this same thread was started last week and had many replies.

I shouldn't bump it but since the last one turned into an argument let me try to get this one on track right at the start.

OP, post and tell us what you are looking for.  Best in terms of what?  Best to currently start?  Best ever made even if it is now defunct?  Best PvP?  Best PvE adventuring?  Best sandbox?  Most fun for a short while?   Most likely to make you stay for  a long time?

What do you mean by best?

I tried Eve.  I tried LotR.  I tried EQ 2.  I tried EQ 1.  I tried WoW.  I tried Vanguard.  I tried others.

Imho, EQ 2 is easily the best.  If you like sci fi games, imho, SWG is the best.

Boycott EA Games. RIP Sim City.

VANGUARD - Even though it's buggy and not finished- I absolutely love it. I play too many hours a day.  If they continue to pour money into it will be golden. I've played EQ, EQ 2 and Wow and they don't hold my attention like vanguard.

Currently, I'd say apples are the best, but if you're into PvP, I'd suggest oranges.

your arguement is so persuasive, so filled with knowledge and insight. You back up your argument very articulately, with suggestions of improvements and raising examples to glorify your position....oh wait, you didn't

And if you're looking for sci-fi, go with square watermelons.

Considering the fact that 70% of the people on these forums are probably fanboys, you would have a hard time getting a straight answer. Of course "best" is also pretty much a matter of opinion although it can be given to one game if it were voted on by a large group of players who all have extensively played every single MMOG. Of course I myself have only played about 4 extensively so I couldn't tell you because there may be a game out there that would completely blow me away.

In the end, logic and reason always beat out fanboys.

The 'best' MMOG? They all cover so wide a range now. I would have to say the best I ever played was UO. It was grand in its time and is still playable on the freeshards.

WoW was decent for a while (even you haters must admit) but it turned in my stomach like milk on a 5k run.

I have played almost every single MMOG from Jumpgate to EQ to M59 and I have settled on two right now. Eve and Wurm Online.

Eve is a massive, well done, highly refined epically massive space opera of a PvP game.

Wurm online is an in the dirt, no holds barred, deformable terrain, slugfest with the elements, crafts and the other Kingdom.

With those two MMOGs i cover both my urges. Combine those two with 2142 and CS:S and you get highly engrossing nights of fun.
