  • because LOTRO is wow.  Different setting, different classes, same formula.  If I wanted to play wow again, I'd have resubbed to wow.

LOTRO is not WoW, because it has not attracted 8 million uberleet gaming kiddies yet...and that's why I LIKE IT.

  • AquakittyAquakitty Member Posts: 310

Lol, those are some rather limiting options. I didn't like it because it is too easy, slow, and boring.. nothing to do at 50, raids are long and give unexciting loots. For me to keep interest in a game i have to keep wanting to improve my character. There just didn't seem to be anything left once I hit 50.

Though the instances take a lot of time, they are not hard. Time consuming doesn't = hard in my opinion. Just too bland.

    Lotro was...
    Boring..
    "Hi! Go kill these things"
    done
"Hi! Go kill twice as many of the same"

So I don't want to do these idiotic quests?

Well you have to! Because grinding is useless..

    Forced [Insert W/E] sucks.

Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
    It all sucked.

    What i dislike.

    • Chain quests
    • Animations
    • Mount system
    • Auction Hall
    • Classes
    • Itemization
    • Deed/Trait system
    • Eriador
    • Repetitive Quests (masked as grinding)
    • Crafting
    • User Interface
    • and most importantly.....

Turbine's sense of direction and incompetency after the the Evendim update.

    • Because of a Burglar exploit, ALL players were punished (toggled skills were disabled while mounted).
    • Frequency to get dismounted was increased.
    • Screams/Shouts for ALL classes were taken away. (now put back in, last patch)
    • Crafting Icons changed (reported as a placeholder)

Upcoming Book 10 info doesn't look promising either.

Not to mention their ban-happy system.. half my guild got banned by accident, lol

Someone got banned for dragging mobs to an NPC to be killed, no warning.. I don't see that in the EULA.

Again, sorry for messing up the poll.  I hit enter accidentally in one of the fields, thinking it would take me to the next field.  Instead, it published the post, and there isn't an option to edit a poll.

So uh, just list your reason I guess, hehe.

For me I think it was the done-that-been-there feeling.  I beta tested Lorto and played through about 6 different characters.  After a while you have done all the same quests multiple times and the game looses it's fun factor at that time because it's quest system is also what kept me going since I find it more fun to grind quests than just grind on mobs.

I didn't answer the poll as my number one reason wasn't a choice - boring.  I agree with you thatkenguy, it is just the same 'ole - same 'ole with a new skin (and even simplified further.  Turbine certainly crafts a techincally capable product in the sense that the game was in great shape at release, but they have NO sense of soul, no sense of creating a world I can create a charater in.  Just like DDO LotRO is a single player game you expereience with other players - what I mena is that you level and unlock the character THEY designed and made, you don't make your own.  You do what they designed and that is all.  On top of that, the 'doing' is rather unremarkable and actually quite boring and skilless.

In short, Bored of the Rings Online.

Actually, the game is fine.  I don't dislike it at all.

  • InnossInnoss Member Posts: 105

Boring. I went from 15 to 50 in under 2 weeks. Did all the quests which were insanely easy. Was even the 1st GM weaponsmith on the server. Of course I got that in the month I was lvl 15 in open.

I then hit 50, petered around making cash. Did Carn dum and Uru  multiple times. Waiting on the raid update. Raid day came, finished it in the 1st 2 nights. And bored. Weapon and armor choices are boring. Everyone has the exact same. Well anyone who can look at  stats, and knows how the game works. Another words few options on equiptment.

Some people will say, well you shouldnt have rushed to 50. All I can say is, I didnt. I did every quest you have done and will do to hit 50. Every instance. The game is just easy. No real skill involved, and no real time either. The game is linear. I can say honestly, I even read my quests before doing them.

    Inno.

Edit: btw im not posting to "brag" or anything. I was just saying why I thought it was boring. I consider myself a decent player but by no means the best.

it's so much more to me as the reason why LoTRO sucks.

It's a game made for idiots...or it feels that way when you play it.  It's a Chutes and Ladders of MMOs...they hold your hand through everything and it's ridicoulsy easy.

    No challenge at all.

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

It is fine little mmo with spectacular graphic , quite fun for some time until AOC

  • ladyattisladyattis Member Posts: 1,273

I like the consistency to the lore, but anymore I'm just not logging in to play. Right now I'm debating whether to unsub or wait for chapter 10. As for one of the posters who some how 'hates' Eriador, dude, you probably would hate the lands past the Misty Mountains. Plus, you seem to have a lack of grasp that the tale starts in Eriador. :-P And we need more of it before we even consider Rohan, Gondor, and Mirkwood (We don't even have the South Farthling yet!).

You are correct.  It has nothing to it.  It should be one of those free MMOs if you ask me.

  • Kaynos1972Kaynos1972 Member Posts: 2,316

Too few classes and they are all boring to play for me.

  • EridanixEridanix Member Posts: 426

It should be a world of adventure and risk, an open world where you can travel wherever you want, not going by the yellow road all the time.

I voted the PvP sucks. Coz there is no PvP at all: what a wild, old, grim world is that? bleh

It is a question of fangs.

Maybe not 8 mil, but it apparently got at least one.

LOTRO is another WoW with perhaps more loyal core fanbase due to books & movies.  A casual-friendly MMO put together with popular name in the entertaiment business (Warcraft, lol) with nothing really new to offer then maybe a good opportunity to get into the genre. No wonder majority of the WoW-players dislike it.

  • Gules_AspenGules_Aspen Member Posts: 273

    1. Boring as hell.

    2. Easier than any other game on the market.

    3. Horrible, ugly models and animations.

    4. No choices, no freedom, no variety.

    5. Wussy, sickening, whiny-assed pitiful Elves.

    6. Complete disregard for the important parts of the lore they claim to follow so closely.

    7. It's just plain horrible.

I agree with what he said. Lotro is bland, there is nothing to do at level 50.

I know where the main characters start.  I'm just kind of disappointed that we have to follow them in a linear story.

I would have rather started in multiple zones like Rohan, Gondor, Mordor, Mirkwood, etc.  Turbine might of been restricted by Tolkien Enterprises though, so i can't really blame them.

  • Actually I don't dislike it.

But I don't LIKE it either.

It is kind of like .. bleh, or why bother.

My only regret is spending the $50+ one month sub fee, that would have bought a lot of pizza.

But then I would end up like Michael Moore, all 300 pounds overweight and blubbery and stuff.

Completely uneducated dislike, based on the fact that Turbine is the developer.
