The main way I leveled was hunting groups formed out of AH before the CU/NGE killed AH (/sigh remember visiting Bria after the CU hit and having the highest mission I could get be a level 15, being grouped with some noob that didn't care that I wasn't getting xp because he was too busy begging for one of my pets although I was trying to explain to him that he had to be a CH of a certain level to handle the level of pets I had...esp since I had just messed up the kimo I'd gotten for fairly "cheap" back in the days when kimos were still semi-status symbol, hadn't even really wanted one for a pet but had been unable to pass up the price *wonders if the pics of her wookiee posed in the mouth of her kimo still exist on her old computer*).
Hang tuff guys and girls swg pre-cu will make the greatest come back of all time!!!!! from my understanding the emu is allmost done and once again we can enjoy playing the greatest game of all time!!!!
