Originally posted by machiavelli I like the art design in TCoS but to tell you the truth the "feet" of Daevis are just out of proportion compared to the rest of their bodies. But i agree with the banning because you were just disrespectfull. I don't understand people like you that always try to find something to complain about and complaining isn't even the worst part. These guys are trying something new and you act like a jerk. People like you that thinks they are better should develop their own game. This game is still far from release so maybe they will come around and change their "feet"and if they don't, i think that Daevis should run faster than humans cause daevis legs are build to run fast and leap through the air .
From a design/modeling perspective, I can see why they went the direction they did with the feet and lower legs. It's basically a deformed cylinder, probably extruded from the cylinder that was used to create the thighs. Because they took that approach, it lowers the overall number of polygons that have to be rendered for the character model.
Rather than making the lower leg taper more, which would have resulted in the need to create detailed feet with articulated toes (which would have increased the polygon count) they just extruded the calf/foot straight down.
That also saves them from having to add an extra joint at the model's ankle and additional animations for running that would also require additional rendering.
I'm not saying it's a good approach from a purely aesthetic viewpoint; I'm just saying I see why they went that direction. Most of their models have good texturing but are pretty rudimentary. That cuts down on rendering overhead and that translates to performance gains, which can be good if you need that additional performance for sprite / burst animations (spell effects, etc.) or for world models, textures, atmospheric effects, etc.
Other than that, I have to say that I while I agree the lower legs aren't pretty, I like the overall model concept of the Daevi and the race concept.

Hmm, you said you "basically" told them. What exactly does "basically" mean?
well anyways if they do ever ban you permanently form the forums, its an easy fix, just reset your IP address and your set. Only thing is that if they in fact do ban you permanently, you will have to create a new forum account.
The pictures, they look interesting, the head helmet part I am not thrilled about but the rest of the body looks good.
He did not get banned for his opinion, he got banned for being imature and cussing it seems to me

Sums it up pretty good! And yes, they are very Ugly to comment on your point of the race!

Well, if the appearance of the Daevi is going to be the subject of discussion, you will notice that the textures on those feet of the original models were not quite finished. They looked pale, big and seem to lack detail. My guess is that it was still work in progress, but they wanted to show them as soon as possible. No doubt they will improve on the model and texture.
You will also notice that they only showed two daevi models, a man and a woman (atlethic builds?), while for humans there are a thin, normal, atlethic and fat model available, which makes me believe that they are indeed still working on the daevi models. Oh, and I have not seen any daevi children yet, while there are human children.
Those who dislike the models will probably not play them, but I also want to see how they move before making a decision, assuming that they will improve on the details. Also different armour sets will be available for humans and daevi, that may influence the way they look too.
First off, you're entitled to your opinion, even if it's wrong.
how can an opinion be wrong? because you disagree? if the OP got banned for stating his opinion on their forums that is BS, just my opinion of course...hope i am not wrong, LOL
Its not so much that they are ugly per se, but more so look outright foolish. I'll have to agree with the OP,they dont look bad ass, they just look BAD.

It was my opinion that his opinion was wrong.
I highly doubt he got banned for his opinion, but for the way he expressed it.

If u dont like the legs then dont play the race, and hating their legs is a stupid reason for saying the race sucks and its ruinning the game.
I hate when people complain about something so trivial and expect it to be removed because they dont like it.
I for one think its kinda cool, kinda like a centaur(half human half horse) or griffin(half lion half eagle) instead its half human half goat thing
This thread made me laugh, but yea, I have to agree with the OP, those things are extraordinarily ugly

Maybe they are intended to be ugly, like dwarfves and gnomes ... at least they show creativity and made their own ugly race !
Rice, you were not banned for voicing your opinion, just for the obnoxious way you stated it.
