Perfect World: Description

FarseenFarseen Member UncommonPosts: 344

Hey guys,

I've been reading up on Perfect World a bit recently, and it seems very unique.

I'm wondering if you guys could give me a better idea as to what it's like. I'll ask a few questions and if you know the answer, I'd appreciate the response! Thanks.

1. I read up on the races, but they are very vague. Human, Beastkind, Wingkind? I believe, something like that. Are those the three races in general? Do all beastkind look the same, or do you further your customization upon character creation with types of beast heads and furs and what not. (as you can tell, I'm a big fan of fantasy characters)

2. Wing Kind.....seeriously flying characters? Doesn't that give a slight advantage...haha. Someone explain the flying system please, heh.

3. Classes. Are classes assigned through your race choice? What are they? And how do the skills develop....do you purchase certain skills like Anarchy Online, and therefore thats how your character is unique?

4. Are there levels?

5. Does the game run smooth? I'm going to search for gameplay vids now, just curious in the mean time.

6. What is gameplay combat like? Can someone relate it to an existing game....preferably from the list in my signature.

I think thats all. OH- mount sound friggin awesome. I haven't seen 2 person mounts since SWG. Badasss.

Hit me back guys!

    1. yes 3 races in general..  TONS of customization

    2. They start by flying yes, but not a big advantage (deal half damage etc..)  At start you run/fly same speed.

    3.Classes

    Human (warrior, mage)

    Wings (Archer, Healer)

Beast (Summoner (female) captures pets, not played the male beast so not sure what type of skills it gets)

Not going into skill lists but they fall along those "roles" mentioned.  skills increase per lvl and some skills get learned once certain other skills have been learned/maxed out..etc.

    4. Yes

    5. Runs fine..  little lag from East Coast USA (second or two), but I have played games where lag is far worse

    6. In my opinon it falls somewhere between Lineage2 (gameplay/ PVP/ world)  and Starwars Galaxies (customization features and Player Housing)

Don't know about Vista, but do know for a Free2Play game this one is staying on my system.

Wow that sounds like an intense game.

I really want to play it. Free to download and play. Community cool? Are US servers mixed with Asia ? Are there lots of mounts? I know these are a lot of questions but you don't have to answer, i'm just curious.

    Thanks man!

    Hey how fast level up?

    Hope its not grindfest.

No US servers(yet) - Im playing on the Maylasian Chinese with English Patch wating like everyone for the Offical English Maylasian server to be released.  Yea appears to be some pretty good selection of mounts from what I have seen. (I think most are cash shop items).

Typical grind - I'm casual but manage to get 15-20 level on each toon I tried (again waiting on English server so I havent dumped a lot of effort into any of these toons since I plan to change servers).  Hard to break down my play time.. but for a lvl 20 toon it was less then 24 hours I think, or close to it. (again I spread this time out over 4-5 days). It has been a good time killer for me.

The classes are human warrior, human mage, flying archer, flying priest, beast hunter, beast warrior. Those are the things you can play. Beastkind just looks like animal head on human body which i find as weird as hell. Beastkind has the most limited customization but still has a lot of things you can change about it's features. As a beastkind, you can play as a panda, wolf, tiger, lion, but these are all just skins, all the skills are the same.
    2. Wing Kind.....seeriously flying characters? Doesn't that give a slight advantage...haha. Someone explain the flying system please, heh.
All classes are able to fly at level 30, by the use of mounts, and there is no pvp until level 30, except for duels. Don't worry though, getting to level 30 isn't really hard, it can be done in 2 weeks by a casual player if you do quests. Contrary to what other people said, there is little grind if you bother to do quests. But the 100% english patch is not really very good and you'll find it hard to do quests while using it. Just wait for the official version to come out. The "slight advantage" isn't really a advantage, as there is no pvp until level 30, and in pve, any monsters that are being hit and cannot fight back will have crazy hp regeneration. Flying is wasd, space to go up, and v  to go down. There are also flying mobs, pretty much mobs of all types, so don't think that you can fly anywhere at level 1. Oh yes, and a wingkind's physical damage like arrows are halved when the opponent comes within a certain range.

    3. Classes. Are classes assigned through your race choice? What are they? And how do the skills develop....do you purchase certain skills like Anarchy Online, and therefore thats how your character is unique?
The only truly disappointing part of the game is character animation, models, and classes. Classes are assigned through race choice, see my response to question 1.  Quests are mandatory in this game, as when you quest, you kind of earn reputation, called qi I believe. All higher level skills require you to spend money and a certain amount of qi to get them. Along with that, there is stat distribution, with constitution, dexterity, strength, and intelligence.
    4. Are there levels? This one's kinda obvious, yes.
    5. Does the game run smooth? I'm going to search for gameplay vids now, just curious in the mean time.
Game play will be some of the best you've ever seen in a free to play game,  with lots of quests and stuff. In turns of eyecandy, I'm sorry to say that this game doesn't have a lot of it, just a normal 3d game, beautiful scenery though.  As for game mechanics, flipping is the only thing that isn't really mandatory, as there are jump quests and such. But i'm not complaining, when the malaysian english version comes out, I'm sure I will spend a few hours jumping off cliffs and playing with the flip button. :D
    6. What is gameplay combat like? Can someone relate it to an existing game....preferably from the list in my signature.
Gameplay combat is as always, exciting, with instances and such. Can be related to WoW, with a similiar interface, the only diffrence is gameplay mechanics, again, some controls seem to be put there just for the heck of it. Like you cannot run and attack at the same time. This is the only place where the game lacks, in PvE combat. PvP is a diffrent story, however. Warring guilds can take control of the 32 regions of the land, and they have to defend it from other guilds. Once a region belongs to a guild, they can fortify it with catapults. In a recent chinese patch, they added monster invasions, where guilds also have to fight monsters that want to control the territories. Don't forget that this can all happen on 3 dimensions, with any character above level 30 able to fly. Guilds can literally build floating cities. Pretty epic.
This game will run on vista, here is a guide to make it work on vista when the game finally comes out:

But you won't need it now, as this guide is for the chinese version that some people are playing on, just wait for the official english version.
This game will kick ass, as it's f2p. Any more questions? Visit:
