Supposedly 9 million play this game and this game is not even ranked in the top 10 rated MMO's ? Can someone expalin this ? Out of 9 million I would almost be certain that WOW players would know about this site. Is there another site that actually gives ratings or is this just the only one that does ?
I mean, they could have gained 2mil subs in china 'recently'... and lost about 1.5mil elsewhere. I know its not very likely, but there could be millions of cancelled subs and disappointed players. I havent seen any numbers on that (coz I dont look for em coz I'm not that interested really) but its just a thought
Mobs that emote at random where there gonna one shot you and your ass better not be there. Mobs that can only be damaged by certain types of weapons, having to keep the adds and the main boss within 5% of each other or they get super powered. Those where fun.
Um. WoW has raids like that, exactly like that in fact. I wish people who talked about this game actually played the parts they were criticizing.
I do agree that EQ1 has very good raids though, probably better than WoW's to be quite honest - but not by a massive amount. I was in a end-game guild for a few years in EQ1 and I know what a good raid is, and WoW has some great ones.
I've been raiding for about 4.5 years and the the C'Thun encouter is in my opinion the best designed raid boss in any game. The perfect balance between execution, balance, difficulty and fun anyone could ever wish for. A lot of the ideas come from EQ1, but then again that's to be expeced since it's being led by an EQ1 vet himself. Raiding is definatly not one of WoW's problems.
Reason why it's not on top of ratings is because it's not considered hardcore enough for the people who frequent this site. And having a 8.2 rating on a site in which the majority of players "hate" it isn't that bad.
Also I have to dissagree with the people saying that WoW killed the genre due to developers wanting to follow it's style so they make more money. Before WoW came along the MMO scene was pretty bland, with the excepting of SWG there was very little worth playing. If WoW hadn't been released then we'd only have EQ2 as the only game worth playing (*shivers*). Developers know that if they try to compete with WoW then they will fail. If you look at upcoming releases you can see games trying to distinguish themselfs from WoW, ie WAR & AoC focus on pvp and so on. In other words they have to have new and fresh ideas in order to succed. Saying that competion hurts new ideas is simply not true.
One thing you can expect to happen when those games release is that they will be polished and not in a beta state when they release ala EQ2 and Vanguard. If they don't then they will suffer and will be very hard to recover from. And that is WoWs true legacy to the MMO world. Competition is never a bad thing.
WoW didn't deserve the hype that it got or the subscribed players it had... since they're leaving now, BC sucks haha. the game is a carbon copy of about 20 other mmo's out there and has the worst customer support ever, believe me... last night when i was trying to get banned i told a GM to go f&*^ himself and nothing happened to me, this was after about 30 minutes of trolling in the trade channel... the game is good for the first 40 lvls or so, then it gets rly repetetive. I had a lvl 65 and got bored and fed up with the game.
I noticed that World of Warcraft isn't on the top mmo's list for this site... I find that pretty funny.... It seems that the "underground" RPG fans HATE wow with a passion. The hardcore EQ boys and girls... the Hardcore D&D fans... I guess the point of this post is to ask, why so much hate. Sure some don't like it... thats fine. But the fact that it has the most active accounts and players EVER for an MMO and the fact that it brought the whole MMORPG idea to mainstream gaming.... I will agree or say one thing... I think WoW helped to KILL the quality of mmo's these days. No one has the money or funding to produce something as "grand" as blizzard has. So everything looks cheap and clunky when compared
Ive been coming to this site for years, never post to much but still read the forums. I can remember when WoW was at the top of the list for a LONG time. EQ2 was hated then. Everybody loved WoW at first, then got tired of it I guess. I personally love WoW and play it as my only MMORPG.
okay i agree with the person above me i mean why pay for a game you hate do what i did the day after i got the burning crusade and found it to be a nice drink coaster quit.and the reason why its not on the top mmo list is prolly because people got tired of doin Raids every two minutes.
ha WoW is certainly not THE best MMO if it added more soloing for people who don't like raiding or grouping every level then sure it might just be good enough but EQ2 is the only one i've found so far that offers that for players.Solo play all the way through the game, sure there is grouping and raiding but you don't HAVE to.In WoW you HAVE to if you want that niffty armor or next level.or hey there's always the gold sellers blizzard is havin trouble with.If WoW could fix those problems and add better more interesting content then sure I'll play it again, untill then i'm not even thinkin about goin back.Right now I'm fine with EQ2....Here's my WoW review:
Graphics-7/10
Gameplay-6/10
Community-2/10
Sound-9/10
Customer Service- 8/10
C'mon Blizzard what happened?Diablo,Starcraft,Warcraft all great games but to me you utterly FAILED with WoW.
I agree. No clue why WoW isn't top, but LOTRO, EQ2, city of heroes and villians aare.
EQ2- top game....I hated it. I got the trial and din't bother getting past the first 5 levels due to complete lack of interest.
City of heroes- Character creation was great, but gameplay was laughable.
LOTRO- I LOVE the game, but if I didn't love LOTR than I probably would get bored.
Few common problems people complain about WoW:
Solo play sucks- Yes, it does. They do have nice solo quests, but the good gear comes from difficult team-work missions and PvP like they should. Want good solo play? Go play Tetris.
Community- It's an online world. There's going to be friends on there and ass holes. There is also an ignore feature. Because the game is so popular, there are more than just the regular MMO people on there. Bringin' in all sorts of different types of personalities. Instead of complaining about the community, try fitting in with the community and making friends. Not everyone is nice, that's a life fact. bitch.lol
Graphics- are mediocre, yes.
Bad storyline- So what?
I love the game. Say what you want, but this game has more players than all the games on the top list put together. This site's ratings suck.

voting on this site is a joke. accept this and move on.
I prefer the term FUBAR, but "a joke" is acceptable I guess.
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...
I have an easy fix... go vote for WoW.
does anyone know the turnover of WoW subs?

yes WoW is a great game (one of the best) but there are better games out there. EQ2 should not be top of the list.
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

WoW is a failure? The most successful MMO of all time?
Silly comments like that do wonders for your credibility.
