Yar Maties and shiver me timbers as Carolyn Koh files this report from E3 on Flying Lab Software's Pirates of the Burning Sea.
There were more people crowded around the Pirates of the Burning Sea (PotBS) station both in SoE's appointment hotel area and the station in Barker Hanger than any of their other games. That being that case, I stood back and spent some quality time with Jess Lebow, Content Director & CEO Russ Williams rather than get some hands-on play with five other people breathing down my neck. We talked of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. I am not being cryptic, but that describes of how our conversation jumped around, topics segueing to others sometimes, and sometimes jumping around as the demo on the screen changed.
Pirates of the Burning Sea looked fine. The developers were especially proud to show how well the UI had been tweaked and polished. The graphical wind direction representation on screen as well as the sectional circle around the ship allows the player to take in all of the information he needs right there in the middle of the screen.

Such high hopes for this game - though it's not exactly what I wanted it should be SO refreshing. Wish I were in beta...
BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
Looking promising! Nice info!
why is fall so far away... /twitch
awesome update though, this is definitely going to be an awesome game
?played: Nearly everything.
?waiting: *Darkfall*, Hero''s Journey
Sounds like this game was getting some attention at E3. I'll certain be watching for it's release to see how that goes.
Seems like they are doing their job and doing it good. So much polish on an mmo is great. I also want to know why is fall so far away?

Curt teh Juggler: our graduation ceremony was today, and right when some gamer nerd got his diploma, someone in the audience played the zelda "get item" music and he did the zelda spin-hold-out-item stance
Curt teh Juggler: it was quite possibly the most amazing thing ever.
It's a lot of info but I think it explains pretty well hehe just jokin, I know what you mean. Waiting sucks but you know it's worth it.
BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
does look and sound so much fun, I for one am glad they are not worrying about the publishing and are spending their time on polishing
yep looks awesome imo. I just hope they can catch that pirate feel. I've been working hard to get my friends hooked on this, and it's paying off haha
I have been waiting for this game for 3 years or more. Finally!
Very nice write-up!
I think this game will be awesome, just what I have been looking for!
Cheers.
Yeah, never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually starting to get more excited about this game than AoC.
Looks like this games heading in the right direction. Can't wait to try it.
If its even half decent and half polished it will out do most launches. The idea of 65 ships brings back memories of Privateer etc. Albeit on the ocean. Even so I miss a good game where you can work towards larger vessels etc. Plus the lack of dwarves, elves and orcs will be fully welcome. This game has strangely gained my attention which surprises even me.
Not so long ago I was laughing about this game. Yet, in my never ending quest for innovation (and after watching Pirates of the Carabean 2) I read some info on this one and I gotta say - I'm really excited!
I recently downloaded Voyage Century Online and so far I'm having a blast. Its so different from the typical MMO's where you just grind your char to max lv and then farm/raid/pvp for top equipment. If Pirates of the Burning Sea is like an extended version of VCO with better graphics and no lags, then they have my subscription
