I suggest EQ 2 on a populated server for that experience.

You will experience the old zones but updated, enhanced, and with more content.  Yes.  Different.  But the EQ 1 feel is alive and well.

None of the servers have "lots of low levels" anymore. The old zones are usually pretty empty. The EQ feel is still there, and still good, but unless you can convince some of your friends to start over with you, it will be very lonely for you as a low level in the old zones. You can play a soloable character like a druid or necro in the old zones, that's what I do, but you won't find anyone who wants to camp Orc 1 with you if that's what you have in mind.

yeah actually i had that in mind ... camping orc camp 1 .. or 2 with groups ... oh well !!

when are they going to come up with an MMO that gives you the same feeling as EQ1 !!! i really dont know what was different between EQ1 and the other MMOs out now ! plus i played EQ2 and its by far worst than EQ1 !! eq2 is dull and gloomy .. swords look like a piece of clay .. armors are rotten and doesnt shine !! its sooo realistic that it makes me wana puke .. eq2 wasnt for me .. i know some of you guys liked eq2 .. but not me !!

oh well then i guess i cant get back to eq1 anymore and have to wait for a game that will give me the same feeling that i had 7 or 8 years back when i 1st played eq1 ...

thanks all for your response !

I suggest you update your computer if you think the graphics are so bad in EQ2. The details on all the armor, weapons, etc on a good computer is amazing. My Oger SK has this big huge shield and the details on it are amazing, and its a low level shield, looks like it has been beaten by something huge in a rain storm and left to rust for a while

    Playing EQ2
Quit - LotRO, EQ, EQOA, EvE, FFXI, DAoC, TitD, AO, AC1, AC2, AA, CoH, CoV, D&L, DS, DDO, EA, GW, HZ, IW, L1, L2, M59, UO, MoM, MoUL, N2, RS, RO, RoE, RYL, SB, SO, SWG, MxO, UO, VSoH, WoW

thats exact.y my point !! every item looks like its beatin up and doesnt shine !! i mean yuo mean some shiny armor just to show off !! my comp is pretty good .. i put most of the options on max while playing eq2 and vanguard .. i just dont like the fact that everything looks like clay .. beatin up .. agreed on the details !! details are great but should be a bit shiny !!

the whole armor looks like its beatin up .. i had a SK and it was level 45 when i left the game .. i played the beta and i started playing the game at launch reached 45 and got bored to death .. so dull .. couldnt find a single zone that looks liek a fantasy world .. see for example EQ1 fantasy world inho is faydark !! the music the place it self ... thre is also one zone in WoW thats makes you feel your in a fantasy world i dont remember the name though .. its north of the barrens ..

back to our point !!   you might enjoy playing eq2 .. but not for me .. i just hope they redo eq1 hehehe

    I feel your pain.

I very much miss the EQ experience and would love for a new game to come out that really really reminds me of EQ.

I tried to go back and play EQ. My original server was one of the more populated ones and there were very few low level characters in any of the zones around Freeport. Most days i had the beach in Oasis (Which isnt Oasis anymore) to myself. The few low levels that i did see were all tweeked out and soloing.

I ended up giving it up again. The game is still nice, and i still have friends (and a guild) there but  it was not the same.

If you can find a group of people to go back with you it might be nice but if not pick a solo class because you will be alone most of the time.

ah being alone is no fun .. im better of not playing than playing alone !! i cant stand being alone in every zone !!!when i quit eq ... ec, wc, oasis, nro, sro, freeport used to be PACT ,,, imagine me going back now .. i dont think i will be happy hehe !!

do you think there will ever be a game with the same rules as the old eq1?

was eq ur first MMO? if it was then u will never get that feeling again. To me, my best MMo days were in eq, but that was my first MMO, it was so new to me, and the experiences i had in it are nothing i have ever experienced in a new MMO. i currently play EQ2, and i enjoy it, but i will never feel the same way about another MMO, including EQ2, as i did in EQ1. this is of course my opinion on the subject, u may feel differently.

yeah eq1 was my 1st MMO, and yes i agree with you by saying playing the 1st MMO has a different feeling .. but still they can come up with a game where the rules are the same as eq1 .. i mean very open ... you can KS you can farm .. you can do anythign you want .. i think eq1 gave you the option to do anything .. for gods sakes you were able to corpse camp .. and if you get reported the GMs come and warn yuo .. that was awesome specially when you corpse camp the guy who corpse camped yours for hours !! and yoru with friends ..

the fact that you were able to do almost anything in EQ1 gave me a very good feeling

Actually i dont think that we will see another game like EQ come about (Im sure some will cheer about that). Whether you like WoW or you do not like WoW it definitely changed the industry. MMOs are looking for max appeal now and rulesets like EQ had will not get you the gigantic numbers that companies want now. People see old EQ as too much of a time sink and too hardcore, although i dont agree because i was never more then a casual player and i loved it.

Vanguard was trying to do it i think but they began to cave a bit at the end. And since it turned out as it did it didnt help the case for EQesque games.

And while the "first kiss" theory does have some merit i dont think that the fact that i played EQ as my first mmo means i can never find one that makes me feel the same way. "First kiss" theory only really works if your first game was really good. If my first game was Horizons im pretty sure this wouldnt be the case.

While i too would buy upon release a new EQ with updated graphics and a few small upgrades learned from some of the newer games i dont need EQ again. I need a game that pulls me in like EQ did. EQ gave me 4.5 years of good times, i never made it longer then 2 months with any other game. And  sadly i got to a higher lever in those couple months on some games then i did in 3.5 years of EQ. There was just so much to do and replayability was awesome. I alwasy had 3-4 alts going and never felt like i was just doing the same thing that i did before.
