Any Xbox Hope?

JupstoJupsto Member UncommonPosts: 2,075

It seems mythic still haven't made a decission on whether to port this game to the xbox 360. They have been "toying with the idea" for some time if you ask me. I'm waiting for a good mmorpg to come to this awesome console (my* PC is dead), and AoC has been delayed and the 360 version will be a very long wait. This game is scheduled for Q1 2008, but mythic still have not said they are making it for 360, but have not said they aren't making it for 360. Is my WAR info wrong? What do you reckon, is there hope this will come to xbox before AoC or at all?

I mean those were writen in may 2006, thats a WHILE ago. I know they are old, thats my point - why haven't mythic said anything since?

http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/objects/827/827517.html

Many sites have it listed in their xbox 360 section and seemed to be convinced it'll come to 360 aswell. Why?

They said they just focusing on the PC version for now. Maybe if the game is successful on the PC it will come to the 360.

    I hope it doesn't.

It would really put me off.

WAR is coming, are you prepared?

At the moment they aren't even creating a MAC Version, so I guess that would come first before a XBOX Version.

IF it should release sometime, it'll surely be one year or later after the PC Release, but since the Servers will be seperated anyway *shrug* I can't care less.

virtually no games do a mac version, macs suck at games. I think wow is the only mmo you can get on mac. anyhow thanks for info. if it comes on a year later than pc release - then AoC will be out on 360 already so I really wouldn't care.

What the hell are you talking about? How is the PC dead?

First and foremost,The PC wolrd is better now than it has ever been. Tomorrow will be even better.
Consoles act in the same regard, but 5 yrs apart. Consoles can't keep pace with the PC world.
Consoles sell to a few million households. PC's sell to the same households and tens of millions more. PC's are getting cheaper while console prices are the highest they have ever been. (MAC's sell alot too, but pc's obviously sell more)

FPS with a controller? Halo was cool for a console shooter, but c'mon.

I'm not trying to debate which is better. Just trying to understand why someone would say something like "PC is Dead". What? Are you reading this site on XBOX live? lol. That's like saying television is dead because you can watch tv on an IPOD. PC's are the bigger, stronger, older brother who was turned into a vampire while drinking a fine wine. Dead in the eyes of the nonbelievers, living forever walking amongst us, getting better with age.

I own a Wii and 360, which is kinda a waste because I'm on my friggin PC all the time. I play them but not at all that often. Great console games out there too, but..."Gotta love the internet! " Wii and 360 is more a friends type of thing. Have some friends over to play madden or some shit.

Xbox's and Playstations are for 10 year olds and for playing Madden Football, keep them out of MMO land.

  • moostownmoostown Member CommonPosts: 377

Yeh and you'll get to play it on your keyboard controller :D lol

  • skitzo626skitzo626 Member Posts: 42

IMO id want WAR or any mmo to only be played with a keyboard/mouse set up for the x-box. the reason is I don't want the game so dumbed down its playable with a controler.

If I had $10 every time I read PC IS DEAD! I would be stinking rich right about now. Every six months there is some analyst that predicts pc is dead because they just bought stake in one or other popular console.

What has happened this E3 that showed lack of PC games was simply Microsoft's fault. DX 10 on Vista only? After they had removed last barrier for DX10 to run on WinXP because nVidia could not produce drivers good enough for vista, they decided to not mention that and leave it Vista only. And not only that, newest DX10.1 spec excludes every GTS 8800 nVidia car out there. Microsoft is further pushing vista into Garbage category.

If they had released DX10 for WinXP with advancement of new hardware there would be slew of games that are just superb, now we just have to wait a bit longer for that to happen.

Any FPS on console is 0 skill. They all have assisted aiming where you can pull off headshot everytime with ease. The first obliteration of console players came at hands of UT tournament. Sega vs PC players. Sega players could not live past 2 seconds after spawning. So then along came Halo with 'aim 6 meters away from anyone's head and still score kill' game mechanic and was a hit.

    Anyway /end of rant.

Why is it everyone thinks that you have to use a gamepad with the console? both the 360 and ps3 supports mouse/keyboard, afaik it's just that the devs doesn't make the games support it.

If a mmo-dev decided to release an MMO for a console, all they'd have to do is to bundle it with mouse/keyboard, or just label it, that the game requires mouse/keyboard to play.

Personally what i love about my console, is that i can buy a game, go home, insert the dvd and play, no installing, no tweaking, no looking for new drivers / updates. I just play the game and have fun.

  • CaldrinCaldrin Member UncommonPosts: 4,505

yup yup no tweaking or anything .. but when you get frame rate drop in games there aint much you can do about it.. plus at the end of the day your all jsut waiting for those 3 nice red lights to pop up..

PCs are capable of so much more than a console its silly really..

now dont get me wrong i have consoles as well.. its good for fun when u have ya mates around and have a few beers or somthing.. but they are nothing compared to PCs now let alone PCs in a few months time..

I really hope not. The crowd that would come in with the xbox360 would be awful for the community.

I'd rather see the time put into new content and patches than designing the same game for another platform.

God I hope not, Xbox is terrible.

  • rockumrockum Member Posts: 54

Well for me... my keyboard is plug in threw the UPS and as well as my Mouse. And the Xbox 360 does have 2 UPS Ports ...i havent try'd it yet but my guess is that if i plugged them in it would work fine? ...Because if you ask me ... insted of going out and buyin all this hardware for my computer and insted just buy the game..no downloading time..just plug and play and be able to set up my keybord and mouse..well i would be just happy with that. Plus for everone who so against Console MMO's....it would be just like facing someone on the computer because they are using a mouse and a keyboard.

  • ImpyrielImpyriel Member UncommonPosts: 711

As long as the 360 version has it's own set of servers independant of all of PCs I wouldn't care.

PC gaming is not dead. For gods sake man Starcraft II

  • Sovren1Sovren1 Member Posts: 312

yeah, I just don't know where that kid got off saying PC is dead when in fact I think more software and options come out every day, every week, every month.

Granted consoles have there place and some really good games. I just think that PC offers so many more options that they are lightyears ahead.

The only plus to playing an MMO on the xbox360 would be avoiding the $15 sub. On PS3 it is another story. But if you need to avoid a sub payment, maybe you have bigger problems. Stop smoking cigarettes. That would allow you to play many p2p mmo's at once.

    LOL.

MY PC died. your PC is still great - ok?

This just shows you can't mention a console without a big us vs them style flame war.

PC gaming is very alive and I am jealous that I cannot afford a rig right now. So please keep the rest of that PC elitist bollocks off my thread its not what its about.

Fabricator! We all know you secretly plotted this.

Like I said there's no big deal with having a version for the console so long as the servers are independant of the PCs.

I highly doubt they will release a 360 version to release alongside the PCs though. I would think they would like to see the products popularity and success before doling out resources and money for support to another platform. I dunno.

Why do you guys think that porting this to the xbox360 would be a bad thing? You would be offering to a large crowd of players.

I personally bought my 360 for single player games, and some FPS games on xbox live. Why? Harder for the little FPS faggots of death to cheat on xbox live then it is for a PC, not impossible, but a heck of a lot harder.

I also love the fact that every time a new game comes out I don't have to upgrade my system like you do a computer.  Like the upcomming Vista. DX10...good luck, most of you will be buying new video cards, and a whole new operating system to play next years games.

FFXI came out for the PC and the PS2 and ran great, you couldn't tell the PC people from the PS2 people, except the people that didn't buy a keyboard for thier PS2 didn't talk much. There was no noticable frame rate drops from a PC person in a group of PS2 player, or a PS2 player in a PC group of player. Me and a few friends tested the crap out of it expecting there to be some problems some where, but found nothing worth challenging. And now it is out on the Xbox 360, and other then be out dated, I am sure it plays just fine there too.

The OP claimed his PC was dead, not "The PC" is dead. As we all know the PC is far from dead, hell they still come out with faster processers every couple of months, and better video cards every few months, and it seems like 50% of the time that I have bought a new game in 2007 I had to either update drivers, buy a new video card, or add ram.

So don't start bad mouthing Xbox 360 players, just because you don't have one. The system is very impressive, comparable to some of  todays  top end off the shelf PC's and fully capable of running most of todays PC games, while my PC only being a couple years old can barley handle todays games, and most likely won't be able to handle tomorrows games.

porting to console = dumbing down. It's happened to every other game that has been ported to console, what would make this any different?

IMO, port = automatically bad because console users require a simpler game. Maybe not all of them need simpler games, but such a large portion do that it isn't worth it to create a complex game.

Why do you think it needs to be dumbed down? Am I MMO illiterate because I own a console? I have played the same amount or more MMO's then anyone, I can say that because I have been playing them since they started.

My xbox 360 is stronger then my current PC and my current PC has been able to run everything that's come out recently......so system requirments don't need "dumbed down"

My xbox 360 has a 120 gig hard drive, my PC has an 80 gig hard drive....so the size of the game doesn't need to be dumbed down.

My xbox 360 is capable of a wireless keyboard and mouse, my PC has them.....so controls don't need to be dumbed down.

My xbox 360 has a 48inch widescreen HD display, my computer has a 17 inch LCD diplay.......so resolution...nope, doesn't need to be dumbed down.

My xbox 360 has a very experienced gamer at the controls, so does my PC....so the game play doesn't need to be dumbed down...

So what needs to be dumbed down? and how dumbed down do you think it would have to be? You can't get much further then drag special move to hotkey 1, special spell to hotkey 2, and special emote to hotkey 3. Now go grind a few levels with your auto attack....

What kind of intelligence do you think you have the an xbox owner doesn't? You think because they run around and frag you in all the FPS's they can't handle you in an RPG?   An RPG is a game with a story, and some meaning, something you can feel like you have become a part of. All you have to have is some time, some imagination, and a sense of adventure, you don't have to have a fricking PC.

And what MMO's were ported to consoles and dumbed down? The only MMO on the pc, and console is FFXI and it looks, runs, and plays the same on either.

There have been a few single player games that were ported from the PC to the console that the console version wasn't as good, but that was because untill recently, consoles did not have harddrives to download patches and new content, but now they do, and utilize the power of PC's in thier hardware, so run the same games as the PC.

There have been very few games made for the PC this last year that were not ported to the console, and they all look and play the same.

What was your last console a PS1? get with it, PC's are still superior to a console, but the consoles are quickly catching up. And I can tell you now, a PC user is in no way superior just because he owns a PC, so to even suggest that a game has to be dumbed down for a console user is an insult, not an insult to the console users, but an insult to your parents for raiseing you to practice segragation, branding people, and claiming to be superior due to your material holdings.

Why would any one want to play a mmo on a console?
