Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

I was prepared to be bored...but...

I discovered the critics  who say it is a great game are way accurate! There are different play styles in MMO games and sword of the new world has several styles. The best part is the amazing intensity level you can easily achieve. The pace can be almost asleep

or you can easily push the envelope and experience a pace like you do in the best game parties, barely alive and using skills. If you don't have skills you will be forced to plug along and probably quit. This game is very different from others in some ways and similar also. It is NOT a simple point and click at all but is complex and Fun. This is not the starter game for those new to gaming, iMHO!  I am an experienced gamer and the quests and hunts are really fun for me. Sure I die a few times but if you play the game to the Max you will get exellent XP so it is no big deal. This game makes last chaos , ragnarok and pristontale look like poor relations and I think I may not go back to EQ 2 anytime soon. I am sure not everyone can handle this game and I am positive that there is simply no way to decide how fun it is by level 5...it took me to lvl 10 and I was certain the game was my new favorite. I will write a review soon and show the awesome parts of this game as well as a few things that are annoying. This game can be played at lightning speed if you can take it   ! Woooot!

... until you get to about 30 and realize you can alt-tab out and browse the internet while your toons grind away without you.

I was excited about this game, but it's just a poor mix of DS2 and Lineage 2.

Like most things in life, this game is what you make of it.

I usually squad with my clan and raid high zones.  We had a KoS list that was fun... hunting people down and kiling them.  You 'can' sit and do nothing, but that would be your loss.

I played the game myself for only a week. Really wished I would of had another week to level a little more and get a better feel for the game and what it has to offer at the higher levels. I did level to 21. It went pretty fast and didnt seem like a grind, which was nice. I will say that the game while leveling is fast paced and which the constant movement makes you forget your grinding out levels. In my 21 levels the game seemed way to easy to level. My class make up was a Fighter/Musketeer/Scout. As the last poster said, you could alt tab and your toons could grind for you. I think thats the main thing that leads me to believe this wasnt the game for me. I would ( and other toons I saw did this as well ) run into a room and grab 20+ mobs and with my scout in heal mode go grab a pepsi come back and Control-Shift ( collect loot ). There was some adjustment the first 1-7 levels to get a feel for the classes and realize that I could do this.

I didnt get into the PvP or the Faction/Quests part of the game. I dont think the factions were available at the time anyway, so i cant remark about those.

Id will say it was fun while it lasted. I wished I had a few more weeks to fool around with it but dont want to plunk down the money to play it full time. Nice grahpics, fast game action but not my cup of tea.

Like Boomer said, it you come with a negative attitude, and don't actually play the game for what it's worth, you didn't really want to even play to begin with, so you're just setting yourself up to hate the game.

However if you come expecting it to be fun, and play it seriously, it's a kick ass game, I've never actually liked grinding in a game, but for some reason I can sit for hours a day just killing mobs with my Musk/Ele/Sct combo and it never gets old, the random bosses in most areas just add to the fun aswell.

The only thing I don't really like though is the lack of equipment at the a lower level, I haven't gotten into crafting to see if it's any good, but pre-36 the weapons could use some better upgrades. other than that this game is one I can see myself playing for a long time (Or atleast until AoC! :>)

Hello.  I spent most of yesterday playing this game.   It was an interesting experience but I did enjoy myself.

At first, it was a bit cumbersome as controlling the game is way different than most of the MMORPGS I've played.  having my guys stay with me proved to be quite a bit of a challenge until I found group-mode and the whistle.

The graphics are pretty good, music is good, and characters seem ok with their abilities(except bard for my scout :/ ).  While trying to get used to my characters it was hard healing the others while bashing away with my knife until I discovered medic stance.  After I got used to this, I was able to let the scout fight and then quickly take off the knife when things got hairy while I controlled my other two fighters.  After most of the day had passed, I was finally able to have her pretty much heal the way she's supposed to and that's with clicking the icon and then the person's position.  Execute is fun on the scout but wow, it costs a lot.  Watching Jack do his weapon move is hilarious and watching my elementalists' Ice Fog is hilarious.

For a free game, I enjoyed myself.  I want to get my friends in and let them experience the free parts first before I decide on paying for an account.  Besides, I still need to test Ramiro, a fighter, and a Wizard.

Yeah you can alt tab in an easy zone, or you can go and fight level 35 monsters and give yourself a panic attack.

There are several ways to play this game.

The easy way is fighting easy monsters and just takes time.

The hard way is fighting hard monsters and just barely surviving for sick exp and takes less time... but you can die a bit more.

Its all how you want to play, slow and steady with no risk and boring or fast paced crazy game play that keeps you on your toes Your choice.

The starter areas are what they should be.. easy and yes you can let your Avatars lvl AFK..  but once you are past the king's garden or in any of the dungons what has the boss spawns, your team will die... quickly.

Then it get real fun trying to find a save corner to regroup and heal.

The game is fantastic fun with a squad which is a necessity later on, unless you want to only fight your own lvl.

Find a guild, get into the pvp... thats the core of the game.
